My husband and I came here one night when Sushi Para M had way too long of a wait. We were hungry and wanted sushi right then, not in an hour. We Unilocaled a few places and Enso seemed like the best choice in our general vicinity. We were not disappointed. On a Saturday night around 7:00 p.m., there weren’t too many people in the restaurant. There was a large group arriving(clearly reserved in the middle of the space) but that didn’t make anything too loud. We were served promptly and they have a decent list of saki, beer, and other beverages. We ordered miso and several rolls and we were super happy with the flavors and the freshness of the fish. We tried the Crunch, Enso Maki, Crazy Eight, and Crunchy Lobster. We really, really loved each of the rolls. The flavors were intense and layered so you could taste several different things at once. Everything was super fresh and service wasn’t too fast or too slow. Prices were right and my husband and I will definitely return, especially since they are nice and close to Sushi Para M in case they’re too packed and annoying to wait. Service was friendly and the food was delicious.

First time at enso for lunch but had dinner here before at least dozen of times! Great place ! Cozy and cute! I love love love their salmon ! Lunch specials are awesome for 14 $ you get Maki of your choice(out of like 10) and 4 pieces of nigiri(again your choice) and soup and salad !!! Everything always very fresh and I know when food is fresh I eat sushi at least twice a week !! Highly recommend it and the staff is always nice!

Came on a Wednesday night and the place was not busy. Started with a Moscow Mule to drink — it was delicious. My friend and I shared the edamame and chicken gyoza to start and then ordered the Fire Dragon, Wocka Wocka, and Soul of Fire rolls. We enjoyed them in that order and thought they were all pretty good. Loved the music here and enjoyed our meal. Felt the price was fair. Would return!

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had — and I’ve had quite a bit. The steamed buns are good, but the pulled pork has to be the best; the flavors simply compliment each other so well(haven’t tried the duck breast yet though). The sushi is exceptional, the salmon was so fresh and silky it melted in my mouth. Amazing!

Blah and ugh. I honestly don’t think that I’m a very high maintenance person when it comes to service. All I really want is someone who comes by to take my order, brings me my food, and comes by once during my meal to check up and then to bring the check quickly when prompted. Enso couldn’t even be bothered to take our order. We sat there for over 20 minutes while we watched people who sat down after us get our food… When we finally flagged a waiter down to tell them that nobody had taken our order yet, she never even offered us an apology. She simply said, well I can take your order now. Seriously? How difficult is it to say I’m sorry about that. It’s really not that hard… Anyways the food was extremely lackluster and the fish was not the freshest. Our avocado was also brown. I was not impressed with Enso at all. Their prices are a bit high compared to other sushi places that are way better. I do not recommend Enso at all.

Stopped in for lunch today with my sister and niece. We had the pork belly and spicy miso broth, pad-thai ramen and beef yakisoba. Everything tasted great. The staff was very friendly and the music playlist was awesome; nice ambience! We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch!

I had their Chirashi. It was overpriced and of questionable quality. The first bad sign was the fillers — the disc’s of cucumber and lemon tugged between pieces of sashimi. The size of the sashimi was also was way too small, some about ½ of the size of my thumb. For $ 23, I got the most basic type of fish — yellow tail, salmon, white tuna, tuna cooked shrimp(half, cut horizontally). There’s not even tamago. No ikura. Just cheap fish and rice. Rip-off. I miss Bob San.

I’ve been to Enso a couple of times now and have had a very pleasant experience each visit. Modern décor and ambiance, lots of seating, and a great location make for a great night out. Recently, my friend and I decided to grab a quick dinner at Enso and man, it was good. I had the Summer Roll and the Spicy Octopus Roll, as well as the spicy miso soup and everything was absolutely delectable. The Summer Roll tasted fresh and, well, summery, with avocado and citrus flavors throughout. The Spicy Octopus Roll was exactly as I expected and was clearly made of the freshest ingredients – YUM! The spicy miso was everything I hoped it’d be and more. We didn’t go with any cocktails this time around, but it looks like they’ve updated their cocktail menu from the last time I was there. The Pomegranate Gingertini looked fabulous! Maybe I’ll grab one of those the next time I visit.

My family met here to celebrate my baby sister’s birthday. The décor is very nice and modern. The large tables are slabs of wood with matching wooden stumps for seating. The stumps are rather difficult to slide across the floor due to the weight and uneven flooring surface, be careful! Seating of large parties works well. But they may need to start offering customers pillows as your booty will get worn out sitting on the stumps… The drinks were VERY good, especially the sake sangria and Moscow mule!!! Food was very good… The sushi was fresh and nicely plated. Actually everyone enjoyed themselves even my mother, nephew and younger brother, whom have some very limited palates :-) The only thing is parking… You HAVETOREMEMBER you are in Wicker Park ON Damen and just north of the VERY busy intersection of Damen, Milwaukee and North Ave. People whom are familiar with the area KNOW what I’m talking about! My wife and I lucked up on a space after circling a few times. Besides that, if we are ever in the area and craving sushi we will DEFINITELY be back! Good eats…

First time here and it was very good! Dishes are well served, the place is very trendy and our waitress was very nice. My recommendations would be: fried rock shrimp for starters, then crouching tiger sushi, and the sizzlin ribs n rice. Perfect! And pretty cheap too

