Chicago Sinfonietta

Boffo concert tonight! Mei-​Ann Chen has the Sinfonietta playing with wonderful ensemble, expression, and polish. This is a terrific symphonic group which should put their show on the road.

Did I take music appreciation in college and obtain an arts degree in Chicago? Sure. That doesn’t mean I know a lot about classical music, but thankfully, Chicago Sinfonietta performances don’t require me to be a master of Mozart to enjoy them.
I have attended many performances over the years and have never been disappointed. Conductor Mei-​Ann Chen is always a delight to watch; she is probably a big reason I keep going back for more.
The musicians are wonderful and the programs so unique, like truly cultured mash-​ups of the unexpected. With performances coinciding with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (gospel choir! JacobTV Mountain Top Speech remix!) and Dia de Los Muertos (wine pairings! masks!) to outer space themes and a Project Trio appearance, it’s hard not to look forward to seeing and hearing what the future holds for the Sinf.

I give ‘em 5 stars just cuz I got to play with them once.
