CTA sucks at 95^th station SUCKS! THE 115 is never on time because drivers show up late. At 95^th now waiting on the 115, the bus pulled in and the driver got out and told everyone waiting my shift is done and y’all gotta wait. #getittogethercta

What can you say its CTA it a lot of people trying to commute from the train to the busses or the busses to the train.
It’s cleaner to me than it use to be although I was surprised and very late that they changed some of the spots where the buses pick up and drop off passengers.
There is a difference in this station then some of the ones in the suburbs, downtown and the north side… this is true!

It not that many people this morning thanks God no kids this time maybe they on there spring break.

It’s a good thing this station (one of the busiest in the city) will be renovated. The station is really big, so make sure you know where your bus stop is if you’re transferring from the train. It’s also kind of scary, as big buses, cars, and large groups of people are moving quickly in what appears to be randomness. It has a Dunkin’ Donuts and a small store inside, which is nice in the mornings. It’s one of the busiest stations I remember hearing with thousands of users daily who get off here to access the «East Side» and «South Chicago» neighborhoods. I have gotten to this stop about a dozen times in the past few years (during the day), and have not had any problems. I have, however, received well over a dozen notices of theft, assault, and threats with guns to people either going to the train stop or from the train stop to CSU. If you’re here, just be careful and aware of your surroundings… like you should at all train stops.

Has to be the worst train stop in all of CTA stops. If you don’t hate taking public transportation this place will certainly do the job. I recommend avoiding it if possible.

This station is a TRUE hellhole! I hate having to come to it. Nothing but thugs, criminals, would-​be (no will-​be) criminals, drugdealers, drug addicts, and no-​manners people at this place.
One day in early Summer of 2007, as I was about to get on the train, there was a major fight inside the south side of the station, and everyone who was inside the station ran from every direction just to see it (stupid, STUPID as hell if you ask me, all of it!), and the station attendant and several CTA employees ran to break it up, and, a dirty hoodlum jumped over the turnstile and got a free train ride in the absence of the station attendant/​CTA employees.
Another incident that happened at this station during that period involved me! Some girl, in her early 20s, like me, saw me wearing a pair of capris with the words «Holla Back» written on the back of them and looked at me, and shouted, «You fake ass bitch!» I was like, whatever, I don’t wear stuff like that and I don’t buy it, but someone bought this for me three years ago, and I’m wearing it today because I didn’t have anything else to wear as far as bottoms go. People at this station like to pick fights and instigate shit! I’m surprised that, as much as I saw a fight involving me and some jealous, smack-​talking hoes (that’s exactly what they are) right around the corner at that time, nothing ever popped off.
All of the above rightfully serve as reasons why I hate this station, don’t like the Red Line as a whole too much, and don’t like many of the people who live in that area. Stay away, all you better-​educated, better-​mannered people, because I will.

