Dave Johnston played at my father’s funeral this past weekend and he was outstanding! He asked me the details and any particular songs, and then took charge. He was at church early and spoke with the music director. He played outside at the cemetery and it was about 32 degrees out. He was professional and very nice. He played Amazing Grace, Danny Boy and others. I highly recommend Dave. I don’t do reviews very often, but I am very happy to write this one! Thank you, Dave!

Dave performed at our wedding yesterday. What an amazing experience! He sent us a demo CD, was very professional and friendly. He was so nice and the pipes were an amazing addition to our ceremony. My wife and I would highly recommend Dave if you are looking for a bagpiper! Everyone in attendance was impressed and he was so accommodating to our needs and wants on our special day. We used Dave for our wedding at Café Brauer in Lincoln Park Zoo on July 3^rd, 2014. Dave was excellent and went down a storm with all our guests. You won’t find a better piper in Chicago!!.
He was very professional and responsive in the build up to the wedding and the fact that he has done so many ceremonies before meant he knew exactly what to do and when which obviously eased everyones stress levels.
If you need a piper for any occasion I wouldn’t look any further.

We just had our wedding on June 29^th, 2013. Dave performed wonderfully. I contacted Dave about 3 months before the ceremony and he promptly sent a CD of his playing. We had minimal communication — just the essentials — for Dave to participate in our wedding as a surprise to our guests.
When wedding day came, Dave was well prepared. He asked beforehand on the bride’s color preference so that he could match his kilt/​tartan to the color. He lead us through the crowd, to our seats and then continued performing. It was perfect, exactly what we wanted and very hassle-​free.

Dave at Chicalba Bagpiping did an amazing job at our wedding. We had him surprise guests by appearing at the back of the church during the recession. He snuck in un noticed and then belted out joyous tunes. The music was beautiful and was such a fun touch. Dave also stuck around long after the ceremony to take pictures and even play another song as we boarded the trolley (after doing a long receiving line!). All of our guests were so impressed– as were we! Also, before the wedding Dave sent us a CD of some of his different songs so we could pick out the ones we wanted him to play. He also asked our wedding colors so he could match his kilt! Sooo thoughtful! I would highly recommend using Chicalba Bagpiping!
