I usually like the Golden Nugget restaurant’s but this one is not the best. The waitress that we had was horrid. She didn’t take our orders properly, she didn’t explain specials, introduce herself. Nothing. As we were eating we had to wave her down several times for refills on our drinks. The whole time she should’ve been waiting on tables she was chatting/flirting with a gentleman at the register and playing on her phone. The bust boys were doing just that, busting their asses working while the waitresses did nothing. No one smiled, had a kind word to say or thanked us as we left. Horrible customer service.

I am appalled and shocked and appalled at the way this place rips you off. One adult, two toddlers, an 8yro and a 13yo… Eggs, pancakes and ham is all they had and they were charged $ 68! Beware they are charging the service charge of five people or more and as that has been illegal in the state of Illinois since 1÷1÷14! $ 6.00 too! And it was two babies at the table. Not to mention that they taxed the service charge. Will not go back and will let others know!

Went there since my usual Golden Nugget was too crowded. I was pleased to find this other location not too far from me where the service was also great and the food was good as usual. Our waitress was super fun and was very attentive the entire time we were there. She kept the coffee coming while we were there and I didn’t feel like she was rushing us to leave the establishment once we were done with our food like some other places do. As far as the food, I always get the meat lovers skillet with scrambled eggs and I am never disappointed! I will come back to this location whenever my usual location is too crowded or whenever I want a change of scenery: D

Coming here since I was in college. The staff has always been nice, no matter what time or how busy. The pancakes are made off happiness, unicorn milk and Crack because that’s how good it is. Don’t waste your money going to IHOP or anywhere else.

Well, this one won’t be a positive one. Not because we were treated poorly but rather because the food is just plain not what you would expect from any Chicago breakfast spot. I have to say it was quite forgettable. So many other places in this great city to go.

First by let me say I’ve been going to this place for over 5 yrs and I have never been treated so disrespectful in my entire. I recently had dinner here this past Sunday 4÷27÷15 with my family. Now my party consisted of my husband, my mother, myself, my 5yr old and my 13 month baby. Everything was fine until I found plastic in my food. Even though I was hungry and upset, I alerted the waitress nicely and just asked for pancakes. I received the bill and my bill for $ 75.00 that’s without my food included. I couldn’t believe it, I mean I expected to pay 40 – 50 bucks but 75? So when I look and see what was charged I notice the waitress tried adding almost $ 20 to my bill for her tip. When I asked about she stated because there is 5 ppl at the table. I asked for who is the 5 th person because I have my toddler who I didn’t order anything for because I had my own baby food for her. I couldn’t believe they tried counting my 13 month as the 5th person. I asked to speak with management who was even worse. Professionalism was out the door the manager handled the situation very poorly and was agreeing with the waitress that she has every right to hold my 13 month as a 5th person. Then by being a half black African American woman he shouted to my face«YOUPEOPLEDONTHAVETOCOMEHERE». I was so disgusted that he would say those words to me, mind you I have my daughter with me who is half Haitain and African American, also my husband who is Haitain. I was so offended and to be treated that way in front of my kids that it was unacceptable. As a woman who have managerial experience never seen a manager treat a customer as bad as I was treated. Very disgusting and distasteful I advise you to not go here. The manager is very disrespectful. Do not bring your family here if your a woman or man of color you will be treated differently. Do not go to this location I can’t speak for the others but if you can avoid this location then do so.

Zero stars!!! My family and I walked in to this golden nugget for the first time hoping I’d be a good place to get a bite, as soon as you walk in the place looks totally out dated, you have to find your own table because they won’t give you one, so you and your family have to walk around the restaurant looking for a place to sit! The waitresses have a not so inviting attitude, we sat there for 25 minutes and no one would take our order. So we walked out. THISWILLBEMYFIRSTANDLASTTIME I WILLEVERSETFOOTATTHISGOLDENNUGGET. I’ll just go to the cozy corner down the street.

This place gets 4 stars due to the service that we received. Food is honestly mediocre at best. My friend and I came here on the night of my birthday. It was literally my second day in Chicago and I was feeling a little down not having many people to celebrate with. I ordered some biscuit with hamburger patties, and potato pancakes all smothered in sausage gravy… I have honestly never seen that much food. The food wasn’t too bad. I wouldn’t have really called it a biscuit. It looked like a biscuit injected with GMO. They were huge, doughy, and dense. Lacked any sort of flakiness or biscuit like consistency. I can see this place being one of those spots that you hit up after a hard night out and seriously have those drunchies. I guess my friend had told them it was my birthday, so they brought out a HUGE slice of caked and gave me a Sunday. Of course they sang for me as well. I basically rolled myself out the door and nearly passed out from food coma on my walk back home.

