This place clearly doesn’t understand serving their customers! Went in to watch the NBA finals game and have some dessert and beer. The game was on and we chose our section with a great view of the TV. After we placed our order and the food came they decided to change EVERYTV to the soccer game. Our entire section was livid and we all told the manager to turn it back on. She said she’s under strict orders by her boss to turn the soccer game on. We told the manager we would not have come in if the game wasn’t already on. She said that’s fine but she can’t turn the TV back to the game. She would be in trouble by her boss if she turned the NBA finals game on. The owner must not care about the customer. We said we wanted to leave and go watch the game somewhere else… She said ok she would comp our dessert and beer. So we walked out. I would NEVER go back to this place, it’s a joke. If I could do zero stars I would.

Having never stepped into a true English Pub, I can’t verify the authenticity of Elephant & Castle(given it’s a chain I’m guessing it’s nowhere close). But as a reviewer that appreciates a solid beer selection and a wide variety of food options, I can’t complain. My girlfriend and I were coming home from a concert and E&C was across from our hotel. As it’s located in the Loop, I imagine it is fairly busy for the after work crowd but that’s not the case on a late Saturday night. Hungry but not starving, we decided to order the truffle parmesan pub chips. They were a perfect thing to nosh on while drink a nightcap of a few beers. The malt vinegar aioli was a perfect foil for the richness of the truffle oil. If I was in the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to stop back in.

I had steak and mushroom pie, which I’ve been missing since leaving England. The pie was delicious, the only con, if you can call it one, is that my pie was so hot it never really cooled down enough to eat it. I’m not sure if that was normal, or if it was because I sat out on the patio in the hot sun. I could do without the side salad, as the salad was too big for the plate and didn’t have enough dressing. Next time I’ll probably sub for mash.

The food is mediocre at best. The décor is a good attempt at an English Pub. The best thing there is a drink called«the Strong Canadian» it is a Strongbow cider and a shot of Crown royal mixed together –absolutely refreshing and yes strong. I can recommend this drink and their chicken fingers a a good informal end of day meal.

Found this place while looking for something to eat before going to a concert. It very convenient and close by the hotel the food was just okay, their selection was pretty short for drinks. But our server gave us selection on different drinks he was pretty helpful the service was okay. More like a place you would go after coming from partying to eat something before going to bed

i LOVE E & C’s veggie burger. I am not a vegetarian, but this homemade burger is so delicious. Their fries are tasty too. Great sit down spot for a break from the Loop rush feel.

Hubby and I went for a weekend getaway in the hotel the pub is attached to and we were fairly impressed when we went to the bar to grab a drink before heading out. The bartender was amazing! Although we did come back for a late night dine in and unfortunately it was horrible dine in service! It took absolutely forever and our server went M.I.A. on us. It was unfortunate because I would definitely come back for the steak and mushroom pie!

Not sure about some of the other reviews here. Went to this place last night and had a couple of great drinks and an amazing meal. I had the Buttered Curry Chicken with Naan. Soooo good! Would totally go back again!

just looking for some Pub Grub after a work meeting while in Chicago. Great Service, good food. The wings were a bit small compared to what Im used to. The pretzel app is very good, but deep fried and a super carb coma bomb. I hade the Turkey Club and it was very good. Served it’s purpose without pretense.

I know I had Unilocaled this years ago and it seems to not be here… strange. I frequent here for both lunch and happy hour given the Loop location. I’ve never had anything here that was bad and service is almost always solid. Some of my favorites are the fried pickles and they have a really good Caesar salad. They have two sizes of wine, which is helpful depending on what you’re there for. The fishcakes are not my favorite personally. The ale and onion soup is French onion and it’s really good. If you go during lunch, they serve you very quickly. A very good place in the Loop compared to the other options.

Been twice to watch the premier league games and both time it was excellent. I got the poutine the first day. Good portion size and delicious food. I got jalepeno Mac and cheese with bacon. Not as good as the poutine but still tasty. My only problem is that the staff is not super attentive. I waited for another water for over 15 minutes and they weren’t even busy. Ultimately great place for a small bite with friends but don’t expect it to be quick.

I’m giving 4 stars after my 2d visit. Stopped in last evening for corned beef n cabbage – it was so, so. Beef was tough along with cabbage. Never thought cabbage could be tough! But today, had chicken tacos(taco Tuesday).Tacos were good. Both nights the wait staff were great. So I’m thinking I just ordered the wrong meal. One more note — I’m from Florida so this is my first n only taste of Chicago!

