I usually come here with my girlfriends! Best Margaritas in town! Service is good, food is Ok. Love there mango margaritas, and also I like super nacho cheese. Great atmosphere!

Went there on a Monday with a buddy of mine, we sat down right away, the place was not busy, but they only had 1 server on the floor, so the wait time to order food and drinks was unreasonable. Fortunately, the busser promptly brought us chips and salsa which were excellent. The server wasn’t very friendly, she did not seem happy at all that we were even in the restaurant, despite our genuine manners and being very friendly to her. The place gets two stars because the food was very good, my only complaint was that my fajitas were prepared with about two whole green peppers, never have I ever tried to eat so many green peppers. I drank enough alcohol the night before, so I ordered a virgin bloody mary, its all about the vitamins ;) I was caught off guard when the price w/o alcohol was still $ 9, but being that I expected that, I wasn’t too upset. Form of payment was $ 30 cash and the rest on the card, she would barely listen when I asked that out of the 40 she returned 10 and we would leave tip on the card. She was like«yup, yeah, I got it» I couldn’t eat all the green peppers or rice so I asked for a box, she gave me two small ones and no bag, apparently I was supposed to double fist these things the whole way home.

Margaritas are ok and the food is nothing special but service was horrible. Also, they charge additional fees for using more than 2 cards. There are too many great Mexican restaurants in Chicago to waste time and money on such awful customer service. My friends and I will not return.

Decent Mexican food. Brought my friend here who wasn’t a fan of Mexican food. We got the flautas and she loved them. Wasn’t expecting soup to be served with the meal. I was expecting to get maybe a handful of flautas but they loaded up the plate. We shared a guava margarita and it was impressive. Will go back again.

Food and margaritas?-sub par. Service?-terrible. Will never return. The manager Raita was absolutely ridiculous. She was not polite and should not be working in the industry. She would not even give me her last name. After working for 5 years at a restaurant, I am wondering how she has made it there at all. We wrote out the cost for 4 cards. Our bill was $ 140 with over $ 30 on each card. They tried to charge $ 2.50 after 2 cards. After calling the credit card companies they confirmed that it is not their policy but the restaurants. They are trying to pocket that cost for themselves.

While I was impressed with the taste of the burrito and the margarita I had, I consider this place very misleading and highly overpriced. Cesar’s looks for every opportunity to charge you money, whether it be $ 3 for more appetizer chips or $ 2 extra for steak. They refuse to accept more than 2 credit cards per table, and their food is very overpriced. Their burrito claims to be served with beans and rice, yet it is all inside the burrito, which is already expected! Their cheapest margaritas at night are $ 12, which is incredibly steep as well. All in all, expect to spend about $ 30 for a meal and a drink here, but don’t expect to leave satisfied. The taste does not outweigh the price and the feeling of being cheated.

This is a cool place to go if you just wanna go to a chill spot and have some good nachos. The rest of the food was just ok. The turn off for me was the sign out front says happy hour is from 4−7pm but the bartender has a different set of rules he stops happy hour at 6:30. Either way is fine but just be clear.

Just went there for a date night and while I like the place I would only go for the mega margaritas because the food there is the worst Mexican I have ever tasted! Food is bland and not a lot of selection. I recommend only going there after you have had dinner somewhere else! Try the coconut Margarita it’s delicious!

Since the very first moment I saw the neon sign, I knew this place was a hangover in the making. I finally got a chance to test my theory on a random Friday night. My friend and I decided to taste out these killer margaritas. Unfortunately we were met with a bunch of unfriendliness and confusion from the staff that night. We were bounced back and forth between the front and back of the house. The staff didn’t communicate too well so we had to just talk to the upset party of three next to us. The unhappy party of three couldn’t get three sits at the bar together so they offered them to us. The hostess still didn’t know what to do so we abandoned her and took the seats the party of three offered us. Unfortunately my theory was correct at the hangover in the making. The prices that they charge for the low quality margaritas they serve is ridiculous. I’ve tasted room temperature liquor that came out of a plastic bottle that tasted better than that margarita. We decided to get the pitcher to save money but we could barely stomach the first glass we poured. We watched the couple next to us chug their drinks in an effort to not waste any money that was spent. The one positive thing about Cesar’s is that it’s a very spacious place. The front room of Cesar’s gives you a family Mexican restaurant vibe but the back room gives you a Spring break in Mexico vibe. I had an opportunity to taste the food on another visit and it wasn’t too bad in comparison to the price. I would only recommend Cesar’s when you have already been drinking and want to continue your buzz or if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat.

