Today, at this location I saw a big cockroach. As if they don’t believe exterminators. I am not purchasing any more chocolates at this location! I am sorry but I am pretty sure this is not the first time they saw that because it’s way to big like it has plenty of family roaches there as well. They should really invest in getting a cleaning service and someone to exterminate at all there locations cause I really love this location and I want to continue to indulge in their wonderful chocolate! Very sad.

If you’re in Chicago you need to pic up some fanny may. This is a perfect small shop with all their selection. And, if you happen to have Patrick helping you out he can make some great selections for you!

anyone from Chicago would know that our dear Fannie May chocolates is as synonymous to the city as Marshall Field’s. Each holiday, a new fresh assortment of goodies come onto the market and while many of the stuff in the grocery stores are loaded with obnoxiously colorful, eye-catching packaging, Fannie May sticks to classic yummy goodness. Perhaps the most famous of its chocolates is the Pixie. Also known as turtles, these chocolates come in milk and dark chocolate and oozes over fresh caramel and pecans — it is perfection at the palm of your hand and without fail, each Mother’s, Father’s, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and whenever I feel a chocoholic urge — without fail, I will buy a box. As a Fannie May connoisseur, I know first-hand that the best places to buy the freshest Fannie May chocolates are NOT at the mall locations, but rather the locations with the highest foot traffic(therefore fastest inventory turnover). That means. Ogilvie Station, the main Fannie May flagship store on Michigan Avenue — you get the picture. So I stopped by this location as I just remembered that I needed to get a hostess gift. The store associate, who was super friendly, assured me that these Pixies were in-stock no more than a few days. Now, I’m sure he was upfront and honest, but when I actually had a piece(after the dinner host opened the box and shared it with us guests — it’s not my general habit to eat someone’s gift and give it to them half-eaten — that’s such a faux pas, unless this is for a frenemy). anyhow, I could distinctly tell that the chocolate was hard, stale-tasting, and therefore, not as fresh as purported. This is the Loop and I can imagine this location gets a lot of foot traffic — although when I went, there was no one else in this tiny store. Possibly, the fact that this store has direct-street-access and therefore, the weather conditions outside can seep into the store and affect the temperature /storage condition of the products has some impact to the quality of the chocolates here. I think going forward, I won’t be coming to this location, but rather the one at Ogilvie, or Michigan Avenue where historically, I’ve had great luck at getting the freshest batch of Pixies. So 1 star off for this off-batch of Pixies but all in all, a nice and convenient location with excellent service.

Thank you Fannie May for saving the day! While on my errands, I realized that Boss’ Day is tomorrow. Not having time to Unilocal out a candy store, I saw a nearby Fannie May. Though Fannie May is known for their decadent chocolates and mint meltaways, I hoped that they might sell nuts specifically cashews. Running in during the rain, a corner in the small shop caught my eye: cashews in tins and bags! My Boss’ Day is saved! They sell cashews and mixed nuts in 1 lb. tins as well as ½ lb. bags. I figured that the bag would do for tomorrow and I would come back for a Christmas tin. The small store is hopping during the lunch hour with people perusing the candy around the tiny counter. I also purchased some amazing raspberry bark. It’s so good and so worth the splurge. For the bf, I got him some peanut butter candies. When I was ready to check out, the customers were courteous when they were still looking over the chocolate. I checked out quickly. I had a good experience there and will definitely return for my Christmas needs. Thanks again Fannie May for saving my Boss’ Day.
