Chicago Chimney

SCAM! I bought I Groupon for a $ 69 chimney cleaning. I called and made my appointment with this company. They NEVER showed up. After multiple calls asking them where they were and were they coming or cancelling, the man answering the phone said twice I will have the technician call you. No one called or showed. Unacceptable!

We ordered a Groupon for a chimney cleaning. They didn’t show up at all. I had to call them. I should have cancelled then, but I really needed my chimney cleaned so I rescheduled and asked, «are you really going to show up this time? «The guy said he would personally show up, but guess what no one showed up for a second time. Don’t waste your time.

Out of all the estimates that I had received for rebuilding my chimney, Chicago Chimney came in at the best price. The chimney had at least 12 courses replaced with a completely new crown, cap, chimney cover, storm collar and aluminum liner. Although steel liners seem to be the recommended option, my budget did not allow for it. With that being said, I believe that CC was able to give me a good price because they did not have giant scaffolding or huge bins taking up half the yard. I would recommend, though, that they at least have a plastic 30 gallon trash can to put any debris inside instead of dropping it from the roof and an extension cord.
The first day was spent taking down the aforementioned courses of bricks. The second day was spent replacing the bricks and putting on all the new materials. A third fellow was the one who did the actual masonry and was kind enough to take pictures once the job was concluded. Clean-​up was excellent considering the fact that some places do a poor job of it and some don’t do it at all. A one-​third deposit was required before the job was started and the rest was due upon completion. Thanks to their affordable pricing (less than $ 1500), I was able to pay cash. Now, there is no more water leaking (nay, pouring) into the basement every time it rains and the birds that were nesting in my old chimney have to find a new home.
