I don’t know what David R. is talking about. There are two benches and two covered picnic tables. Plus a little kiddie bench in one of the play houses. Yes, there is no grass, but it does have a lovely garden. And it’s easy to get to. You can walk under the El tracks from the station. My kids had a conversation with a kid waiting for the train, so that is a fun thing to occupy little ones, especially if they like trains. Note that Google Maps shows the park a little west of the true location. The park is right next to the Brown Line. Access by car also easy. From IP turn south on Wolcott. From Lincoln, turn east on Larchmont. Don’t involve yourself with the Metra tracks. One thing i liked about this park, above and beyond the decent facilities for toddlers and big kids, is that there were a few toys. I think the neighbors drop off old trikes and hula hoops and the like instead of going through the bother of selling them. Definitely a hit with my kids. Also a plus is the shade from a big tree on the neighbor’s yard. Kept the heat away a bit. So worth a stop if you’re in the area and need to romp around.

Fact #1: This is not really a park, but a playground. That may seem obvious from the title, but on Google Maps this is merely«Filbert Park.» So if, perhaps, you have just purchased some tasty doughnuts on a beautiful Saturday morning and are looking for a nice outdoor setting in which to enjoy them with a good book, be forewarned that you will find no grass, trees, or benches in Filbert Park. However, it is full of brand-new playground equipment and landscaping, so I am sure that this place is a boon to local parents of small children. Fact #2: Filbert Park is practically impossible to reach on purpose. A combination of Metra tracks, small one-way residential streets, and nearby construction(right now anyway) make this one of the most tucked-away and unexpected(unless you seek it on a map) tiny enclaves of the Chicago Park District. Which I’m sure is also a boon to local parents of small children. Fact #3: Um… that’s really all there is to say. Summary: Not so great for spontaneous doughnut-eaters, but plenty great for planned or spontaneous playground-goers.
