Cermak Produce

Experience was disappointing. Produce were not fresh. There were flies roaming around. Lettuce was soft. I waited 10 minutes and still had 9 numbers ahead of mine just to order some meat. I decided to leave. If the produce wasn’t fresh I couldn’t trust the meat. Truly disappointing considering that the kedzie location is always spot on! Everything is fresh there!

I’m totally a fan of Cermak Produce. This is a small location catering to the neighborhood residents in Belmont Cragin. There were some shady characters outside loitering, so be aware.
This was one of my typical grocery shopping trips. I purchased one (1) bag of cello spinach ($ 1.99), one (1) bag of red seedless grapes ($ 0.95/lb. for $ 1.30), red delicious apples ($ 0.65/lb. for $ 2.13), plum tomatoes ($ 0.65/lb. for $ 1.32), one (1) cantaloupe ($ 0.95), two (2) bags of carrots (2 for $ 0.95), and four (4) regular-​sized avocados (2 for $ 0.95; $ 1.90).
Everything came to $ 10.78 after tax. No one can say that buying groceries is expensive, if you know where to shop.
This location is on the corner of Cicero and Diversey. The CTA bus 54A (Cicero/​Skokie Blvd.) runs during AM and PM rush hours only, so the more reliable public transportation is to take the CTA bus 76 (Diversey). If you choose not to exercise during the gorgeous spring season in Chicago, driving your own vehicle is an option as well since parking is ample.

I have been here for the 1.00/lb ground pork and bone-​in Chicken breasts. Meat was fresh and although the place is small, staff was friendly and quick.

Definitely, products are always fresh and great quality no doubt! Ok. So I live in the North side area near by Evanston, but my fiancé and I usually go all the way to this store for the same reason mentioned above:) Love the fresh fruits, vegetables and meats.
I love everything in this store except for the cashiers:(They are not friendly at all. They never greet you and it seems like they don’t even want for you to be there. Like if they get bother because you are there. I used to be a manager for 4 years and this is not how I would treat my guests:) Something that I would recommend to this store to be 100% perfect please change personnel or train them on how to greet their guests;)

Every week I try to make one trip to Cermak Produce, because the quality and prices are unbeatable. I don’t care that I’m the only Caucasian in the store. The biggest navel oranges I’ve ever seen at .99/​lb, several varieties of apples at the same price, bananas at .29-.49/lb, strawberries at 2.49 for a carton, pineapples at 2.99 each. The produce is always fresh, stocked, organized, and priced amazingly. There’s always such a long line at the meat counter that I haven’t gotten anything, but judging by the line it’s good. They also have a good selection of mexican food for cooking, cheese, rice, tortillas and the like — but don’t go there expecting to find the selection of a regular grocery store in anything else. Sometimes they have awesome sales on stuff like Tropicana or milk, but I usually just get the produce. Checkout is quick and easy, the girls at the counter don’t understand complicated questions unless you speak Spanish, but can help you out with anything else. Don’t forget to stock up on the cases of mangos that are occasionally on sale outside the front door!
