The building was formerly home to a bank. The city has acquired it and under the Chicago Office of Tourism, it’s ground floor is the Chicago Tourism Center. The first thing you will encounter is a large reception desk that has brochures and helpful advisors to give you information about everything that’s happening in Chicago, particularly in the arts and entertainment. This is also the Loop location for Hot Tix, the half-price theater ticket outlet(312−554−9800.) Behind this reception area is a huge, high-ceiling, and well-lit gallery space. The show I attended was«Printervention: Printing for the Public,» an exhibit of over 70 posters and prints inspired by the art works created within the WPA(Works Progress Administration) under FDR’s New Deal in the 1940s. Many of the posters that I saw were thought-provoking, artistically creative, well-executed, and occasionally, humorous. There was also a mobile silkscreen printing cart that was scheduled to travel the parks and streets to distribute art works.