Solid place for an after work happy hour — it wasn’t too crowded on a Thursday night which is great for me. Upon entering, you feel like a show is a about to start as there are curtains you need to push aside in order to get into the venue. The show is about to start, and the main attraction is you! Elephant & Castle has a very English theme atmosphere with all the cool posters(I love the one that says«Stay calm and bang on») and food, such as fish n chips. We all had some appetizers: — Buffalo wings — Poutine — not too big of a fan, but still tasty — Calamari For the main dish I got the fish tacos. The dish came with three and they were tasty and GAF material. The server we had was super attentive and very nice. BATHROOMREVIEW: There is a coed single one on the main floor, or you can go to the segregate one downstairs. I went to the one downstairs. Inside it was decent, not too dirty, not too divey, but OK. Sit or squat? Squat!

It’s a nice cozy upscale bar and grill in the south loop, downtown. They have a pretty unique menu, with a variety of pub food leaning more towards Anglo Saxon style food typical in Britian. It’s a good place to try something tasty and new. Instead of a burger, how about a french onion crusted boar burger? Or some tender delicious fish cakes with a potato crust and salad? In addition, they have a five different soups you can try if you want something light. Try the carrot and ginger soup which is perfect for winter. A wonderful addition to any entrée are sweet potato fries, crispy and delicious. Not only are those reasons to stop by but it is a good place to sit down and socialize with friends over a beer. The noise level can get a bit loud though when it’s crowded, but that’s standard. Check them out! The link to their site:

I swung in to Elephant & Castle for a drink with a friend and we had an enjoyable time. Décor: Both outside and inside this place plays the part of a classic pub, and it plays it well. There are a bunch of tables and a generously-sized four-sided bar. Over the bar there are a few TVs and the music… actually, I cannot remember if there was music playing or not… Anyway, it’s a nice place for a drink or for a meal. Bathroom: Clean, well-lit, but smells HORRIBLE! Staff: The bartender was very friendly and quick with service. Drinks: We just had some beers(but they don’t have Coors Light!) Value: The prices are right about where you’d expect them to be. It’s a solid place to which I’d return again(both for drinks and to try the food).

Elephant & Castle was the first place my husband and I ate at in Chicago, and it was definitely a good choice seeing that we had just dragged ourselves out of the airport and needed food after a five hour flight. THINGS I LIKED: + décor: fun, sporty, vintage-y. + wait time: seated immediately. + high seats and tables + The mustache coasters: makes for fun selflies + My bangers and mash: two sausages on a bed of creamy potatoes. I was actually still hungry after I ate this, but it worked out because I had to eat again in two hours. Was pretty good, not the best I’ve ever had. + Service: prompt wait staff + Location: next to our hotel, Club Quarters. I can actually use my room key to get in and out of the pub without going outside. Was a fun experience, would recommend to a friend.

I had to stop for some food before heading to the airport and stopped at Elephant and Castle for lunch. I am obsessed with comfort foods and this menu was loaded with it. However, I was trying to not be a fatty, so I just got the turkey wrap and it was good. Looks like this place had some rough reviews in the past… I didn’t experience anything bad in my one single visit… I’d recommend it! I sat at the bar and the bartender was fast and friendly! :-) The most ironic part about my visit is that I learned there is an Elephant and Castle in DC. I had no idea.

Definitely pub food place. Really bad service. Apparently no refills on water. Inattentive overall in spite of the fact it was never more than half full. The shepherd’s pie wasn’t anything fancy, but it delivered. I liked the simple mixed greens salad more. If I come back, I’ll probably try the poutine, but gourmet fries let alone poutine are everywhere in the city.

This is a standard, no frills breakfast, which serves plenty of coffee. Not too bad as an attachment to the Central Loop Hotel. The egg dishes are a little lacking, but probably your safest bet. Fresh fruit cups are a plus!

Despite the friendly Canadian corporate origins of this faux-English pub chain, I had an imperialist lunch of iced tea with lemon, butter chicken poutine, and a lovely side dish of slender asparagus. I can’t speak to the inside of this location because we sat in the little fenced off patio in front of the restaurant. Service was attentive but sparse, and there was a mistake with my companion’s side order that was rectified and then apologized for. I thought the butter chicken was tender and well-seasoned, nothing earth-shattering but about what I remember from a nicer Indian restaurant in Scotland. I liked the fries used for the poutine — steak-frite shaped but smaller so one gets more surface area but still a fluffy inside. The asparagus were super-fresh and cooked perfectly; lightly sauteed or perhaps roasted with just salt and pepper. This place is a solid option for an hour-long lunch during the work week.