This place is the worst! Granted, my friends and I came here at 3am, but my god. Let’s recount this tragedy together. First of all, we were virtually the only customers in the diner, and our waitress was MIA most of the meal. It was late, she was probably exhausted, I won’t hold it against her. But the food, I have no words. From Kat’s side order of macaroni and cheese, which consisted of ice cold kraft easy mac to Abby’s side of biscuits and gravy, which were straight up HAMBURGERBUNS slathered in indistinguishable white slop. It was truly on another level of awful. On the upside, everything was so bad, we actually ended up having a pretty good time, spending most of the meal laughing and cracking jokes about the food as it came out. As for my meal, a chili cheeseburger, it wasn’t the worst. Granted, I should have just stuck with a good old fashioned cheeseburger but compared to the others I got off light. But yes, the chili that accompanied my burger was absolutely and without a doubt from a can with the words HORMEL written on it: a taste I’ve managed to avoid since my mother’s single working mom years, when chef boyardee dominated our household. All in all, this place is so bad, it’s kind of fun. The restaurant equivalent of Showgirls, Sharknado, or even Troll 2. It’s true camp.

Let me preface this by saying I have only eaten at this establishment when drunk. I don’t even mean hungover… I mean, actively drunk. It’s your basic diner food… greasy, cheap, and delicious. There are many people on Unilocal complaining about service but I’m not going to, first because I haven’t noticed bad service, and second because I’m certain the wait staff aren’t making enough money to have to put up with my drunk ass(and I’m sure I’m not the only one…)

Giving a low rating only for the staff. The foods is just as good as a 1950s diner. I sat at the counter at 11:00 am on a weekday and watched plates stacked on top of plates. Food dying(getting cold) the window, the manager trying to sort out the food while the wait staff were fighting with the cooks over plate that they couldn’t find but I saw clearly. One waitress calling a cook a piece of $#it! Then turn to me and try to justify it as if I would take her side. Then 10 min later refer to a customer as a «trick» Really!!! Foods good but not good enough to sit here with this staff.

Ate here various times over the years. My grandpa always talks about how the coffee from here is as good as no other. The aroma of this place always, and I mean ALWAYS hits you, and gives a good definition of how a breakfast diner should smell like. Hashbrowns are wonderful.

Good eggs Benedict Florentine. Hash brown were good. Overall, traditional American breakfast and pretty good. Service not so good. The waitresses were too busy talking to each other.

Golden Nugget will always be my favorite breakfast place to go to. They have the best pancakes in the world!!! They give you huge portions! They’re coffee is perfect in the morning. The omelettes are huge and delicious! Their burgers are huge and juicy. This place is great! Awesome staff and parking is always available, not to mention, its open 24 hours!

You can’t beat it for the price! Could use updating unless that’s the look they are still trying to go for. Waitresses are nice I’d say very experienced who don’t seem to take any crap ;-) good breakfast new spot for us!

Its good food for the price, but the service was meh. It took over 15 minutes to get anyone to check in on us, and slow after that. I mean, it was late so we didn’t mind too terribly much, but that kind of service can happen after we have our food. Great food selection, wonderful choices, but poor service depending on the time of day.

Been going here for years and its always like a time warp. The food and service never change either. Relatively cheap comfort food that’s not amazing nor horrible. The service is usually decent. Usually a more diverse crowd over the hipster brunch boutiques. This applies to all of the Golden Nugget locations.

Golden Nugget… How ’bout Bronze Nugget!((I gave myself a high five on that one!)) After eating at their rivals across the street, Cornerstone Café, I can’t help but compare and ultimately recommend their competition. Simply based on the quality of food, quantity, and price, this pancake house doesn’t cut it. Unless you’re looking for a cliché 1970’s diner and mediocre at best food, this is your place. Oh, my fiancé commented and I agree, the restaurant is the kind of place where they’d film a movie. It does indeed have a very movie-esque feel to it, which I suppose is kind of appealing, BUT that doesn’t make up for the food. I love me some breakfast but sorry GN, I’ll have to pass. Maybe you’ll just be my late night, craving some greasy food, nugget! :)
