After having our last two daycare experiences end on a sour note, I think we finally got it right with preschool. After being stuffed into a classroom with too many children, the peaceful, small group environment at Colibri is a breath of fresh air. The owner/lead teacher, Pilar, is just wonderful. She’s always available to talk about what’s going on with your child and work through any issues they might be having. For a small school, Colibri has a lot going on. My son will be starting violin lessons soon, there’s an art teacher that comes in once a week, and there are already several field trips planned for the summer. Throw in the Spanish immersion concept, and I feel like my son is being exposed to a ton of different areas. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I love the in-home environment. The kids are gardening and cooking, which isn’t something you’d see at a lot of centers. And the small group leaves a lot of time for meaningful interactions with the teachers — I love when my son brings home a book he’s put together. Colibri is a wonderful addition to the school scene in West Town. :)