Drinks were way too sweet and did not seem to made traditionally. 18 percent gratuity was added to our large group with no effort to split checks or assist with the payment options. Waiting around doing the job of the service staff and restaurant for payment ruined the beginning to our holloween evening.

Had a poor experience with a group of five today and none of us will be back. Food was OK and staff nice, but had terrible service. It was close to 8pm on. Monday and place was not busy. Say us promptly and took drink order, which when served was completely wrong. Asked for 4 glasses with salt and one without. Got the opposite. No big deal, but then server never returned to take order and we eventually had to ask to order food. Food was ok but took a long time to come out with a fairly empty restaurant. We asked to split bills 5 ways, pretty normal for any restaurant, and were told could only do 3 cards and would Charge us a fee. Asked for manager who said they had rules and refused. Everyone was nice, but unbelievably bad service for just average food means we won’t be back. We told manager as such and were very pleasant to get bill split and still denied. Explains why so few in the restaurant.

The margarita was good, but I was incredibly disappointed by the service and food. I ordered nachos and they were flavorless. I would have left this alone, except the service was incredibly poor. Our server was MIA the entire time. I believe this was because we had 5 people in our party, and she knew she’d receive 18% gratuity regardless. Additionally, I find it annoying that they don’t do separate checks without charging an extra fee. If the service and the food was phenomenal, I would probably excuse this issue. As it was not, I likely will not visit this restaurant in the future. This is a place to get drinks and drinks only, however, make sure you come with exact change, or be prepared to pay an extra fee. Also, someone just had a bowel movement in the bathroom. As I was seated near the bathroom, my group had to smell her movement when she exited the bathroom. The bathroom should not be near where people eat.

I kind of consider Cesar’s a guilty pleasure — a place that I love to go to enjoy a delicious, inexpensive meal before walking over to The Alley to shop(just a block away). I love their Raspberry margarita on the rocks, and their steak burrito is very tasty too. I usually enjoy hard shell tacos but their ground beef is very subtle in seasoning, almost tasteless, so I’ve had to salt and add salsa and other additions to every taco — something I wish the kitchen would fix in terms of «taste.» Service is always fast, friendly, and while it can be very loud and gets packed in the evenings(especially on the weekends), this is the perfect place to come for lunch to have a margarita. I noticed that the prices of the Margaritas were recently raised substantially — In my opinion, they are definitely tasty, but the $$$ jump was a little harsh. If you do get a margarita, the Mega is definitely the way to go.

I was pleasantly surprised with my dining experience here, which was solidly good: I expected much worse after reading all the negative reviews. The margaritas did not disappoint: they are strong and fabulous. My friends and I split three entrees so we got to sample a lot of different things. The mini burritos were by far the best, followed by the enchiladas suizas. The flautas were just okay. You get free chips and salsa throughout the meal, which are also just okay, but they are free, so I can’t really complain. We also got three free shots of straight tequila at the end of our meal, which was a very awesome bonus. As others have said, though, the service is mediocre at best. That was the most disappointing part of the experience. If the restaurant makes a few adjustments, it could be even better than it is now.

So my wife and I are in town for a few days on vacation and we were walking to wrigley field and my wife wanted to try it cause of their killer margaritas so figured we would try later after the ballgame. So we went and the place was crowded so we had to wait a few minutes which is understandable. After getting seated they did get us chips and drinks pretty quick. But after that the service was slow very slow. we ordered the food which I would say was just ok. I had enchiladas and my wife had flautas. the food was nothing special but took way too long to get served. After finishing dinner it also took forever to get the waitress to come by with the check. But once we put the money in the check the waitress was all over that, kinda hovering

Used to love this place mainly for the killer margaritas. The food is just okay. But the $ 12 «Mega» margaritas were the draw. They recently raised the prices by $ 4 though. :(. $ 12 margaritas are a good deal. $ 16 margaritas not so much. Oh well, it will give me an excuse to try other restaurants now.

