I had a turkey burger, garden stlye. It was a good size for the price and fresh. The garden style came with provolone, mushrooms, and other veggies, which was a plus. The girl at the counter was nice and the lemon sorbet ice cream was tasty. The atmospher was comfortable enough, so i didn’t mind the wait too much. Although, I wasn’t in a rush either. I do plan on returning to try some of their other items.

This review is only for their chicago style hot dog. I am an avid fan of the chicago style and theirs is okay but has a lot of potential. The major problem I have with it is the bun, everyone knows the classic chicago style bun is a poppy seen bun, generally from the company S. Rosen’s. Theirs is a plain bun that is very airy and doesn’t hold up well to the large amounts of ingredients or the liquids from those(pickle, relish, and tomato mainly). They did a great job cooking the dog itself and it had a little char to it which was tasty and the other ingredients were all tasty but I thought the relish was just okay and I didn’t get any celery salt to my knowledge. The fries that come with it were also a little undercooked in my opinion(I like them darkened a bit and with some crunch/not soggy). The place itself was nice and clean and the service was pretty fast and very friendly.

Again, called in 15 minutes ahead of time and still have to wait another 20 minutes when I arrive. If you order ahead and there is a single order in front of you you’re guaranteed to wait an additional 20 minutes when you arrive no matter how far ahead you call in. Again FAR below expectations.

Love this restaurant! I love that everything is fixed fresh. I love that it is in Bronzeville. I love that it is black owned. And it’s reasonably priced.

It was just ok. Not spectacular. The wait was unbelievable long too for a hotdog… I got the big easy(andouille topped with jambalaya) the andouille was good with a nice snap, but the jambalaya was watery and lacking flavor.

EVERYTIME I go I have a different experience. The food is always good. But they could be a lot less selfish with the fries. They messed up my order a couple times and let me forget my drinks the only reason i frequent is because I work near it and it’s tasty. But over all they have room for improvement.

After reading a few Unilocal reviews on this place, I was excited to try it. After ordering my food, I was a bit confused on how I would receive it. I told the cashiers than I wanted to dine in so I wasn’t sure if they would bring the meal to me or if I would have to pick my meal up at the window. I sat at the window and listened to them scream out receipt numbers and orders. It was pretty chaotic. after waiting for 20 minutes, I walked up the the counter and stood waiting to ask someone why my order was taking so long. When someone finally approached me, they already had my order waiting there bagged up. Apparently I had missed my order being yelled out, although it was really hard to hear anything among the chaos. «The Bird» was supposed to be a Moroccan spiced chicken breast with middle eastern styled toppings. I received 2 dry breast filets that were thin and burnt. The long wait coupled with the mediocre food? Don’t think I’ll be returning.

Wow. I just stopped in while waiting fory taxi. Great food. Its quick, fresh and cheap. Its always cool when you see pictures of the owner on the wall with celebs and turn around to see him working as well. I have a lot of respect for that. Keep up the great work. I’ll be back!

Awful service and mediocre food. There were only three others in the place and we waited over 25 mins to get our food because the woman worker was talking to her friend at the side. Here is a picture I took of the empty restaurant 22 mins in. Also, she forgot our order because she didn’t write it down and then forgot to include our side of fries.

Everything looks SOOO good. Pros: everything you’re supposed to put in your mouth freshly prepared everything vegetarian options Cons: no baby changing station H-Dogs is a large space on the northeast corner of 47th& Martin Luther King Drive with what seems to be free street parking on the service road in front. Yay! Menu items are atypical of a hot dog stand: truffle fries, lamb sausage, salmon burgers, sorbet. H-Dogs is definitely here to raise the bar. What was so impressive is that none of the food has that heavy, greasy, feel. You can eat to your heart’s content with no regrets. Bring your wallet and prepare for happiness. Healthy Hound: A veggie dog that comes awfully close to regular hot dog, meaning you can fool some people. Otherwise, great taste. Greektown Dog: Fantastic! So incredibly good, would order again. Turducken Cobb: Amazing. Everything you want in an indulgent dog. Fried okra: So light. Breading is a complement to the okra, not a distraction. I would get more. Sweet potato fries: Crispy, to the point of being dry. But it’s intentional. So fries are not burnt or lacking flavor, they are non-greasy, easy on the appetite. You don’t leave feeling like you’re going to waddle. Did they offer you cinnamon and almond toppings? You say«Yes please!» or you can go jump in the lake. Regular fries: Non-fatty, coarse salt, freshly fried. Mmmm. Watermelon sorbet: smells like real watermelon, very light. Lemon sorbet: Very tart, reminds you of summer.

Such great service. Food is excellent. The hot dogs I had today didn’t feel heavy and were very tasty. I didn’t feel guilty about eating the 3 different hot dogs today plus sweet potato fries with toasted almonds and cinnamon. I will definitely try to make my way out there as often as possible.

