Not a fan of this place, especially the rude guy that works there and high ass prices. Im not into fake smiles and having me ass kissed at all but damn talk about mean and condesending. 2 stars just for its looks, 0 for service and prices.

I think this place has potential, but it doesn’t quite beat the selection of Bottles and Cans, or even West Lakeview Liquors for beer. Still, I like how the selection of items was well curated, if unfortunately for some things I thought for beer prices was sometimes a wee bit more expensive occasionally(by say like $ 1 – 3, though there are much worser liquor stores in Chicagoland for beer prices) than I thought they should’ve been priced. Also have other things covered too, like they do sell some chocolate bars, non-alcoholic drinks, wine, and whiskey. It’s unfortunately one of those cases where sometimes you wish they had a little more of something, that another store stocks better(i.e. Gene’s Sausage Shop for chocolate bars, Independent Spirits for wine, etc). Can see some room for improvement for a store, such as maybe having somewhat of a stock for craft sodas? I still miss the selection Joey’s Soda and Snacks had, till it closed(RIP). And in the end, I suspect that’s not quite what they’re trying to be(most of everything), and just to have a well curated selection of things in various categories. I see they do sell grab and go food items too, such as sandwiches(though I thought $ 9 for what I saw in the case was a tad overpriced for the size I saw), and also french bread rolls to go for $ 3. I’ve only eaten at Fountainhead once(usually I get only beers if I’m there and not food, but I should change that), so not sure if a lot of the grab and go items are menu items also served at Fountainhead, or just designed for Fountainhead Market. I’m tempted to try a french bread roll on a future visit. They do advertise beer and wine tastings too at times within this store, which is nice. The employee I talked to was knowledgeable about microbrewed and foreign beer, which was a plus. And of course didn’t mind that I was looking up beers to bookmark in the Untappd app, for the future!(unlike a certain store I won’t name, where I bizarrely got yelled at and got dirty looks for using that app) Good addition to this part of Montrose Ave, and I know I’ll keep my eyes peeled for store events here like tastings, or say if I struggle to find a beer at other stores that may only be here.
