Nick is an excellent instructor! My seven year old son is taking guitar lessons with him. He is so patient and he makes learning very easy! I would highly recommend him. My son is excited about his progress! He has had weekly lessons for almost a year now and we plan to continue as long as he’s interested.

Never had more fun playing guitar – nor learned as much – since I started taking lessons with Nick Ferrer aka Chicago Guitar Teacher a year ago. Nick’s prices are reasonable and he’s flexible about schedules if you give him fair notice. I really like Nick’s teaching style. He tailors each lesson to my style and skill set, but it’s not like we’re just trying to learn the chords of a new song each week to tick off a box. Nick obviously spends a lot of time thinking about how to approach each lesson beforehand, printing out sheet music and tablature and identifying sections and guitar parts that ultimately get me into playing the song. He’s always encouraging but also pushes me to try out things I haven’t done much of, be it singing while playing or stomping on and off pedals during a song. He’ll introduce theory or scales or chords or exercises occasionally where a certain song or riff calls for it. I definitely come out of every lesson feeling I got a little better but I’ve always had a lot of fun.

While I do not know how to rate a ‘best’, as in best pizza in Chicago, or best guitar teacher, It is easy to say that Nicholas will show up each week having put in complete preparation and rehearsal for your lesson. He will be more prepared than you are. =) More so, he has developed a comprehensive lesson plan for different levels of playing and will incorporate the materials and songs you want to do into that general lesson plan, merging your own goals and likes with a well thought out educational path. He is agreeable, personable, punctual and well versed. I have been working with Nicholas for five years and I would be hard pressed to give anyone higher marks as an instructor or as a person.
