if you can’t stand the heat– get out of the kitchen. cops are supposed to be professionals and held to professional standards — with base pay+ benefits for the avg. patrolman near $ 90,000 annual… we are sick and tired of misinformation, cover ups and lies by chicago cops — some of whom are ruining their reputation for the majority who are doing a good, honest job. angelo backs anyone who simply pays union dues and thus, his salary… regardless of whether their behaviour will taint or ruin things for the majority who are honest. that’s not leadership — it’s an ostrich with head in sand. his comments re the«16 shots video», the cop who beat the female bartender and others are ridiculous.

Police officers work hard and constantly are put in harms way. There never is a video of an officer helping an elderly person across the street or politely giving directions to a lost citizen. That doesnt sell. Instead, there is only the media’s narrow subjective portrayal of what a Chicago Police Officer does. I hope that FOP gathers enough support to protect the deserved pensions for its active members, retirees, and future officers. This year was a record year for policemen being killed in Chicago and with the shortage of police it will not get any better. If there is enough money in the budget for public aid, food stamps, social services for illegal aliens, a city sponsored«jumping jack», and multiple pensions for do nothing politicians, then surely there should be adequate funds to compensate those who protect our homes, children, schools and families. God bless the Chicago Police Department!
