Love the food ! Not overpriced, cute restaurant. Loved the kalbi, bulgogi & kimchi:) but the jajangmyeon didn’t taste Korean enough.

Food well executed. Had the bulgogi dog and jajyung myun. The shoe string fries were fried nicely with it having a crispy and crunchy texture. Drizzling hot sesame oil over the fries gave it a really nice kick to them. The bulgogi dog was pretty nice and I really wished I ordered the kimchi topping. The juice from the bulgogi carried the flavor into the bun that ties everything together. The jajyung myun was good. Splashing some sesame oil, hot and not, gives this dish some depth. Had I worked down the street or attending the school, this would absolutely be on my list of go to places!

Can’t go wrong with R4(kimchi bokkeum bap). It’s a bit spicy and comes with free side dishes, and a fried egg on top!

I went for the first time earlier this week, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion of food given for the price. I ordered the soondubu jigae, and the LA Kalbi. Both were served quickly and came with their own banchan. I’m going back there tomorrow after work!

This is a nearby Korean place without having to trek up north. The dol sot bim bap was fresh and had a good meat/veggie ratio. Most importantly, the rice was super crispy on the sides!!! Also came with a good serving of kimchee and seaweed salad. I tasted my bf’s seafood tofu soon dubu and the flavor was good with a slight kick. Not much seafood though. Would not order the mandoo next time, seems like frozen bag/was mushy in the middle. They also have certificates online! Will be back!

Closest non-fast food Korean restaurant to downtown(River North). Items ordered: 1. Korean potstickers — this came from a frozen bag that was probably bought from H-Mart. It was ok, who can screw up frying a pot sticker? 2. Giant size Korean BBQ wings — it was good. 3. Korean seafood pancake — disappointed, was very doughy /starchy. They used the frozen mixed seafood(squid, calamari). I think if they flatten out the pancake and used imitation crab meet, it would of tasted better. 4. Soon Dubu soup — I had better and I had worse, it was ok and satisfactory. 5. Kalbi lunch box — the meat was very good, pan fried perfectly, no fat. 6. Mackerel lunch box — didn’t get to eat it because I was already full at that point. It did look good however. I really wanted to give this place 3.5 stars, but considering I got all that food above for $ 62 plus tip, and it was byob, and I had a coupon(before the $ 62) and they were fast with the food… I’ll round up to 4 and I’ll be coming back.

I love their bulgogi and dolsot bibimpap. I also love their kimchi, fish cake side dishes. The resto is clean. The service is the fast and the price is also reasonable. Will definitely visit this place again. :)

Loved it!!! I’m so happy I finally find a Korean restaurant in the southside! I loved the food! I usually go to Chicago Foods but that’s too far away. The flavor is great, small place but it’s busy all the time because the food is good. I’m definitely coming back!

This place is just ‘eh’. Nothing too exciting and nothing too special in my opinion. I’m new to the Chicago area, and I was desperate for some korean food. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap and Haemul Pajeon. They were pretty average looking. but then the gochujang was really sweet for whatever reason. The service was chaos. It was probably just an especially busy time, but regardless they failed to impress. 2 stars is all I will give. I probably would not go there again unless someone gives me a really good reason to do so.

I was extremely hungry and so I was going to order on Grubhub for delivery but they didn’t deliver to my house. I had to resort to pick up and it took ~15 minutes for my order. It was empty when I went to get my food but the cashier was nice. I got the Pajeon, Sam Gyup Sal Kimchi Bokkeum, Dduk Boki Noodles, and 1 Bulgogi hot dog. The Pajeon was tasty but the hot dog was a let down. The bulgogi on the hot dog was sort of dry and there wasn’t any sauce to tie it all together. The fries that came with the hot dog was very soggy): The Sam Gyup Sal Kimchi Bokkeum and Dduk Boki Noodles were a tad bit too salty for me but had a good spice to it. The pork belly wasn’t too chewy and was good. They don’t give any side dishes other than kimchi which makes me sad because I love the side dishes.

