Very solid, cheap lunch option! I got the quarter chicken meal with rice and a drink for 5.50 and was very satisfied.

Have been going here for a couple of years already and has not changed one bit since the beginning. The owner and employees are always friendly and helpful. At one point I would be able to walk to the counter not saying one word, give them my money and they would already have my order ready in minutes. My goto would be a quarter chicken dark with rice and a drink. Pretty much anything on their menu is good. This is right in the financial district and gets pretty packed. During the lunch hours the line will go outside the door.

Cluck yeah! Chicken Planet is the best! Simple, no frills lunch spot in the Loop. Plus, it’s relatively healthy and cheap. The chicken is cooked to perfection. My daily go to’s: –Half/Quarter chicken meals with a side(rice, corn, or mashed potatoes) and grilled pita bread –Chicken roll: Grilled chicken with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and mayo on a grilled pita Complete the meal with BBQ or Salsa(the BBQ sauce is the bomb). To sum things up… CP is cluckin’ awesome.

You walk in to a giant grill full of chicken. Does it get any better? This place is a great stop for lunch in the loop. The guy working the cash register is super friendly, service is fast, prices are low, and the chicken is good! It gets a bit crowded during lunch, but it’s worth it.

I don’t understand the attraction to this place. The chicken is dry, and tasteless. Not worth the wait, especially since this location is surrounded by so many other amazing lunch spots.

This is my favorite grilled chicken spot in the entire city. There’s no comparing it. The chicken is amazing each and every time I go, and the homemade hot &BBQ sauces are incredible. I always tell my friends/family to check this place out when they’re in the loop. My favorite!

A great lunch spot for those who work in the loop. I always get the chicken pita wrap with an extra pita on the side for a total of $ 6.25 with tax. The pita has lots of filling, and with the extra pita, the food is filling enough for a lunch. I would go here more often but it’s location is at the south end of the loop and is a bit of a walk.

Big fan here. I gotta say, I think this place is fantastic. Now, you gotta be weary, its sketchy looking from the outside. Promise you, its worth it. The chicken is delicious. The sides are a-ok and the price is out of this world. Worth a swing by for a quick and easy lunch. I’ve come through a couple of times and there has been a line out the door and down the block. It seems people in the loop like a good discount chicken meal. If you have a bit of time the line moves pretty quickly and again, its worth it.

It is today(of all days), that is apropos to stop and think for a minute about Chicken Planet. For today, is Back to the Future Day. Yes, a scant 30 years ago, one Marty McFly and another, Doc Brown cast themselves into the inexplicable future of 2015. A future replete with Cubs victories and flying skateboards. Some. Also me. Sometimes think back in a melancholy daze about going back to the past. Another year, perhaps, I don’t know, maybe Hill Valley in 1985. When the question, «do you have a kale salad» would be answered by a confused stare. When food was served in styrofoam containers because styrofoam is AMAZING. When being gluten free meant you were a moron. Thankfully, scant remnants of this glorious past remain. I don’t know if Chicken Planet is the result of a 10 trip, pain-in-the ass move in a plutonium powered Delorian going 88 miles an hour or what. But somehow they did it. They pulled off 1985 in 2015. In the loop(ish) to boot. Ahhhh hhhhhhhhhh. Chicken with potato salad. Chicken with mashed potatoes. Chicken with rice. Chicken with cole slaw. That feels right. And I want to seen them take the raw chicken out of a huge rubber garbage can and put it on the grill. I want cheep prices. $ 5 for lunch.(No coke, pepsi). Yes, how wonderful it is to leave my cubicle for a bit and reminisce. Today, we were told that if we all complete our corporate engagement surveys and put 5s for everything(completely agree) we wouldn’t have to have quarterly meetings about engagement. If we didn’t, there’d be meetings. I guess that means I(completely agree) that I have a friend a work and my work is interesting to me. Oy, the beatings will continue until morale improves. Thank goodness for Chicken Planet. Thank goodness for stryofoam.

I want to first off say I have been eating a chicken roll sandwich almost every day for lunch for about 2 ½ months since I’ve known about the place. I’m apparently a creature of habit. ALL the food here is delicious!!! The chicken is so juicy and grilled to perfection. On my chicken roll specifically I get cheese, mayo… And then I dip it in honey Dijon sauce! So good! The pita type bread it’s wrapped in is so buttery-tasting! I think all the staff there is great, respectful, attentive, and really quick! The owner mans the register(which tells a lot about his enthusiasm/consideration for his company) he’s very nice and personable. I love this place and will continue to tell everyone I know to go here for lunch!

The Good: –Fairly healthy — grilled chicken meal. Nothing fried here(big +) –Menu is plain and simple. decision is easy: pick the chicken and a side –Fast service –Their salsa is so great. Bad: –I wish their sides were more spruced up. They all seem boring and simple. Cole slaw is very mayo based. mashed potatoes look like they came out of a box. They could add better salads like spinach or Jerusalem or tabouleh as a side.

