Chilaquiles all day!!! We were brought several plates of food before receiving what we actually ordered… Which seemed like a mistake at first, but facing the disappointment of rejecting delicious looking food, I decided it was actually a genius marketing tactic that should be implemented in restaurants across the country.

This place was decent but for me service is more important than food. I did not like the menu they had limited options which is fine. I wasn’t really sure of this place so I went the safe route and got bacon eggs and pancakes. They’re known for their hash so my boyfriend got the Breakfast Club hash(he loved it). I had baby cakes eggs and bacon everything a la carte. The best thing about this place is the maple butter, that butter makes everything taste amazing however they give you cold syrup which makes your pancakes cold when using it. You order your food and pay first then you get your food that’s something you usually see at a fast food joint not at a sit down restaurant. This space is super small so we had a little wait to be seated. They ask you if you want coffee while your waiting which is cool… But they don’t refill your cup they don’t give you water they have complimentary water in a container for self service and they have plastic cups that are very unappealing. It wasn’t the best or worst I’m not rushing to come back here. I recommend this place for people who likes fast food brunch.

Super cute, but small place for brunch! Ladies working are really sweet and nice. I like how they’ve got a small waiting zone in the back corner of the restaurant. It works out especially well in the wintertime. Now on to the food: Pork Bubble and Squeak: With this kind of name, who could not love it! I surely did. Tender pork awesomely combined with sweet potato chunks and brussel sprouts. Tasted great but way too much oil on the plate! I can’t even imagine what it would look like if I had added the bacon fat hash. Also, wow, what’s up with the mustard cream… it was totally not my thing. The taste of it was so strange! Good thing they put it on the side! Truffle hash: My second favorite. I just love the flavor of truffle and this plate really delivered on that. It also has great vegetable ingredients that keep you healthy(brussel sprouts, carrots, and kale). Interestingly enough, the dish as a whole could use some more salt which is something I rarely say when I eat out. Most places should probably turn down the salt level. Buffalo chicken hash: This is not on their every day menu but I did enjoy it too as a special. This is for those who love buffalo chicken sauce because the whole thing is quite saucy. Loved that they threw in carrots and celery as the perfect buffalo chicken complement. The Humboldt hash: Overall this would not be my first pick just because I don’t love the ingredients. Black beans aren’t my favorite. I liked that a healthy conscious alternative is the soyrizo instead of the chorizo though! Peanut butter and banana pancakes: Also not on their every day menu but if it is, get it! It tastes exactly like how it sounds. The peanut butter whip on top is exquisite and surprisingly not too sweet! Pancakes are pretty fluffy too. Overall, a good place for brunch especially if you like hash! They deliver well with unique combinations of hash ingredients.

What a great little place. I had the Italian eggs benedict, and my friend had waffles with pecan butter(both from the specials board). Both were out of this world delicious, and yet I still had order-envy over every plate I saw. Filling, reasonably priced, efficient and friendly service. I will seek this place out again the next time I am in Chicago for sure.

The food was amazing. Enough said. Self order service, and very possibly a wait depending on when you go. But it hit the spot plain and simple, and I will definitely be back.

The coffee was OK; nothing special. The service was good, especially once you get over the different rules. Hash has some pretty interesting spins on hash and other breakfasts. It’s the kind of place that warrants a few more tries in order to really appreciate the fun and creative things that are happening on their menu. It’s too bad we can’t try it again any time soon unless for some reason we’re on the Northside and are hungry on some random weekend. But there are so many breakfast places left uneaten and unrated. Hash gets a recommended rating of 3 Brent faces

I’ve been here a couple times. Usually I go here during the summer, so that I can enjoy the outdoor seating, but have also eaten inside and ordered to go. The inside is a pretty small space, so it can feel a little crammed. The food is decent. I never really crave it, but it’s a good addition to the mix of places to have brunch. My husband really enjoys it, and he’s really the reason why we usually end up at this spot. Service is very good, and I have always found the staff to be friendly. Overall, it’s a good neighborhood spot to grab a bite to eat on the weekend, or grab take out.

