Chicago CryoSpa is well known for its unique cryotherapy services(yes you get the deep freeze treatment!). Although this is not quite my cup of tea, the facilities look very impressive and I can see the how this can be an alluring treatment activity. I visit Chicago CryoSpa for periodic therapeutic massages from Rozie, who I have actually followed from other establishments. Yes she is that good. First of all Rozie has a winning and positive personality. Second and more importantly, she listens to what is bugging you(twinge in the shoulder and tightness in various body parts come to mind) and does her very best to focus on those specific areas with her magic fingers coupled by her wealth of expertise. She does not beat me like a round of pizza dough, but methodically puts intense and soothing pressures upon my aching body. Rozie will also recommend helpful stretches that come in handy after the massage session is over. Time and money(along with reasonably decent health) keeps me from seeing Rozie more often, but if I need a weekend«tune up» then I look forward to visiting her for a wonderful and relaxing massage session.

I highly recommend checking out Chicago CryoSpa if you are in the Chicago area! First of all, the spa offers services such as whole body cryotherapy, local cryotherapy, massage, and Vitamin B injections. You will not get this experience at any other spa in the Chicago area! I first visited the CryoSpa to try out the whole body cryotherapy for chronic pain and joint pain. Although the idea of being«frozen» is a little intimidating at first, it was an amazing experience, and I am now already addicted to «freezing!» The 2 – 3 minutes that you actually spend in the chamber goes by quickly, and when you exit the chamber, it feels great! Plus, there is an exercise bicycle right there in the room for you to get your blood flowing afterward. After my experience in the cryo chamber, I felt immediate pain relief and a boost of energy that lasted for a couple of days. I will definitely continue to utilize cryotherapy as part of my pain treatment regimen! I also visited the spa and received a couple of great massages by Josh! He is highly skilled in providing deep tissue, trigger point, myofascial, key point therapy and myofascial stretching. I had booked an appointment with him as I have been in search of a highly skilled massage therapist to work with to relieve my chronic back, shoulder, neck and hip pain greatly caused by sitting at a computer all day, and after the first visit with Josh, I walked out of the CryoSpa without any pain, for the first time in a few years! After my second appointment, I was just as much impressed and relieved of my pain, and he has shown me some great stretches to do at home as part of my daily self-care. As a Licensed Massage Therapist myself, I know just how difficult it is to find a great Massage Therapist out there who consistently provides results you can count on! I am a tough critic, and I can honestly say from personal experience, that Josh does not disappoint! During my last visit to Cryo Spa, I even had the opportunity to meet and have a great discussion with Jim Karas himself. He is as vibrant in person as in the ads! I challenge you to visit Chicago CryoSpa and experience all l that I have for yourself! ~Tina Haag, BS, RN, BSN, MJ, LMT Chicago, IL

I bought a gilt city deal many months ago, and have been using it every time I have an ache or pain. I play a rough sport, and regularly do PT exercises and acupuncture. I was a little weary of the idea at first. I’m not a science person, but the basics behind the idea of cryotherapy make sense. So, needless to say I went into it thinking it wouldn’t really do much. First, Kristen is SO nice– and I’ve met Jim once and he was very kind and gave me some great advice for my achilles. I went for my 4th time this week. I’ve been in the process of moving and lifting a lot of boxes and carrying them up and down stairs. It was probably that and the humidity– but I could barely walk, my knee hurt so bad. I went in for my first local treatment(all others have been full body) and it was GREAT. It felt a little wobbly at first, but within an hour I didn’t even think about the pain anymore, didn’t have any. The next morning it wasn’t hurting and I was able to go for a jog, finished, and there was no post-jog knee pain. During the full body, Kristen talks to you and helps keep your mind off the fact that it’s extremely cold. At the end of every session(only a few minutes for the whole process) — I feel so energized and bright all day long. I have no idea how often you would need to go for weight loss– I would assume a lot, but for everything else it has worked wonders for me. I’m a recent grad and still jobless, so buying a package right now would be really silly of me. As soon as there’s another deal though– I am grabbing it. I would recommend that anyone give this a try!

I have been going to the cryospa on/off for 2 years and I have to say that I always have a 5star experience here. From the time I enter the Cryospa until the time I leave I always feel there is a great combination of customer service, and different treatments that have helped keep me going as an endurance athlete. Kristen and Alexis are the two front desk people whenever I have gone there. They really are professional and make the experience a good one. I was apprehensive the first time I came to «get frozen.» Kristen actually sent me some research articles on Whole Body Cryotherapy before I went to show me the science of the process. When I arrived the walked me through the process. I put on a robe and protective gear for my hands and feet. THEN… the cryochamber! I think it is –300degrees? But it is pretty cold. The good thing is that you are only in for 2 – 4 minutes and they monitor your temperature as you go. The key is to keep talking and laughing with Kristen and Alexis. They will even take a picture of you waving from the cryochamber-which is pretty funny. There is also«local cryotherapy» and I have had it for my knees after a few workouts. Overall the question is, «Does this actually work?» Well, I can say that I have A LOT More energy for 24 hours after treatments. I also think that I am less sore the following day after a workout, but I am not 100% sure. There is also an excellent massage therapist who works out of here. Josh is very effective at addressing soft tissue injuries. He also does some techniques that release fascial issues, and I found these to be helpful in the 2 times I worked with him. I wanted to share my experiences, because it is definitely different and I think people will enjoy the great customer service. I think everyone will need to decide on their own if it works for them.

I had my first massage here last weekend and can say I was pleasantly surprised. The facilities were a lot nicer than I was expecting for the location of the spa. I had my massage by Josh and similar to another review that mentioned him, he gave me one of the best massages I have ever had. The amount of pressure was perfect and he knew all the right places to apply it. He made the process of getting the knots out of my back enjoyable and I left feeling relaxed and excited to come back for another one. However, when I asked the receptionist what the pricing for packages I was shocked. Here is what they said, $ 135 for an hour massage, if you buy five you get the massages for $ 125, and for 12 you get them for $ 100. Honestly, give a better discount for bulk packages. It will do wonders for your business. The place is relatively new, but I think if they came up with a better pricing plan it would be a place I would go back to more frequently. As for now, I plan to go back for a massage every now and then, but it’s not something I will do very often.

I had my first experience at Cryospa yesterday, directly following a 95 mile bike ride. As an avid cyclist and weight lifter, I’m always looking for new ways to apologize to my poor joints and muscles, so the concept of putting myself in a subzero tank for three minutes was both intriguing and exciting. I have to say, after being«frozen», and having some compression therapy, I woke up the next morning and my normally tired and achy legs felt amazing. One of the benefits of the cold therapy is rapid muscle recovery. I returned the following day and saw Josh for a massage. I have worked in a full service spa and salon for 8 years, and have become a bit of a massage snob. Josh exceeded my stiff expectations– he did two of the most important things. 1. He knew exactly how much dialogue to engage in, and when to allow me to enjoy my time while he worked on me. 2. Josh initiatively knew where/how to apply pressure. In my opinion, this is a clear sign he has mastered his craft. I also enjoyed some interactive stretching techniques that he showed me. I’ve been getting massages(at some very high end spas) and have very rarely experienced the variance and comfortability that I did with Josh at Cryospa. Very good energy. I recommend this place for anyone who leads an athletic lifestyle or even if you just like getting pampered. They have earned a new customer, and I can be a bit of a hard sell!