The visual as you enter the door will stay in your mind for a lifetime. 200 chickens cooking on two grills– each grill about the size of a queen mattress. I’ve been a planet head for over 10 years following them from their old location on Jackson. I get the ½ chicken with rice. It’s awesome, real, fresh meal. The chicken roll with no mayo is a dieters dream– great tasty lunch for about 300 calories. The owner usually runs the register and seems to know and appreciate his customers. His staff work quickly and politely to keep em moving out the door(chickens and customers that is). The hot sauce is good and it seems to have sort of fermentation going on. Not sure if that is intended but it is delicious.

Very basic menu, but sometimes that is good because I enjoy quality over quantity. I got the grilled chicken wrap with cheese and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Both were very good. My bf got half chicken(white meat) and rice for the side. He loved it. Very fresh and fast service. Would definitely come back.

Really good lunch option. For just over 5 bucks you get a quarter chicken with a side and a drink. The chicken is moist and flavorful. Two choices of sauces are available and the BBQ is good but the hot is totally wack, in all honesty. There was a line out the door when I went but it moves pretty quickly. Will definitely be back.

Nothing fancy here. No brines. .No rosemary, thyme or sage. .just simple, straight-forward, nicely grilled chicken. The lines can be long, but they’re extremely efficient and will have you out in no time. Sides are decent. I usually opt for the rice. Salads are made with iceberg, tomato and red onion.

When chicken is done right, I’m a fan. When it isn’t, I’m a hater. Chicken Planet definitely does it right! A no frills eatery in the Loop serving just chicken, which they grill to perfection. I always ask for dark meat(pardon me, white meat insisters), and the meat falls off the bone, is moist, and boasts of flavor. If you’re in need for a chicken fix and it needs to be a quick meal, come here!

So our office ordered from Chicken Planet today. It was a first. The one that organizes our lunches recently audited seamless to locate new restaurants that recently started using the service. I ordered the half chicken with corn on the cob and cole slaw. The food arrived 15 minutes early. The chicken was perfectly cooked, not too greasy and not too dry. It was juicey. I am not a huge fan of corn on the cob to begin with given that it often gets stuck in one’s teeth, but this corn on the cob was really great and travelled well. The cole slaw was classic american cole slaw. This place will definitely be a staple in our lunch rotation.

I really liked this place. The chicken is really good, it’s cheap, and the service is super friendly and fast. I had a side order of rice and it wasn’t anything special but the chicken is the star anyways. Good flavor but slightly on the dry side. I noticed that they cook a bunch of chicken and let them sit on side which explains the slightly dryness. But half a chicken, a side, and drink for $ 7 is a great deal.

I am shocked I have not written a review here yet. I’ve worked downtown Chicago for 5 years now and this is still the BESTLUNCHPLACEINTHELOOP. –great grilled chicken for a great price(half chicken for ~$ 6) –comes with pita and a side(mashed potatoes is my fav) –the salsa is amazing for dipping –the churn here amazes me, you’re usually in and out within 2 minutes –indoor seating is limited, but i’ve never waited more than a couple of minutes When this place used to be a few blocks from my work, I came here at least 2 times a week. Now that it’s almost a 15 minute walk, I will still make the walk about 2 – 3 times a month. Great place and run very efficiently with good cheap food. The owner/cashier also calls you CHIEF and BOSS after he starts to recognize you, he’s the man.

What a great little treasure! Was recommended to try this place out by a colleague. I have walked by this place so many times, i regret not stopping in sooner. What a great lunch fix; quality chicken at an amazing price. ¼ White Chicken + Pita Bread + Corn on the cobb = $ 5.50. Yes, $ 5.50, that is not a typo. Also, can I take a second to mention how amazing the chicken tastes; its juicy and seasoned well. I like the BBQ sauce, its yummy; the spicy sauce is a bit weird in texture– it has foam on top. I have also had their Chicken Wrap and it was delicious! I have been there twice in the past 2 work days! They have a new loyal happy customer!

This is a no-frills take out place(though they do have a few tables inside). What they do, they really do right, and that is grill chicken — lots and lots of chicken. For under $ 7, you can get a ½ grilled chicken, a side, a drink, and a pita. All of the food is fresh and tasty. The chicken is never dry. You are in and out of the place in a few minutes, even if the line is long. They have their service down! The owner is so nice and friendly! You can get BBQ sauce and/or salsa and they do not charge you extra if you want a few more. I highly recommend the salsa — very good with a bit of a kick. One of my most favorite lunch options in the loop. Huge bang for your buck!

Holy smokes! This is my new favorite lunch spot(as if I ever had one). It was nearly 0 degrees out and I dragged my lunch mate on a 15-minute walk for some grilled chicken. We each had an order of quarter chicken with dark meat, pita bread, and side of mashed potatoes and gravy. All that for less than $ 5! The chicken was well seasoned, moist, tender, distinctive, mouthwatering, enticing, etc. Okay, I’m running out of adjectives. Just try it and thank me later. The only downside is it’s messy and you will leave smelling like a grill. Don’t take your office crush here. Note to self: I have to return and try the different bottles of sauce!
