Cookies And Carnitas

Attended a private event here. Wonderful spot and great service. We have beautiful salads and pizza that was some of the best I’ve had in Chicago. They topped us off with ice cream cookies for desert. Everything was great. I would not hesitate to host a small dinner here.

At this month’s Sauced Night Market I stumbled across the Cookies and Carnitas table… One glance at those giant cookies and I of course made a mental note to save room for dessert. I was told that the Oat Cherry and the Kitchen Floor cookies were the two most popular, so I went with the Kitchen Floor. No surprise, it was delicious. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty, and soft without being overly oozy. I will definitely be back to snag another cookie, and maybe try the carnitas next time as well!

Love, love, love! My husband and I have been wanting to check this place out for ages but our schedules were conflicting like crazy, finally last night we went and it was so worth it. Love that it is BYOB too. We tried the Amish Chicken pulled carnita and it was good, I totally forgot what actual natural chicken tastes like. And their «kitchen floor» ice cream sandwhiches are awesome and huge! We barely finished one between us. Pretty laid back cool atmosphere, cash only btw but didn’t really bother us, and it’s counter style so you order and pay and then sit down. If they rather invest their money more in the quality food then to pay serves, being able to use credit cards, no liquor license I am all for that, because most restaurants invest in the wrong area and the quality of food is not that great. Love that this is in my neighborhood, I will be sure to be back and try other items on the menu, maybe with pork this time.

Always a line and overpriced for very rude and pushy service. Really not worth the wait. There are better food service stations around.

Not only was the owner funny and efficient– the food was SUPERB! We had carnitas tacos — so AMAZINGLY delicious. I know this sounds weird– but the first thing I noticed was how awesome the corn tortillas were! The next thing I noticed was how perfect the carnitas tasted. Finally the salsa — some type of smoky mole salsa or something — PHENOMENAL. We’re from Minneapolis — I wish there was a Cookies and Carnitas back home!

This weekend me and my girlfriend went to the market and shared 3 tacos– pork belly, chorizo, carnitas. All were great with the spicy salsa and sour cream. Big portions and very filling!

Carnitas taco was delicious! My dog stole some and he loved it too. The service was great, and they had a ton of yummy looking tacos and sandwiches. I’ll definitely be back.

This is a true neighborhood diamond. My son and his girlfriend had been telling me about this place for quite a while. They took me there for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had the Dark Green which is a fantastic salad loaded with scrumptious veggies. My son and his girlfriend enjoyed the skirt steak tacos and another great salad. They have the very best homemade cookies. I saw other customers enjoying their piping hot pizza. Seeing that pizza almost made me want to go off my diet. They also have a coffee shop next door which has this slow drip coffee. The coffee was the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this sweet spot with a no frills warm atmosphere and food with fresh farm to table ingredients.

I was hoping this was going to be an absolute homerun… cookies are my thing – like everyday sort of a thing.
I tried the kitchen floor… and well, it was salty, maybe on accident? Idk, but it def overwhelmed the experience of what could have been a good cookie.
The carnitas was tasty… but also, verged on being too salty. However this is a def must try… as the marinade was pretty good.
Don’t bother w the steak: prepared alright, but standard no wow factor.
$ 4 street tacos: I’ll pass next time.

Carnitas sandwich is great — done with just a small squirt of hot sauce instead of being slathered in bbq sauce. The slaw they put on it is still crispy and vinegar based instead of mayo based. Everything is hand made, fresh, and it all comes together for a very indulgent lunch. I suggest taking it home to enjoy with a good cold beer. Yum.

A nice suprize at the Green City Market. Amazing Pork Sandwich on the perfect hand made bread. Satisfiying flavorfull and for sure worth seeking out.

Came to the market specifically for the pork sammy and was not disappointed. They got the pigs cooking on racks in the back and will make you orgasm when they cut it up right in front of you. Come with an appetite and some beer and you’re good to go.
