This place has closed and been replaced by another location of Halsted Street Deli. I ate there once when it was still open and the portion sizes were small, prices were high. I think I paid $ 10 for lunch and was still a little hungry afterwards.

All I can say about this place is… meh. Went here for lunch on a day where I was in the mood for a really good sandwich. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. For a place that has the phrase«famous sandwiches» on its packaging, I had reasonably higher expectations. My chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, swiss and honey mustard on a pretzel bun was pretty much tasteless. Each bite was nothing more than bland sadness. I wanted to try their«Erik’s Famous Homemade Potato Chips.» But apparently they literally meant home made… as in YOUR home because they didn’t have any in the deli. By the way, I take issue with them even calling this a «deli»… doesn’t even come close. Anyway, save your money and go to the«freakishly fast» alternative near by. It will save you money and taste better.

I really like this place! I don’t understand why people are giving it negative reviews. The meats and the bread are delicious and they pile a ton of meat on each sandwich! My favorite sandwiches are the chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll and the Big Italian. The hours posted on the door and online are completely wrong though. I think they close at like 3 pm during the week which is crazy because DePaul has classes in the evenings so they are missing a lot of business. This place is a bit pricey but I feel like you are getting what you are paying for. I highly recommend this place!

Hours posted online and on Unilocal are completely inaccurate. They close very early and the food is fairly bland.

Sandwich was okay. Mine was kinda ruined by putting too much spicy mustard on it. Other than that, it’s just a plain old sandwich I could make at home. They didn’t skimp on meat but it wasn’t worth the cost. They were nice and quick though. I was just expecting much more since it’s not a big name. I thought the quality would have been better.

I really like this place. They make good sandwiches and the service is very friendly. I am a fan of the Richie(Corned beef and pastrami), the Big Italian, and the Turkey on a pretzel bun. A good fast option for lunch downtown.

This place is alright. A little pricy for what feels and tastes like Campbell’s soup with some lunch meat on white bread though. The homemade chips are pretty good but are way to salty to eat even a half order. Not necessarily somewhere I would recommend but also not somewhere I would recommend against either.

First off, this is in no way shape or form a deli. They sell bought-in low quality food. I payed about 7 dollars for a sandwich with bad ingredients. The bread sucks and is obviously not made or baked in house. The tomatoes have no color and look gross. The meat isn’t any better than what you could get at the grocery store yet they’re charging a price for a quality sub which is what makes me dislike the place. I don’t like restaurants that serve food I can EASILY make at home even with my terrible cooking skills. Otherwise I’ll just do it myself at a largely reduced price. Hope it shuts down because it’s a waste of space where a good restaurant could open. Its always empty besides maybe 2 tables at lunch time.

had the breakfast burrito and coffee, very good with a decent amount of ingredients, somewhat limited menu with no pastries, but the burrito was still very good, workers were nice and friendly

I use to go to this place for lunch everyday but then I stopped because they said they would no longer be ‘Erick’s deli” so I noticed they started serving breakfast. I tried it out. and I hate them!!! The one and only guy thats always cooking in the morning has the WORST attitude I’ve dealt with. I mean I know it’s morning but if your mad… don’t work an early shift.

Felt like having a bagel for breakfast this morning and figured a deli would be a good place to get one. Erik’s is a few blocks from work so I stopped in. No bagels were visible but the menu board read ‘Bagel with cream cheese – $ 1.99′ so I asked what types of bagels were available. The clerk said, We don’t sell bagels.’ As I started to point to the board he said, ‘yeah, I know what it says but …’ First, a deli that doesn’t sell bagels? Second, but has a menu board that says it does?

Nothing special, but fast and a good place to grab a bite before tackling the library. Strange homemade chips but good roast beef,

Nice little sandwich shop in the Barnes and Noble building on State and Jackson, which is part of DePaul University. The registrar’s office is in the same building. It used to be the location of Quiznos, but when the chain sandwich shop relocated Erick moved in. There is always a line in Erick’s. He makes great Rueben sandwiches, with turkey and corned beef. I have not tried the other sandwiches yet, but he has developed a nice-sized clientele, so the food must be pretty good. The prices are a little higher than you would pay at subway, McDonald’s or Arby’s, and as far as I know they do not offer combos. So, be prepared to pay about $ 6.50 to $ 8.00 for a sandwich and about $ 1.09 for a bag of chips. Erick makes his own chips and sells them for $ 1.49 a bag. I haven’t tried them yet, but they seem to be popular with the students at DePaul.

So I was almost running out of time to return to work for lunch and so I decided to try this new place that I have passed many times in Oak Park. To be in the midst of a college area, I think the prices are a bit much! I think I paid almost $ 9 for a sandwich and chips(which were not very tasty might I add). I must say the sandwich was… good. Not amazingly good but the bread was soft and they didn’t skim on the meat. BUT they did pile on the lettuce. Like seriously, if I wanted a salad, I would have ordered one. I figure if I want to spend a lot on a sandwich I will simply walk a little further to Hannah’s Bretzel. Oh and the random sour cream that was thrown in my bag, I had no idea what to do with until I got back to work to read the menu. Speaking of throwing in my bag, the customer service could use some work. I was greeted, asked what I wanted and I was just standing there until someone finally said, «Your stuff is at the counter.» You would think with those prices I could choose from a variety of delicious toppings but… not so much. Not horrible, but definitely won’t be back by choice.

I was so hopeful when this place opened… there really aren’t any deli options in the area. The ingredients seem fresh, along with the bread. But $ 7 for a sandwich that doesn’t even include cheese? Come on. And all of the sandwiches say«choice of spread» but the guy didn’t even ask me, just slathered my sandwich in mayo(gross) and sent me on my way. Bottom line: unimpressed.

A decent Turkey and Swiss sandwich with zero accompaniments is $ 7.21. I’m so bummed out — this is a great location with all the colleges around, I was so hoping for a bit more!