The margaritas are killer and are for sure strong! They take you there. The unlimited chips and salsa are a definite plus. I have to say I was not really feeling the atmosphere. It might just not be my scene but it was kinda boring the aura was lame. We had to keep flagging down our waiter to order more drinks instead of her just coming to check on us. That made the night drag as well. Nothing in particular was horrible I just wasn’t impressed…

Their margaritas knock my over. They really are the best in the city, I don’t care who tells you otherwise. They serve several different sizes, large, mega,(probably as big as your head), and then a pitcher. As far as their food goes, I’ve only actually eaten here once and it was about a year ago. I can’t remember it being outstanding but I don’t remember anything being really wrong with it. Just typical Mexican food. I don’t think people actually go here for the food though. They go for the drinks. The last time I was here the bartender did actually give us a few bowls of tomato soup to go with our drinks. I thought that was nice, he didn’t have to. But it’s small things like that that make this place an inviting place to come.

Three stars is a fair assessment for this Cesar’s. I didn’t order food, just drinks. Our server was friendly enough, and our margaritas got to us quickly. As for the infamous drink itself… kind of tasted like liquid diabetes to me(at least the strawberry one does). If you like super sweet drinks, have at it. I tried my best to finish it, I could not. Kind of loud, kind of crowded, but this area on a Saturday evening, about what I expected.

Great margaritas and OK food. I can always come here for a margarita, and then just eat the chips and salsa. I do that quite frequently actually. The food is just OK. I recommend coming in for a margarita and chips y salsa, and then trying the quesadillas. It’s really difficult to screw up a tortilla filled with cheese, so it’s always a safe move here.

I came to Cesars in search of the famous margaritas that I’d heard so much about. I sat at the bar and the waiter was very hospitable. I initially ordered a regular margarita, no complaints. Next, I grabbed a pitcher for a friend and I. We tried the strawberry Margarita. Not bad, but no fireworks either. It was a little on the expensive side as well — it cost $ 34 bucks. Not worth it in my opinion. I did walk out with a buzz which went well to accompany the mini scuffle that broke out when some chick tried to get rough with security. Yeahhhhh… not smart. I couldn’t get my camera to work fast enough to record! Ugh! I didn’t get a chance to try to food so when I do decide to return and I indulge in the eats, I’ll update my review. #EatSleepLive #WhoNeedsLoveWhenYouHaveFood

I’ve been here twice and am not a fan. Mexican food is my favorite kind of food so I need a place to get it right. A good margarita isn’t enough. The first time I got the fajitas. Those are my go to Mexican dish. These were just bad. Not seasoned. At all. I make better ones at home. The next time there I had the super burrito. I picked out the steak because I will never let meat to go waste but oh my was it bad. The whole burrito wasn’t just unflavored, it was bad. I should have sticked with the unseasoned fajitas. They do get 1 star for the margarita. Although it was way too surgery and overpriced, I could be talked into trying them again. There are so many better options in the city with real Mexican food, good margaritas, and reasonable prices. Don’t waste your time.

I came here last week with a friend of mine who said they have killer Margaritas. The Margarita was about the only thing they got right. [Thus, the reason for two stars on this review, instead of one] We ordered our drinks and then our food. I got an enchilada dinner and he got a wrap of some sort. The problem was… it was FOREVER until we got it. After sitting for over an HOUR after ordering our food, we began to wonder what was up. We noticed that two tables that arrived after us received their food before us! We decided to mention it to our server(who was rude from the get-go) and see what was going on. He mumbled something and left – coming back with the food in less than 5 minutes. I think it’s really strange how the food came as soon as we asked, which of course means it was probably sitting there, done, for a long time. Our server dropped the ball. I would have been much more forgiving if he was actually giving us quality service, but he hardly even checked on us and was not even personable. I understand – it’s a weekend and you’re busy, but service should never be sacrificed. Another man(not sure if he’s the owner or manager) came to our table with free shots on the house, which we couldn’t even drink because we were driving home afterwards. It was a nice gesture, but not enough to make up for the horrible service. My friend was furious and I felt like the night just didn’t go well as a result of this. Of course I tipped because we still got service(albeit, sucky service), but my friend left a nice little comment on the receipt. From the looks of this place on the outside, it’s a pretty fun, upbeat hangout. I do have to say that the location was very large inside and had colorful lights everywhere, from what I can remember. Too bad I was not impressed by the food or service. I won’t be coming back, unless it’s just for a Margarita.

Horrible. Overpriced for watered-down drinks. Also, food too expensive for very little. Service sucks. Save your money folks and go to El Mercadito, same price but waaaaay better value!
