Just went in there today and I totally loved it :) The staff is super nice and friendly, the food was delicious and so was my ice cappuccino. Not to mention the decoration was totally awesome and unique. I will absolutely be going back soon :)

Kelly A., you don’t even know the name of the business, Catedral Café closed last year and new owners re-open it with a new name«La Catedral Café and Restaurant». How can you make a comment of a business that is closed and I doubt that your comments are valid. Catedral Café was a great plate and«la Catedral Café and Restaurant» also have outstanding customer service and food.

I have been here on 2 different occasions. First time around I had their peanut butter and jelly sandwich and their mango smoothie. The smoothie although it was overflowing in the cup really lacked flavor. My second time there I had a croissant and their mocha latte w/Rompope. That was good but once again was over flowing and was spilling everywhere. My issue wasn’t with the croissant but with the cream cheese, it had a refrigerator taste to it. This place is a little pricey and the music in the background doesn’t really allow for much concentration. I agree the décor is interesting and the staff is friendly but I am not completely sold on this place.

The coolest café this side of Pilsen. Looks like an old tudor house from the outside. The inside is classic coffee shop décor. Really nice service. The wiFi was giving me a problem and the owner came out and helped me getting connected and restarted the router for me. Try getting that at Starbucks. Good coffee too, the staff takes pride in their food and drinks. I appreciate this and will continue to support this small yet big hearted business. I like sitting in the window and people watching too! Since it is in my ‘hood, you know I will be back…

This place has 2 great things: atmosphere, and coffee. This place has 3 bad things: it takes forever to get drinks or food, the staff goes MIA, and it’s kinda dead in there every time I go. I’ve been to this place at least a half-dozen times and each time I seem to find something new that annoys me. In my most recent trip, my boyfriend and I waited 40 minutes for pancakes(him) and some eggs(me) even though we were the only people in the restaurant. We were pressed for time and had not planned on waiting so long for our food. When I went to ask someone about it, the waitress/counter staff person was nowhere to be found and the cook took one look at me and got busy. The food is alright but I think it used to be better. The coffee however, is very tasty and they make a great latte. The décor is interesting and it is neat to be in a place that was once the set of a movie(Stranger Than Fiction). Catedral is worth a try if you have lots of time to waste, hate people and like to be ignored or if you’re a big Will Ferrell/Maggie Gyllenhaal fan.

You got me at the little coffee cookies and the folded napkins that arrived with my coffee. Ok… and a free shot of rompope on the house might have made me give that extra star. But WELL-deserved. THEBEST latte I have ever had. I usually love my coffee as is, sans syrup. Arriving here, I decided to try the rompope latte. Mind you, I had no clue what rompope is. But I may now have to go through Rompope latte detox. I think I am addicted. The barista makes the best darn foamy latte. When I do get a latte, I admit, I love them foamy. Despite being amongst all the Catholic symbols, I felt downright sinful sipping my latte here, especially when the barista gave me another shot of rompope on the house! The place is very homey, and at the same time, felt myself being transported to Mexico or the southwest. I love the décor here. I could almost see visions of cacti outside the windows when I was able to take my eyes off the saints. Was I still in Chicago? So if you want to take a vacation to our southern neighbors or the southwest without leaving chitown, want great coffee and head here. It’s well worth the trip.

Oh the Catedral… you and your fabulousness. Catedral is one of those places most hipsters and artsy folk live for. Luckily alot of them are unaware of it’s presence and therefore don’t destroy what is a cute/fun thing. The Catedral has a great selection of drinks and some yummy deserts. The staff are always super friendly. They have big comfy couches to sit in and last but not least the whole place is decked out in angelic/christian décor — please don’t let that last statement turn you away though– it’s actually charming. I definitely recommend going– but I warn that if you do go please respect the neighborhood and the other patrons. It is in the heart of Little Village which needs no more gentrifying… so give the Cetedral a try! Just show some respect!

THISPLACEISFRIGGIN’ AWESOME! good food, nice staff, great atmosphere and aesthetic. The food is really surprisingly creative and well made. If you are ever down south in Chicago, I COMPLETELY recommend this place. — parking is easy on side streets — take a car no public transportation

I love the chicken mango panini. I’ve caught myself there twice within the last week for this thing. They also have a great cappuccino with rompope. Mmmmmm. Just the right amount of coffee and liquor. =) It’s not a very busy place so it’s easy to sit and read while waiting for your order. Did you know that this place was featured in the movie«Stranger Than Fiction» with Maggie Gyllenhal and Will Farrell? It was the bakery in the movie. They have changed the décor to some type of religious theme. It was a little scary at first but I’ve gotten used to it. I know I will be back soon.

cute place… but the food is far too pricey for what it is… I got the atlantic salmon salad, and a turkey sandwich. The salad was some mayo nightmare and the sandwich had too little meat/cheese everything for the $ 7.00+ it cost me. but the atmosphere and coffee were good… maybe I’ll try the crepes next time?

A delicious surprise tucked away in Little Village. At first glance, the menu is overwhelming. How can a relatively small café offer such diverse options? Jury’s out. But I can say with confidence… what I did have was excellent. –Yummy pineapple-strawberry smoothie –Out of this world Mango Chicken Panini with basil –Solid pasta salad –Expertly made cappuccino with perfect froth and delicious sugar cookie to match Sit back, enjoy the free wi-fi and icon laden walls and sip the best cappuccino on the West Side. Oh yeah — did I mention they are BYOB?

Café Catedral is an oasis on 25th and Christiana. Great coffee, fabulous pastries and the food is quality and healthy. Love the chicken and shrimp salad. It’s always fun to sit in the singles corner and thumb through the religious books on the windowsill. I even found a book on love spells… oooooo… spooky. Plus, you can always BYOB.

Beautiful café with really kind, gracious service… but I agree… if you are in a hurry… this place is NOT for you. It’s not a Starbucks where highly trained baristas are there to whip up your tall, half-caf, skinny cappucino in 8 seconds flat, it’s a lovely little neighborhood place. The people who work here are probably family and/or friends, though I don’t know that for a fact. If you have the time and want a nice light meal or pastry and a good cup of coffee, this place is perfect. Downsides: I always need to look at a map before coming here. I get lost and it’s near an area where all roads seem to lead to dead ends if you don’t know what you’re doing. Plus sometimes the music is annoying. My last visit, they played one single song, which looped endlessly on a tape player. It wasn’t loud but it started to work my nerves.

The inside décor, while it is busy and no wall space is left free, is simply a wonder to stare at while eating your lunch or sipping your coffee drink. The food is pretty good but the coffee drinks are what make this place. When you sit inside the café, you’re taken somewhere else and are no longer just in Little Village. Instead, you’re in some sort of über religious-icon world that’s decorated more like a museum than anything. Going here just to look at everything on the walls is an experience in itself.

this is a beautifully decorated café featuring more icons than most catholic cathedrals. they serve a great cappucino. the food is good consistent café food with a few exceptions: the croissants are fresh and perfect and the crepes are supremely yummy. all in all, a lovely lovely retreat for an afternoon break or for an art event in the evening(they host several events a month).
