I just want to take a moment to talk about how nice the guys are who work here. They aren’t much for small talk, but always friendly and willing to help you find whatever it is you’re looking for. If they don’t have it in stock, I don’t think it really matters to them. This makes me smile but it’s totally fine. Be passionate about the product you sell, right? I feel like I only have 2 choices when it comes to finding a good liquor store in my neighborhood. The other is Mariano’s. Together, these businesses would complete an impressive liquor store. There are others in the area, I’m sure, but I feel like they are too far away for driving. Especially during rush hour.

This is an average liquor store. The selection and variety is about par with an Osco. The interior reeks of incense. I thought I was used to it from my years as an altar server at funerals, but it’s enough to make you want to run out the door. They had some individual bottles and cans from Revolution Brewing Co. with prices on each item. Nifty, right? Nope; you had to buy 6 of them; couldn’t buy them individually. At close to $ 1.75 each, that is ridiculous.

As other reviewers note, this is just a corner liquor store: No bells or whistles. It is, however, a very good example of its type. They have a wonderful selection of microbrews and a very decent, and affordable, wine selection. They also keep several white and pink wines in their refrigerated cases for the impatient. It isn’t Binny’s or my beloved 694 Wine & Spirits, but the prices are good, the service is friendly, and they have good stuff that I like to drink. Magazines, smokes and incense are also available.

OK, its been a long time since I last rapped with you, but here goes it. I moved to another side of the city. Some would call it the dark side, but I just call it the North side. This liquor store is on one of the corners near Irving Park, Elston and Monticello, so its a pain in the ass to stop at, but they have a large selection of microbrews and craft beers so you don’t have to drive up to Whole Foods or to the Lakevbiew Binny’s when you feel for a beer that Jewel doesn’t carry. The prices are average and they also sell incense. A lot of it, maybe to cover up the chicken smell from the place next door. I will shop here for as long as I am in the area.

above average beer selection for a corner liquor store. Prices are the same as most places. Decent wine selection when you need an OK bottle quick.