Great place to check out when the weather is nice and there is outdoor seating available; however, it can be a claustrophobics worst nightmare in the winter. Food is pretty good and you order at the counter once you are seated… so, you usually get your food in a timely manner and bad service is pretty much out of the question.

This tiny tucked away establishment is perfect for if you live in town and you meet a group of 2 to 3 people and don’t mind a wait if there is one. IT is a delicious hash. You have to know what you want fairly quickly and get in line to order. It’s whipped up for you in a few minutes and it’s just like that home comfort meal that’s not worth a ton. You can get coffee, and self served water, and just quickly devour and call it your morning. It’s small– so you can’t get very comfortable in your seat. With Chicago being known for it’s food and amazing restaurants– esp. brunch– I wouldn’t jump up to try HASH.

Love that they serve dark matter coffee but I hate that my omelette was okay. I had the bacon, swiss and mushroom omelette and it was just okay. I was expecting more from this place because of the four star rating. If you go, stick to the hash which is the specialty.

The staff was so nice. Recommended some of the best they served there-and it was delish. Small restaurant, but I still liked it. I got the pork bubble and my friend got the Italian beef Benedict… I don’t always like benedicts… Don’t get me wrong I mean mine was still good, but I liked his food more. Definitely a restaurant I’d go back to so I can try something different.

Pros Very friendly atmosphere Decent food for a morning meal Giant portion sizes Great bread Neutral Small & tight space Friendly hipster joint for those curious Cons Brussel sprouts in hash Pork squeal & hash lacked flavor. But, if there was anymore flavor, it could easily be too much. Overall, I’d probably recommend a friend try this once.

Hash was okay. I had higher expectations after reading all the reviews. Would give them 3.5 stars instead of 3 if that was an option. A hash(with potatoes, sausage, kraut, mushrooms) was around $ 9 and a coffee made it $ 12 total. Hash isn’t waiter service and I just kinda felt like for that much money there should have been a little more service. Everyone was nice and the space was great but I just wasn’t über-impressed. The employees all smiled but no one really went out of their way to help us or answer questions about the menu even when it was obvious my friend and I didn’t know what was going on or know what to order. I will go back here for sure due to the large menu and general yummy smell of the place but will probably try other brunch places first.

Hot damn. I am a happy bruncher. Everything about this experience was awesome. the atmosphere s eclectic retro and cute. Outdoor seating. An awesome vegetarian selection of breakfast items. and of course plenty of meat for everyone else. my first bite of chilaquiles sent me over the edge. Taste explosion of textures and flavors. A little heat, mild green chili, perfectly cooked egg and crispy yet wet tortillas. Every bite I delighted in and just started planning when I can come back to do it all again.

Randomly went there for breakfast and it was fantastic. You order up at the counter and grab a seat wherever. They even have a nice sidewalk/outdoor seating patio if you wanna breathe some fresh air.

It’s very rare that I give 5 stars but you make my heart skip a beat! It’s seriously good if I’ve come here two days in a row and am sitting here trying to stop myself from heading there again for breakfast. I ordered the Italian beef sandwich with a side of hash. Finger licking good!!!

We came here for brunch after visiting my friend who lives next door. It was close to 2pm but they were still very busy! They have both outdoors and indoors seating but yet we had to wait about 15 minutes before we got seated. You order up in the front then they give you a number so then they’ll bring the food to you. Food took 30 minutes to cook, so we pretty much finish close to the time the café close(3pm). I had the elotes hash — it was very corny. I like the potatoes and the egg on top, but felt the corn and mayo were a bit too much. I felt bloated throughout the rest of the afternoon. My other friend had the same thing and she seem to enjoy it. My husband had their mushroom, bacon, and spinach omelet. He thought it was just okay too, nothing special about it. I also had one of their fresh squeeze OJ. the funny thing is. it’s not really fresh squeezed because near the end of our brunch we saw the waitress pour the OJ from a store bought container into the cups. Oops. Service was good. the hostess was friendly. Food is okay, too. I hear it’s best to come very early like 8−9am to avoid the wait.

This place has breakfast and serving down! Not only does the ambience and classy style give you a welcoming feel but the staff are fabulous and always smiling. I loved the food, their omelettes were fabulous and coffee delightful! I really love that they squeeze their own fresh fruit juice such as orange juice! Everything is fresh and cleanly and you leave with a smile on your face and a full belly! Also the prices are incredibly affordable! Love this place! Definitely coming back for more!

