Gino DiFranco Salon

I had been to Gino DiFranco a few times and was happy with my cuts but the last time I was there I decided to try coloring my hair with them for the first time. I was really unhappy with the way the color turned out — lots of streaks instead of subtle highlights (as requested), one side of my head had a LOT more blond than the other, the highlights all started at the same point on my head so it was like a big chunk of blond — it was just really bad. I called Gino, the owner, and had a calm discussion with him about the issue and asked to be refunded for the color only (I was happy to pay for the cut). He became irate and demanded I call my stylist directly on her personal cell phone. I told him I was uncomfortable doing that but he insisted, shouted into the phone, and hung up on me. I called the stylist’s cell phone and asked for a refund and she said she had to refuse due to the salon’s policy.
I’m just really disappointed by the customer service I received. It wasn’t unreasonable at all for me to ask for a refund. I had to go to another salon and have the color job fixed for $ 200. The stylist at the second salon couldn’t believe how bad the color job was and kept saying her salon would never had refused a refund under such a circumstance.
If you want a salon that will GUARANTEE your satisfaction, do not go to Gino DiFranco salon.

I have been their customer for a long time. Gino is always friendly and he knows how to cut hair well. I never got a bad haircut. I highly recommend.

After reading reviews, I decided to stop in for a trim. First off, I knew immediately I picked a great salon after I walked in. It was warm and welcoming — a definite breath of fresh air compared to how stuffy and snotty salons on the North side can be. My appointment with Jo was fantastic! She listened to exactly what I wanted and thoroughly explained the amount she was cutting off since I’m growing my hair out. I was really happy with my style and her great tips for home care. And she was an absolute sweetheart!

I only cut my hair once a year-​And that is only if my god-​father is visiting from California because I don’t trust ANYONE with my luscious locks…
I discovered Gino DiFranco Salon through a friend at work so I called to find out when they were available, pricing, etc.
I was immediately greeted by Gino himself who asked me where I had heard about the salon, what my hair was like, and was trying to get me an appointment in as soon as possible.
He was so sweet on the phone I couldn’t wait to get there and meet him! It felt like we had known each other for years!
Josie cut my hair and I could not be more pleased with it. I asked for layers which could get scary because some people go to town and make them choppy. I don’t know how she did it, but the layers lay ever so beautifully and I feel like I have more volume in my hair.
The atmosphere is great and I can’t wait to go back in a few months for another haircut! I highly recommend getting your hair done here — –They’re Italian! They know what they’re doing!

I love Gino! He gives the best cuts in all of Chicago! They also just started carrying GO247 men’s hair care products! You guys have to try it!

A good friend referred me to this salon after I fell victim to the overpriced, under quality world of Chicago hair salons. Not only is the staff amazingly friendly, the prices are ridiculously reasonable and the quality of the cuts/​colors/​styles are top-​notch. Ladies, if you have longer/​curly hair, Jo is your girl! She gets it when we want to keep out hair long and knows how to work with curly hair — rare!

These are great people who have made me feel at home for 12 years. I would imagine there are places with fancier this and that. This is where I go b/​c it is warm, relaxing and inviting.

This is a pretty good salon… its on the outskirts of river north so it frequently has openings. The staff is pretty friendly too and the prices are ok
