I loved the daniel sandwich and the piña colada. Stopping here feels like coming home. Make the trip if you can.

Warm friendly place to grab a sandwich and eat at the bar as well as ample table and work space upstairs. The go green smoothie with spinach, strawberry, mangoes was just what I needed.

We had the piña colada, Nutella milkshake, & Oreo milkshake– they were DELICIOUS! The owner is very friendly and even lowered the music because he saw we were doing homework. It is also very clean and comfortable, love the second floor! We will definitely keep going back!

Great place to get work done, read, study, hangout, etc. All while having the availability of food and drinks delivered to you in a relaxing environment. This café surrounds you with Christian literature and artwork but is not overwhelming. Not too many Cafes in the southwest area like this. Overall, everything you need is here. Come and experience El Mezon Café!

Great little treasure in Brighton Park area. Love everything in this place(food, beverages, atmosphere, layout) but the Christian merchandise is a bit random. No one pushes religion here though. Appreciate that they’re open late and always friendly.

By far one of my favorite cafes, the atmosphere is always great and the drinks are always spectacular. Everytime I go I am greeted by a warm smile the staff is amazing at making you feel right at home. I recommend their signature Piña Colada you won’t regret it!

I’m so glad I finally get to try this place out. I had a good conversation with the owner and he sounds like a genuine guy. This is a Christian missionary café which I love about it. They play Christian songs and they even sell religious books. I love how they have 2 floors and 2nd floor is very comfy. I’d definitely come back here again.

The owner is very friendly and a definite people person. I was planning on ordering my sandwich, going to sit by myself at one tables & shove my face into into my phone while I ate, but he invited me to sit at the counter and chat with him and another patron. That was a nice gesture by him. The Tuna sandwich, while good, was a bit heavy on the mayo. I was expecting it to be a healthier version of a Tuna sandwich, although the mayo was oozing out the sides. I’m not sure if this is normal or a one time thing? The gentleman sitting next to me ordered a different sandwich and it looked very good. I am absolutely going to visit Café El Meson again in the near future to try the Chicken Sandwich… with light mayo. :)

This is in my top three favorite coffee shops in Chicago. A family owned, Christian café with great handcrafted food and espresso drinks! The upstairs is so peaceful and great for conversation with a friend or alone time to read. We are regulars here and will continue to be! Oh and my favorite drink EVER is their cocolatte– made with coconut milk, espresso, cinnamon, and honey!

Small latte for 2.97 total. Lovely girl at register. Other reviews mentioned good food. I didn’t have anything. This is a great spot in an area there isn’t much. Will return!

Beautiful ambience and the owner is friendly without being over bearing. I have been able to get my work done here while enjoying an Americano, which was excellent by the way. I recommend this place highly!

I absolutely love the sandwiches here. I had the criollo sandwich and it was great. Nice and toasty. They are way better than any subway, Jimmy Johns or any deli for that matter. The bread is fresh and so are the ingredients. I was told that this is a non for profit. The people that work here are volunteers and the profits go to a Catholic charity. I’m not Catholic I just like good food. They also have a book store with religious books and DVDs and CDs. They have a nice upstairs eating area. They have coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, etc. all the sandwiches are pretty good and made to order. They also offer some sweets for desserts.

I bookmarked this place some time ago, but I wasn’t able to precisely pin-point where that was with my knowledge of Chicago streets. My friend and I were thrift-shopping, and I suggested that we stopped in to get coffee. The guy, who appeared to be the owner of this café, had a nice conversation with us. The coffee items were very reasonably-priced. For a 12 oz. latte or mocha, it costs under $ 3. We both tried the amorelatta(I believe I’ve mis-spelt this word… I apologize if I have). Since we were the first-timers, there was a Unilocal check-in offer: 10% off, available and I was able to use it. The guy upgraded our drinks to a 16 oz. with no additional cost and invited us to come back. I don’t necessarily travel much on the south side of Chicago, but this place is cozy, clean, and godly! There are many Christian books, albums, and spiritual merchandize for sale inside of the shop as well. There are two(2) floors, with a piano on the first floor. The building looks like a house that was converted for commercial purposes. By the way, I could tell that the owner took his time and salted the pave way leading to the café:) They also have smoothies, sandwiches, and other food and drink items. I need to come back and try the piña colada. It’s one of my top favorite crafted drinks, yet I just didn’t feel to have a cold beverage tonight. I wish such place exists in my hood in Albany Park on the north side, within close proximity to my apartment.

So even though I religiously check Unilocal reviews before trying out a new place, it’s been YEARS since I bothered to write a review(yes, I am the taker in my relationship with Unilocal) However, after visiting this little coffee house gem on friday night– I felt compelled to get on here and urge everyone to visit and support this place. They offer great coffee(i had the Coco Latte– and it was delicious) and sandwiches(I went for the chicken sandwich with jalapeños– also delicious) If coffee is not your thing, they also offer all kinds of smoothies and drinks. The best part about this place is how cozy and relaxed the atmosphere is– you feel like you can relax all day there. My sister and I had not had a chance to eat together and chit chat by ourselves in a long time(we always have two crazy toddlers following us around) so we decided to try a coffee house instead of a restaurant for our sister date– and it was awesome! The owner was welcoming, answered all our questions and seemed very approachable– and once we got our coffee and food he left us alone to enjoy our evening. We spent 3 hours here talking and sipping our coffee — and we never felt rushed like you sometimes do at restaurants. Please support this place and help keep its doors open– we need places like this one in our neighborhood– I’m tired of having to head north every time we want to relax at a coffeehouse.

I was in the neighborhood looking for an estate sale for an antique shop. I realized the I typed the address in Google maps incorrectly, and was an hour out of the way. Feeling frustrated and defeated but hungry and interested at the same time I stumbled upon this Gem. I purchased a candle to relax, a gourgeous necklace for my grandma and not to mention the most delicious mango and spinach smoothie I have ever had. The owner is kind and caring. He is extremely passionate and his work and his customers, I would have stayed here all day if time permitted. Eat here, Shop here, Feel lifted here!

AMAZING!!! Was leaving the dentist on my search for wifi in a neighborhood I know little about. They recommended this place and I’m so glad! It’s an indoor zen garden in here. I feel like I may smell incense at any moment but really the aroma is neutral. The owner, Mike, is such a nice guy! He was engaging, friendly, and overall made me feel really happy to be there. Can see this place being perfect for a date, business meeting, solo internet exploration… I’m glad I didn’t end up goggling Starbucks and going miles out of the way like I almost did. Apparently they have a frappé de aguacate?!!(avocado drink). I’m coming back, for sure. People that live around here: Support this gem!!! You want to keep this place alive and thriving in your neighborhood!
