Dining Room At the Ritz-Carlton Hotel

I just called the Ritz Carlton, they are not closed. The food is amazing!!! I was there a couple of months ago. The décor is sleek and contemporary. The service is simple Excellent!

I went last weekend for afternoon tea… everything was great but I was a bit disapointed in how casual people we dressed. It has nothing to do with the Ritz so I wouldn’t lighten there score because of it. I guess I was raised to go to tea looking like a lady, the same way you go to church, in my world jeans were not an option.

I would love to live in the dining room. I went there for afternoon tea with my family and friends. We had a pretty big group but we were all accommodated nicely on lovely comfy couches and plush chairs. We had tea, finger sandwiches, scones and deserts, which came on three-​tiered platters. All I can say is «WOW!» The scones and Devonshire cream were delectable. I loved the deserts/​cakes too– the fruit tarts and sweets were almost too beautiful to eat! AMAZING!!! Not to mention the actual dining room, which was absolutely exquisite. The only complaint I have was the lousy service. We were brought all of our food without proper utensils and it took us a while to find our waitress. We also had to constantly ask for things like sugar for the tea and cream for the coffee, etc. But everything else was so great that I will definitely be back here for more.

Yup they’re closing the restaurant, however, the brunch that is so often highly raved about will be moved to their café so they’ll still have that. They also will have their tea there.
I’m not too upset, this restaurant is a bit of a disservice to the Ritz Carlton franchise (even though this isn’t even a real Ritz Carlton, it’s a Four Seasons). There are so many restaurants in Chicago that are a lot better in this price point.
I had a pretty unremarkable experience here last year for dinner. It was about $ 600 for food and wine for 2 people (prix fixe with wine pairings), and we both went home and puked it all up because they way over served us on their wine pairings (the ONLY time in my life I’ve ever puked after drinking wine). We only had so much wine because well, they poured it… but also because the food itself was somewhat average so the wine was the highlight (and who could pass up a second glass of ’88 Dom after they poured it?)…
Ick.
Based off of my experience I’d give it a 1 star, but because I’ve heard many many good things about their brunch I’ll give them credit for doing something good.

This is 5 stars all the way. This is the most beautiful room in the city and they serve a fantastic breakfast and lunch. If you are dining with relatives or need a fancy schmancy place for a bridal shower or baby shower, this is the place to go!

looking for a classy place to have a drink the other night, my fiancé and i ended up at the lobby bar/​restaurant (called the greenhouse) at the ritz. i have a new appreciation for the meaning of the word «ritzy»… the décor was glam to the max. what we liked most was the quiet, pleasant atmosphere — we sat at a comfortable table, we were able to hear each other speak, there was no cigarette smoke, and the piano player was only moderately cheesy. watching the fabulous people walk through the lobby was even better entertainment.
drinks were pricy but fun. i had a «mojitini», which tasted a little bit like my coconut shampoo but was far more effective at getting me drunk. along with drinks came delicious free munchies: spicy roasted nuts, fresh from the oven, and kalamata olives. we also opted to share the mediterranean platter appetizer, which had some of the tastiest pita bread, baba gannoush, and hummus i’ve ever had. we were sorely tempted by the buffet of adorable mini desserts but held strong and walked on by.
all in all, it was a perfect spot for a romantic drink, and certainly the cheapest ($ 40 for two drinks and an appetizer) way to put on the ritz.

A couple Christmas’ ago, my sister and I got my mom tea at the Ritz as a gift. First of all, she loved it, and if you’re ever in need of an unusual yet foolproof gift, get your mom a gift certificate for tea with you. As expected, tea was very special – the staff made the experience very enjoyable for us. Not only is the room gorgeous, but the food and tea was great as well.
I’m not sure if there are other options, but our food consisted of finger sandwiches and light dessert. I’ve also been to the Drake for tea – and I actually thought that one was slightly better. I’d go back, but I’d also like to try the other tea rooms in the city before I do.

I was here for brunch recently and all I can say is this place is EVIL. Two hours of nonstop gorging on unbelievable foods all accompanied by fresh squeezed juices and perfectly brewed coffee. Here are some of the things available off the top of my head:

All in all, the brunch at this place is every glutton’s dream and dieter’s nightmare. Step on into the abyss… if you dare! Oh yeah… optional bottle of champagne for $ 80. They have live music — really friendly musicians who are more than happy to play your favorite Disney or Peanuts tunes!

the women in my family have klepto tendencies when it comes to condiments, plastic silverware & buffets. the sunday brunch (the only meal i have eaten at the ritz) is so amazing i ziplock line my pockets.

My friend and her family were staying at the Ritz last weekend so I joined them for breakfast. It was fabulous! I’m sure it was really expensive, but I definitely enjoyed my meal!

I went to a surprise birthday tea party at the Ritz for one of my friends a few months ago. I occasionally go for tea with my family members, but haven’t been in a while. It was a great party and a new experience for my friends. I’m not a big tea drinker, but I definitely enjoyed the finger sandwiches, scones, and cakes. The tea room is also absolutely beautiful… I was thinking of bringing my mom for tea next time she comes to visit.
