When we were searching for the right person to deliver our little bundle of joy and we went through a few doctors. I did not realize how hard this process was going to be.
Many of the doctors just seemed cold or disconnected. One nurse at a doctors office we visited told my wife congrats on getting pregnant and the best part would be getting to eat junk food like McDonald’s all the time. That kind of irresponsible attitude steered us away from those doctors. We wanted a healthy baby and not one being fed McIcky crap in the womb.
We then met Dr. Japzon who was amazing. She was old school and laid back. She knew her stuff but was more supportive and less neurotic. She just made us feel at ease and we could ask her any question. She also had a great sense of humor or I should say she put up with all of my jokes. Every doctor visit was a fun and pleasant experience.
The best part is that her office was across from the hospital and she lived in the area. So she could walk from her house to the office or the delivery room. That was a big plus for us. We were not going to have some intern deliver our baby because the doctor was stuck somewhere on a golf course in the North Shore.
On that faithful day of the birth, Dr Japzon happened to be working at the hospital all day. We checked in at 5pm and she even stayed the night in an empty room of the hospital instead of going home. That was so nice of her and made us realize we had the right doctor. So when our bundle of joy decided to come at 2am in the morning Dr. Japzon was ready to go. She jumped in and 22 minutes later our life was going to change forever.
I will say one thing… there is no reason to take birthing classes because none of it means anything. At least for our birth. No one told me I was going to have a leg on my shoulder and a front row seat to all of the action. Dr. Japzon kept telling me to take a look at the action… really? That was totally not in the birthing videos. I think Dr. Japzon was getting even with me for all my jokes over the months. But it was all good and a great experience.
Dr Japzon is an amazing doctor and a joy to work with. She was very relaxing and made our experience a great one. Every Doctor should be like her!