Came in early on a Friday night and got seated right away. Loved the low key lighting and the hip hop music blasting, very atypical combo, but me and my friend were truly digging it. It was a cold day so i opted for ramen. Sooooo good!!! I’m finally getting into it as I have tried two spots(ramen misoya in river north)! Ramen misoya’ environment was very brightly lit so it gave you the feeling of a quick dining, which is a good and bad thing. Nothing to complain about, Will be coming back! :)

Came here on a saturday night for a date and had a great time. I’ve been frequenting AYCE sushi places since that’s the best bang for your buck when you’re a poor student who has an appetite that doesn’t adjust to your budget. Sadly, the fish quality is always subpar at these establishments and it was nice to get something fresh for a change. My gf and I tried out the sushi nachos which were shrimp flavored chips topped with fish and avocado. It’s the first time in years I’ve had shrimp chips in a restaurant dish and it was unique and tasty. For entrees, we tried the pork belly ramen and the under dog roll. I’ve had better ramen noodles at more traditional ramen restaurants, but the pork belly here was lean and crispy. The under dog roll was the best with thick pieces of tuna. I only regret not getting more of the signature maki. Enso is a vibing spot with a nice, dark interior that you could bring a group of friends to or a significant other. Asian restaurants can sometimes have spotty service but our waitress checked up on us regularly. Good date spot!

Two friends and I grabbed a dinner here after drinks at the Violet Hour and walked into an empty restaurant on a rainy night. The menu and service were unremarkable and I wouldn’t venture out this way to return to this restaurant. The rolls were ok, but this city had far better sushi restaurants that I would rather explore or revisit.

Husband and I were luckily able to just walk-in on a Saturday night with no reservations and be seated right away. I would recommend to make reservations though as the place was very busy! And rightfully so, it’s great. Service is speedy and very friendly staff. For starters, we had the asparagus and the shiitake mushroom steamed buns. I would pas on the asparagus and would definitely come back for the buns! They were delicious. Shrimp tempura roll was perfect size and tastes great. So did the soft shell crab roll, very tasty! My husband ordered the chicken pad Thai but wasn’t pleased with it so they very kindly took it away and did not charge us for it since he didn’t eat it. I would come back and recommend this place for a second date(since it is kind of a loud place not great for first time meeting) and for group gatherings.

I decided to pick up Enso for dinner since I was in the area. I got mixed reviews about the place but Unilocal reviews and photos convinced me to try them. I placed my order and headed over. Enjoyed some friendly service and hot sake at the bar before leaving. They were really nice! I ended up sitting there a bit, taking in the space. It’s super dark and sultry — I’m noticing this trend for sushi places in Chicago. Once home we enjoyed our edamame, miso soup, sashimi sampler, salmon avocado, summer roll and a spicy tuna roll — everything was pretty darn good! Wish they delivered to us, we are a 10 minute ride down Milwaukee in West Loop! There’s no good sushi here :( Prices seem a tad high but the quality was pretty good!

Giving 3 because service was spotty and for no reason at all, just ill trained waitstaff in my opinion. We were one of three tables and waited over 20 minutes for a drink at which time we had to flag down someone. Sushi was very good– it’s the sister restaurant of Friends Sushi downtown which I love.

We came here for lunch and o my had their ramen. All of their other delicious seems so delicious though. It sucks that I get full so easily! Anyway, the service was excellent. The interior was impressive, and THATPORKBELLY was to die for! It as braised and seared just right for the tonkatsu ramen. I’m craving a bowl just writing this! See you guys soon!

Lovers of fresh, delicious sushi, you MUST try this place! Came here with a friend this Wednesday for dinner. The place is all decked it for Halloween, very cool. Seated right away and upon recommendation of our server, we ordered the special cocktail called«spice up your life” — a pumpkin and spices flavored cocktail. It was really good! For apps we did a miso soup, ceviche and the shiitake mushrooms. Ceviche was made of huge pieces of sashimi, tomatoes and avocado. Very good. Mushrooms were cooked perfectly in a tasty garlic sauce. For entrees I had the 90⁄94 roll. Loved it! Salmon with apples and other good stuff. Friend had another roll, that I can’t remember the name… but it was also really good. I will definitely be back for the next sushi craving!

I ordered the duck shoyu ramen and my boyfriend had the pork belly ramen. The portion was on the petite side, leaving me to feel hungry after my bowl. I really enjoyed slurping on the noodles. They were thick noodles which I really like. The broth of the shoyu ramen and pork belly ramen was on the sweeter side. It reminds me of phở in a way with a lot of hoisin sauce in it. Some people will like this kind of taste, but I prefer my ramen not sweet. The sweetness actually took me by surprise and I didn’t like it. The service was really good at this restaurant. We had multiple of people come to our table to fill water and making sure everything was good.

After a return visit, this spot was still pretty amazing. The pork belly ramen is still an absolute must. Id probably order this every time I’m here, just cuz it’s that good. I ordered the North Shore roll and a tuna roll w spicy mayo. The maki was good very good in fact, but not out of this world. The dessert menu was limited. Ice cream. Mochi ice cream. And fried banana w/ice cream, or regular Fried ice cream. This place wins marks for great ambience. A menu that is to-the-point to allow for hits(and lessen the misses). It’s definitely my current go-to spot for sushi in wicker park.
