I’m not very familiar with this area but I was going to an event that allowed you to BYOB. When we walked in it was not really any different than any other Liquor Store, but I was surprised by the variety of Liquor in this small store. I truly liked that they had some good prices for a corner Liquor Store. We get our stuff and then realize we need to add value to our Ventra Card and found out that the store can add value boy did that help us from having to hike all the way back to the train. When we go back the employee that was there was all laughs and he was talking to us as well as the other customers that was there. You would have thought you walked into your favorite bar the way the delivery guys, the employees and customers interacted. I wasn’t expecting to buy anything else but I saw a drink(doh I didn’t take a picture) that I had never seen in my neighborhood before so I wanted to try it but I didn’t know what beer to mix with it… it became a great and fun debate about which beer would be best in this prepackaged tomato flavored salt cover cup. I ended up picking Tecate it wasn’t my favorite drink but I’m glad I tried it out. If I was in the area I would go back again they were very friendly and had us laughing all the way out the door! Enjoy!

This place is pretty great. The owner is open to suggestions when it comes to adding new items which is pretty cool. It doesn’t look that big but the selection is pretty vast and it is done in a really efficient and organized way.

If I could give David’s Food & Liquor 100 stars I would. That’s a review cliché but I’m dead serious. First things last; I love Mom & Pop places and local small businesses, also, I adore C-Stores. So that drew me in for my chips, pop, beer, candy, paper fix. I have credentials from many years of going to hundreds of them. However, even if you don’t care about that, read further. David’s is cool as hell and if you’re in the area and need any random snacks, booze, milk, paper towels, cigs, ect… you have dum dum syndrome if you don’t give it your business. It’s owned by Adel, a young cool guy who moved to Chicago from Yemen with his SO and 5 kids to give them a better life. Did I mention he was cool? Since he is. Nice as the day is long with always a kind word and smile for each customer. As a regular he let me bring in my tiny dog G daily. Also, one day when I had to go to the store across the street and was nervous to leave my dog tied outside he actually watched George for me a few minutes. Who does that?!? For a relative stranger… while hes working? And when I needed a few boxes for moving he put some aside for me. Not only that– he remembered my birthday! Besides the amazing customer service and care he has for customers he has fair prices and great hours. It’s clean, well run, good selection. This little C-Store is awesome. 100 stars!

I think it’s really sad that my review is only the third. With the amount of traffic this place gets, there ought to be more reviews. But maybe the clientele isn’t all Unilocaly savvy… maybe I am an idealist… maybe the people who need this place when it’s time only use it as a last resort, maybe a lot of things. First thing when you walk in, nice incense smell. Cool guys behind the counter, every single time. 2 buck forties. Decent big bottles of wine. OK prices on snack food, though I’ve never resorted to that, as I know the rhythm of the neighborhood and how going to Cermak Produce before 10pm yields the best possible food purchases, always. Foremost liquors is fine and dandy, but these guys are the real deal. You want to see people streaming from the mexican karaōke bar just next door with their eyes slewn around their necks? Go to David’s. This is the place where the six packs of Corona that you find on your front curb come from, or the big bottles of Bacardi, or the Mojitos. This is where it all comes from, brother or sister. We’re all united in that need to relax that only certain types of high class can afford, no?

I refer to this place solely as «The Corner Store». It is! *points* It’s on a corner! Ahem. They’re open late, have a great selection of beer and wine for a stop and go, and I know all the dudes that work there. They’re cool! Decent pricing, usually always have the two pack special on camel lights(our smoke of choice) –if they’re not sold out– and there’s usually a dance beat thumping through the speakers. My kind of place. Corner store, thank you. I can make the trek down the block to fulfill my caffeine, pop, and snack needs no matter the weather or my attire(read: pj pants). Rock on!

These guys are just a minutes walk for me, across from the Walgreens on Kedzie and Montrose. The guys there are extremely friendly, and act accordingly the more you go there. Goes with any establishment you become a regular at. They provide a limited but basic variety of liquor and munches needs come the late nights when you’re 1) near the store, and 2) find everything nearby to be closed. Given Montrose’s CTA bus stops running at a certain point, it’s a quick alternative to Foremost Liquor which is about 10 minutes from here on Kedzie, with a significantly larger selection of products. As well of course, any bar you might want to go to east of here at around Lincoln Square. But at David’s, you at the very least are provided with a decent variety of well, call, and premium drinks — all at an affordable price. Surprisingly, they also offer a constantly updated aisle of fridges that have your microbrews. I come here often for those late nights when I’d like to pick up a six pack of beer, some smokes, and perhaps some snacked goods to go with em. All around very cool guys who work there, very good prices, and the convenience for your late night needs.