After nearly 30 years as a off-​and-​on commuter through the 95^th Street/​CTA Red Line station, I can tell you this is the most ghetto place I have ever seen. Despite idle talk and the promise of federal grants to change it, I don’t believe it will ever change because it’s part of a larger problem. This is a city-​funded ghetto that outgoing Mayor (Dick) Daley and former CTA CEO (now CPS) head Ron Huberman should be ashamed of themselves.
I’ve used the word «ghetto» twice. Just to be clear, I’m not using it as cool slang like «Rapper Gucci Mane is a ghetto superstar» or to note a particular less expensive product or store, as in, «Aldi’s is straight ghetto.»
No, by definition, the 95^th Station is ghetto because by limiting the flow of public transportaion here when the City of Chicago continues for another 4.5 miles farther south is to ghettoize a large group of lower-​income and likely car-​less working class people. Because a large number of these potential commuters are Black and Latino Americans, this is racist.
To further limit public transportation possibilities by cutting back on nighttime bus routes that depart from this station (while spending millions «saved» on overtime pay for bus drivers doing the work of fired bus drivers) is criminal, Mr. Rodriguez.
For the last year and change, I’ve been car-​less. It was a particularly horrific period in my life and my family’s life. That’s not to say you have to have a car in Chicago. In Lincoln Park, Bucktown, Andersonville, Wrigleyville, it’s probably an expense one could do without on a daily basis. Out south in the city that’s still the city, not having a car is to be asked to be confronted by crime, nasty civil servants and worst of this climate’s natural elements.
In specific to this particular station, as the Red Line announces entering the station, «This is as far as this train goes.» This is the problem. At night, after 8 p.m., this means a traveler is severely limited in their options. That invites shadey jitney operations to walk around barking their services since commuters exiting the train have only a handful of places to stand. It’s like creating a captive audience to prey upon. At about this time, the two cops that infrequently sit down on folding chairs (can’t make this up) watching people walk by, leave by 8 p.m., you know, because it’s not so safe late at night. Hate to have the police inconvenienced.
Instead it’s you and several gangbangers, the domestic violence couple, Drunk Old Man and at least a 100 to 200 other hard-​people coming home from second shift and others heading to work overnight. What we get instead of the city’s best is a dirty, grimy station that feels like a crime scene waiting to happen. Even the LED display is often out-​of-​order blinking the wrong date and time.
Each year this station has gotten worse, as if that was possible.
There used to be a Bank of America ATM machine here, but for one reason or another it’s been removed. What does it say that even a cash station doesn’t feel safe here. It’s just another abandoned service.
The CTA credt card pass machine has been broken for about seven months. (The same machines work just fine at Roosevelt [South Loop] and Belmont.)
Public officials know this is the Ghetto Station.
So each year, about two weeks before every election some Democrat candidates stand around here and shake hands and ask you for your vote. Until someone lives up to the promise of a federal grant to renovate or a city commitment to beef up safety here, don’t lend them a hand when a middle finger will do nicely.

It was a Tuesday night; I had had a long day at work redoing reports and decided to hit the gym.
After my strenuous work out I was exiting the Addison red line station and the doors of the train had just closed, and train pulled away when I realized with paralyzing fear I had left my purse on the train. Panic stricken I run down to the attendant and tell him through near tears my plight. Crack employee he is, he gets on the phone to dispatch and relays MaryAnne’s current tragedy. While I could not hear the other end of the conversation, I can only imagine how it went:
Other end of the phone: «Got her purse stolen?»
Addison attendant: «No, left her purse on the train.»
Other end of the phone: «Stupid girl»
Yes, I could hear the empathy through the phone and security glass.
Fast forward to the following morning, I am traumatized due to the loss of my favorite purse. I normally don’t play favorites with my accessories, but this is a Banana Republic brown suede bucket bag. From nearly 10 years ago. I couldn’t replace it if I tried. Never mind the possessions in the bag:

Ipod (with 1,000,000,000 songs, yes, 1,000,000,000.)
Makeup bag
None of which could be replaced. I don’t want to think about the groveling involved in a missing F Scott Fitzgerald book from our fine library system.
Wednesday morning 10am I get the call at my desk. It’s Mari from the 95^th Red line station. They have indeed found a bag. She asks me to describe it. Me: «it’s gorgeous, brown, suede» Laughing.
Mari: «You can pick up the purse anytime today at the 95^th station.»
Me, thinking: 95^th? Wow, that’s far.
Me, out loud: «Can you put it on the train and send it to Howard station?»
Mari: «No.»
Me: «Alright, 95^th it is.»
Now the real adventure begins; my trip to the 95^th station. Now, prior to this I have never been south of Comisky on the red line, so I’m super excited. The trip itself is lackluster. The station however is like a mecca. One of the attendants walks me back to this area off the platform area for employees only. It’s like an office; except they’re watching LOST in the breakroom. Then I see it, my purse. Behind security glass. My beloved missing purse. All contents intact. The hero of the story, in case you’re wondering is Richard Anderson. CTA employee who found it and turned it in. Moral, always keep a plethora of your business cards in your purse or wallet so the CTA can phone you.
