I first saw Ivy on youtube. Today is my 2nd time going to her. I made my appointment online. Her communication with me was good. She was very sweet and answered all the questions I had. I liked my experience and will be going back. Oh, and my hair looks amazing!

Chicago stylists are notorious for inflated egos. They all think they’re the only stylists in the world and tend to act as if they’re doing you favor. Ivy Powells ghetto ass is no different. I watched this girls videos for months lusting after that flip over method. When I realized she was in the Chi I booked an appointment immediately only to have it cancelled 2 hours before the scheduled appointment. Tried to reschedule, was unable to. Called left voicemails, sent texts, no reply. Signal Boost! avoid this thing until she’s ready to run a real business.

Where do I start? So, I found Ivy thru a friend who actually advised me not to go to her because she cancels at the last minute but I thought ‘maybe Ivy had some type of emergency, everyone has unforeseen things occur in life.’ My friend actually flew into Chicago from Arizona for one day just to get her hair done by Ivy Powell. However, Ivy text my friend the night before and said she had an «emergency» and needed to cancel. Since my friend had already paid for the flight she just made a wasted trip to Chicago. This brings me to my experience with Ivy. When you schedule with Ivy you have to schedule online which was not a problem for me. The first time I made an appointment for 5pm which I was sent a confirmation email for. The night before my appointment I receive a re-confirmation email, only to find that the time was moved from 5pm to 3pm. I thought this was weird but I thought maybe I just wasn’t paying attention to what I was doing when I booked the appointment. The second time I made an appointment the exact same thing happened, somehow my appointment was moved from 5pm to 1pm. When I asked Ivy about this she claimed to be totally unaware of the situation and blamed it on a computer glitch that the company was having only to later find out she was changing the appointments at the last minute on her own accord. Now, I have no problem with people needing to reschedule, however Ivy would make these changes the night before my appointments and I would have no idea until I checked my email because she would do it online instead of call me. The next time I decided to see her again despite the hassle. This time she really out did herself! I text her the day before my appointment at 1:30pm to confirm because I know she had a history of flakiness. She did not respond. I checked my email at midnight before I went to bed to make sure she didn’t make any last minute changes again. I woke up at 6:00am the following morning to see a text from Ivy at 2:00am saying she wants to confirm my appointment for 9:30am even though my appointment was set for 9am and I had the confirmation email to prove it. This girl text me at 2am!!! So, when I woke up at 6am I responded immediately and said I would be there at 9:30am no problem. I get up wash my hair and head out the door only to receive a text from Ivy at 8:50am(ten minutes before my original appointment) saying«I text you and you didn’t respond so I put someone else in your space, sorry.» Then she has the audacity to tell me «I posted on social network that I lost my phone so that my clients would know.» Why in the world would I randomly be lurking her instagram page? By this time I was livid! This girl is a child(24 years old) who has not learned about professionalism and respecting other peoples time. For $ 225 you can go to someone else you values your time and business. This is Chicago and there are many other stylist as good as her. If you don’t mind scheduling and re-scheduling and re-re-scheduling then it may work but if you are like me and you get your hair done because you are leaving town the next day, or you have a wedding to attend or a special event you are better off taking your money somewhere else.