Chicago is looking for the successor to Hot Dougs, and not only is H-Dogs a candidate, I think it’s even better, because they make the single best salmon sandwich I have had anywhere! In fact, when I go back, I’ll just skip right past their excellent dogs, and get me another one. It was a perfectly grilled salmon filet with crisp greens, red onions, and a zesty horseradish infused dressing, all on a wheat bun. I also sampled the Greek, vegetarian and French dogs. The Greek was essentially a gyro, with lamb, tomatoes, onions and a their version of «tzatzki» sauce. The Healthy Hound is a vegetarian dog that’s a bit more in the style of a Chicago dog, but without the pickle, and with roasted peppers. The French was the richest dog I tried, duck sausage smothered in caramelized onions. All the dogs were good, but I kept going back to that salmon burger! Everything comes with excellent French fries, served crisp and piping hot. The inclusion of fries makes the pricing of the dogs and burgers much more attractive. There’s also a rich chili, available in both vegetarian and turkey versions. I got this to go, and it was great reheated later. H-Dogs is definitely worth the trip south, and it’s pretty convenient to get there on Lake Shore, so I’ll certainly be back… for more salmon burgers!

Awesome chargrilled polish sausage. I got it with grilled onions, sauerkraut, mustard, and peppers – amazing. Better than Portillos where I normally get it. I am also from California, so high probability I don’t know what I’m talking about. Whoopsy? Minus one star for lackluster service. Girl at the front didn’t want to be bothered with. I feel bad for her because working at fast food joints suck, but…

H-Dogs gets an automatic one point deduction for the wait time. I get that everything is freshly prepared but 15 minutes is ridiculous. The time stamped on my receipt was 12:47. I didn’t receive my food until 1:13. As I said, utterly ridiculous. One of the employees did apologize for the delay but still… #wow I visited H-Dogs one time years ago when they first opened. I ordered a hot dog and remember being underwhelmed. The bun was hard and the dog just wasn’t good. Thus the reason I hadn’t returned until now, some 2 – 3 years later. Well, after all of that I must say that H-Dogs was worth the wait. It definitely wasn’t the mediocre food that I recall having back in the day. I got a Nick & Nate burger(regular burger w/tomato, lettuce, mustard, ketchup, onion, and pickles) The burger was delicious! It was a generous size and very tasty. It came with a small amount of fries that were hot, fresh and yummy. At first I thought the portion size could have been larger but halfway during the meal I was full. Turns out the amount of fries was perfect. I’m sorry that I didn’t give H-Dogs a another try long before now. I can’t wait to go back and try something else on the menu. Five dollars for a burger and fries(no drink) isn’t bad. You’d pay the same at McD’s or White Castle for food much less filling.

Was so happy and relieved to see a hot dog stand down the street from the crib. Don’t really like to venture into Bridgeport accept for extreme hot dog cravings. You def filled a void in Bronzeville. I’ll admit, it took me a minute to try yall. I noticed there was never a crowd in here. Now I see why… Chicago Dog– Unlike any Chicago dog that I’ve ever tasted in that– its nasty! The hot dog itself seems to be low sodium? Its been char grilled and then placed in a paper bag to sweat the char off before serving? Notice the question marks because I’m that puzzled. I just don’t understand the wrinkled appearance and soggy texture, so pardon me, I’m trying to make sense of it all… H Dog– Totally my fault. I missed the part in the description where it explains that its made with *turkey chilli. I hate turkey products when cooked a certain way. The turkey in this chilli happened to be cooked the way that I hate. The chilli itself also lacks flavor and is too watery to be placed atop of a hot dog, so the bun disintegrates into a gloppy mess. Bronzeville Belly Buster– The burger seems frozen. It seemed like a patty you could get at any Jewel or Save A Lot, which would have been fine if it had any flavor. Just an over sized unappetizing burger. Truffle fries– Despite our 30 minute wait in a completely empty restaurant on a Friday night– for hotdogs and a burger, we still managed to get cold, stale, bitter tasting fries. I live literally 1 minute away. There is no way my fries should have been ice cold. The fries tasted like they had been cooked hours before. They were so hard. The truffle oil used does not seem to be of quality. The Customer Service was exceptional, had to add a star for that. The people working here actually want to work and are so patient and accommodating. If only the food was on par with the service. Will never go back again.

This place has the BEST Turducken hot dogg I have eaten. Yes it was the only turducken dog I’ve ever eaten, but it’s so yummy. The Turducken Cobb Dog is grilled turducken sausage with lettuce, tomato, chopped turkey bacon & bleu cheese dressing— and in three, 3 syllable words it is — Wonderful, Heavenly, Happiness!

I love love this place. This is the first time I have given a business five stars. It is a fast food restaurant and if you really just want something lite and different than McDonalds this is the place to go. It’s definitely vegetarian friendly and comes with enough food in one meal to satisfy your taste buds. My fav choice is the veggie chili. For $ 12 including gelato I was a happy eater.