Been here a couple of times. Nothing out of the ordinary for some Korean bites. There’s basically only one person working in the front but he does cater to the guest needs so no problem there. Food is ordinary so I would come back a couple times just to get my Korean cravings satisfied. The LA Kalbi is a little pricey in my opinion but the taste is good. We also had the chicken wings as appetizer and personally I felt that they were a bit to flavorful and I needed to eat it with rice to calm the flavors down. The bibimbop was pretty good especially the one that came in the stone bowl. For some people like me, the bottom of the rice is crispy so I enjoy eating that part. It’s cute how they give you little sides as well. However, I’m pretty sure that we got overcharged for our meal but of course we didn’t realize that until we left. Nonetheless it is an okay place to eat.

Their soups here are fantastic. The S1 was so so tasty and good. The S3 was quite spicy and enjoyable as well. The soups were very reasonably priced and came with two sides and lots of well-cooked white rice. The food always comes out very quickly and the soups are literally still boiling in their stone bowls. The only thing I would skip on is the bibimbap. This was the only thing I ordered as to go but it was just regular white rice with some sites on top. It is definitely a no frills place but I will continue coming here as the staff are very attentive and the food reminds me of the food I ate in my childhood.

This place is cozy, seats around 20. There is 1 table for 2, 1 table for 6, 1 table for 8 and 1 table for 4. It is geared towards a Korean Snack type feel/selection. So if you’ve had the typical Korean rice cakes(Dukbokgee), fish cakes(odang), etc this is the place to go. They have many typical Korean type dishes and the one I got was the bulgogi dish for about 8 dollars. The dish itself was standard in selection, good Korean type rice, ripe radish kimchi, good cucumber sidedish but the regular cabbage kimchi was more fresh, not as ripened. I personally prefer the ripened type but didn’t bother me that much. Overall a great(relatively cheaper) Korean place to get a quick bite to eat. In the future I’d probably utilize the takeout instead of the sit down. I’ll be back.

I have put in my delivery at 11:04am, it is now 1:30pm and my food has still not arrived. That is almost 2 and a half hours of waiting. Called the establishment multiple times and did not even receive an apology, just a «they will be there in 10 minutes.» It’s been 45 minutes– then they finally call, I go down to get my food, the delivery man isn’t even at the door. Will never order from here again.

So first let me say cheers for using the Eat24 online ordering system through Unilocal! It’s the first time I’ve ever used that and it was a breeze! So, thank you, Dosirak, for making my food ordering such an easy task! Also, the food was ready so quick– also appreciated! The food was equally satisfying as my experience above! I ordered the mandu dumplings and the curry rice. The mandu dumplings were good! They were served with a black dipping sauce, which was a great addition to the flavor. They were fried(I prefer steamed, but that’s just personal preference), and loaded with good flavors inside, which included various vegetables, and I believe beef. The curry rice was a mixture of beef, carrots, potatoes, onions, and of course curry rice! The flavor of the curry was good– not too strong, but still very apparent. Oh, and the side of kimchi was AMAZING! Overall, the food was good! No complaints! Also, if you are ordering ahead, try out the online ordering– it’s so convenient! It’s almost as easy as picking up the phone and ordering that way! Ha!

Average Korean Fast Food. Dosirak occupies the first floor space of a three flat that is setback for a nice front porch area on a main artery in the Illinois Medical District. Perfect spot for the health professions passerbys and or the UIC students living in the area. The no frills interior was a bit of a downer. Despite the sparse design, I was happy hear another Korean restaurant opened up in the city. As I walked in for an early supper to go order, I was confronted by the owner who happened to be Chinese. Hmmm. His wife was Korean. Ok. Tried their KimChi Stew and Spicy Pork Belly dish. The stew is a common and traditional dish. It was unfortunately subpar. The Pork was good but very oily. This place should be an encouragement to those young entrepreneurs too afraid to try. If Dosirak can make it,…

Got a takeout order recently. Good kimchi, but there was only enough in the serving for literally 3 bites. The bulgogi was too sweet and didn’t have that melding of good seasonings and umami that even average Korean places routinely turn out. Not recommended, unless you are really very hungry for Koreanish food and confined to the area. (I see that another reviewer wrote, «Best Korean restaurant in metro area!!» – lolol They must have left out a «not» in that sentence!)