Came here when birchwood didn’t have the shrimp and grits brunch I wanted. Quaint little spot– order Up front and sit. Be prepared for a wait, but because it’s cooked so fresh. Ordered the truffle hash and add corned beef– delicious! Really balanced flavors. Also the fried French toast is good to share– like Indian frybread. Decadent and satisfying your sweet tooth. Also– the best iced latte I have had in awhile!

CRAPPY service. It’s sort of this weird«get it yourself» set-up that they expect you to understand right from the get-go, which is fine by me, just wish they weren’t RUDE about it. it’s a sit-down place, but you have to stand in line to order, choose your table, get your coffee, get your own freshly squeezed orange juice from the fridge at the corner of the room. The menu board is also pretty CONFUSING to decipher, especially for a first time patron. Side note: The a/c unit leaks water, from the ceiling. It’s been doing that for months. It startles me sometimes when a random drip falls against my cheek. They really need to get that fixed. DO get the HUMBOLDTHASH. The rest of the menu is nothing special.

Came here for lunch w/some friends on a weekday. This place definitely screams hip right when you walk in — and I love that. We came in and were greeted w/a smile by the cashier, who explained the menu to us 1st time noobs. I asked her what their most popular dish was and she said«all the hashes are good — you can’t go wrong w/any of em.» I definitely liked that swag. I ended up ordering the Pork Bubble and Squeak Hash(and of course I added bacon fat hash). This was a great, satiating dish that left me w/a happy belly and happy palette. The pork shoulder was tender and juicy, the sweet potato and brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked, and the mustard cream sauce had just the right amount of kick to it without being overpowering. Plus, an egg on anything is just the perfect topping. Also, they had large amounts of pork(the fat kid in me loved that) and equal amounts of sweet potato and brussels sprouts, so each bite you took had a perfectly even amount of each(the OCD side of me loved that). Hash is a great food spot!

This is a cute place in a growing neighborhood. We came during off peak hours so there was virtually no wait. The menu is large for the size of the place which is nice. I had a special — Chocolate Chip Puddin Pancakes. They were great and didn’t even need syrup. The boyfriend had the Humboldt Omelet — in his words«they were nothing special that I hadn’t had before, but they were done very well». The place is small, I can imagine on a busy day the wait would be long and the inside crowded. We were place at a table that was pretty much on top of the line for ordering. Not a huge problem but not the most comfortable dining experience for me at least. The staff seemed a little standoffish. Nothing outwardly rude but not really any greetings or pleasantries. And I understand this may sound like nitpicking but even the smiles seemed insincere. This may have been amplified by the fact that they have a $ 10 minimum on credit cards(which is not in compliance with their merchant agreements with Visa/Mastercard by the way). This isn’t as big of a deal on its own, I understand that for small business merchant fees can be hard. But either accept credit cards, or don’t so I can bring cash. When I tried to pay for my 13 dollar meal I was asked if I could pay with cash«if possible», because the credit card machine is broken. I’m usually a pretty trusting person but even I didn’t believe for a second that the machine was actually broken. Overall the food was decent, the atmosphere was nice(save for a couple bad tables), and the service was ok. I’d give this place another chance, and maybe even more if its never anything super awful, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way for it. Its convenient if you’re in the neighborhood.

Amazing little brunch spot! Unique menu, friendly staff, great ambiance and delicious food. + BYOB I ordered an item off of the specials menu, a culinary dream come true for me. ITALIANBEEF Benedict. English muffin, tender and flavorful Italian beef, giardiniera cream cheese!!! Topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Served with potatoes and a side salad with house vinaigrette. Everything was perfect. We also brought a bottle of champagne which went perfectly with the fresh squeezed orange juice! I would recommend Hash to anyone. In response to some others reviews; Brunch and breakfast anywhere you go on the weekend will have a wait and be a little bit of a hassle(if they are any good) why not go somewhere where you know the food is worth it?

Very good breakfast! The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the place is very small and can feel crowed/cramped. We did not have to wait too long for our food. Would go back again!
