Delicious burgers! The kimchi fries are really a standout, too. Definitely a once a month stop.

We ordered the Chicken Katsu, Kimchi fries, egg rolls, and bibimbop with bulgogi. The rice in the bibimbop was not fully cooked. As a Korean, this is a BIG no no. I felt like I was chewing hard uncooked rice Also, the food in general was all very salty. We ordered the philly cheese egg rolls, but there was no cheese… strange. Overall, it was just not very good as I expected bopNGrill to be amazing.

Love going there. Burger: good! umami yummm. Rice menu: We also like their fire chicken. Food in general: If you are looking for traditional Korean style food this is not the place. this is more like a hipster Korean food. Their egg roll: is a bit to salty for me but seems like people love it since they are limited one person per one order lol. Parking: off the street Price: A bit pricey but it’s worth the money Service: It is fast and simple. order– get a buzzer and wait till it’s buzzed

I sang its praises far and wide, but as much as I hate to accept it, the Umami Burger at bNG is no longer my favorite burger in the city. I’m not sure why the restaurant decided to change up a winning recipe. Gone is the slightly charred brioche bun that set this burger apart. The new bun is a doughier version that hides the flavors of the meat and other ingredients. The patty is not as juicy and the mushroom duxelle is almost negligible in this new offering. This burger used to be bursting with flavor, and now it’s at risk of being just another burger in a city not lacking in burger options. The kimchi fries are still excellent so our last visit wasn’t a total disappointment, but until the Umami Burger is brought back to its original glory, it will be hard to justify a trip out to bNg to satisfy a burger craving.

bopNGrill delivers a satisfying, simple and affordable Korean experience! We were looking for classic Korean food and were encouraged to try bopNGrill. Though not a traditional Korean food experience, the menu flavors speak for themselves and deliver a unique experience. We arrived for dinner on a Sunday and sadly all the daily egg rolls were sold out(clearly they are worth the hype and we look forward to returning to indulge)! We ordered from the straightforward menu and within 10 minutes received our food. I ordered the bulkogi bop plate(+ fried egg) and was overwhelmed by it’s presentation and taste. The salad was fresh, well portioned and well dressed. The kimchi was a great representation with solid flavors and tang and thankfully not too spicy. Spice level is important to me in that it doesn’t overwhelm the dish but compliment it and this kimchi wins! The bulkogi was deeply flavorful with a great mix of sweet and salty, garlic and ginger with portions that were more than sufficient. It was well cooked and juicy with flavor. A chop stick of bulkolgi, rice, egg and some kimchi was divine! We also ordered cheese fries which were a surprising, fair-themed addition but next time I will opt for kimchi fries. Their menu is exciting and I look forward to returning to sample their katsu, the loco moco bop and their burgers. Their atmosphere is fast casual and they are reasonably priced for Korean food, delivering the same quality and authentic flavors that real Korean BBQ provides. Check it out!

The kimchi fries are a must-try! So delicious :) I usually get the loco burger, which is pretty decent(altho it’s very messy to eat). Mexicoke is a nice touch to the meal. It’s right off the Loyola red line stop.

So I didn’t know this place was visited by Guy Fieri on Food Network haha but I’ve been meaning to try this place. There’s free parking on the street and it’s next to Chipotle(I almost couldn’t find it!) I ordered the Umami burger which had gouda, bacon, togarashi mayo, sundried tomato confit and my dad ordered the BnG burger which had the fried egg, jalapenos, American cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce. We also ordered the kimchi fries which had kimchi, cheese sauce, bacon, and scallions. I honestly thought the burgers were good except it was on the greasy side, which killed the experience for me. Despite the grease, I have to say the Umami burger was WAY better than the restaurant of the same name, so if you want to try an Umami burger, eat it here. The fries were ehh, it was more of nacho cheese sauce slathered all over the fries which made it a basic eating experience for me. I’ve had better kimchi fries elsewhere. The total bill for the 2 burgers, fries, and 2 fountain drinks was $ 30 which was okay but I didn’t think it was all that much worth it. If they only fix the greasiness of the burger then they would receive a higher rating from me!

It is obvious to me that the owner doesn’t care anymore. He’s gotten lazy. Maybe they could try new things with the menu to keep things interesting, but right now this place is going thru the motions and putting out really uninspiring food. I knew something wasn’t right when they removed the CHEESE from the philly CHEESEsteak eggrolls. Mindblowing. The side salad they give you used to be a decent slaw but now it’s a sad lump of overdressed lettuce. The bbq chicken used to be sticky and tender and wonderful, now it’s just a pale old looking salty slab of sadness on a bed of whatever white rice. No type of sesame seed or green onion garnish anymore, just no love. Lazy. I blame management, not staff.

Yeah, whatever so it’s awesome and amazing! lol. The egg rolls are crazy good. I had my doubts and squinted at the woman taking my order, but dang were they good. I had the Loco burger, and I love the Kim chi fries. The staff is really cool and helpful and to be honest they don’t have to because I am sure they answer questions all day long about the menu, but totally loved the woman got my order spot on for me. I have to say, I love truffles but I loved the Loco better than the truffle burger. I was surprised and felt like a trader.

We went there on a cold friday night. Ordered the kimchi fries and the fire chicken. I am a sucker for kimchi fries and these were absolutely delicious. The fire chicken plate though was the star. They were not joking when they said it’s spicy, the kimchi they served with it seemed pretty bland in comparison. Was really happy we gave this place a try. Will definitely be going back. The only con in my opinion is that they do not substitute the beef patties in their burgers and as I don’t eat beef I was sad I wouldn’t get to try what every one has been talking about on Unilocal . The service is pretty quick and the place is non pretentious, filled with a good mix college students and families. PS: I thought of the pics only after I had finished attacking my food! They looked awesome ;)

This is one of my favorite places to go! The burgers are so juicy and filling. The kimchi fries are also really good, and the portions are pretty big. I’m usually full after the burger so I get the fries to share with a group. It’s too much for one person, in my opinion. For the plates, the chicken katsu is really good. Though it’s just chicken and rice and some cabbage, so not super exciting. Definitely recommend the burgers over the plates. And especially the burgers that include the fried egg ie bNg and loco. My friend got the umami once and it seemed smaller and not as exciting in terms of what’s in it.

Not bad, but looking at the number of people flocking here, I just can’t help but think, damn. I should buy some wholesale bulgogi and just sell it to some college students for a killing. Anyhow, I was volunteering for something at Loyola across the way and really, it came down to being between this place and Chipotle… I figured, hell — why not? I got a Bulgoi Bop plate and to be honest was completely underwhelmed. Yes it came with rice, salad and kimchi, but the kimchi was mediocre, the salad was simple, and the bulgogi was skimpy(looked like it covered more of the rice than it actually did.). My dining partner got an umami burger and all I could think was«pleeease just offer me another bite!» It was damn good. The kimchi fries were also mediocre. I’d pass on this if I were to come back.

SERVERSDONOTKEEPTIPS! I know this because I personally know a server or two at each location, and they often lament about the tips they see pile up in the jar that they don’t get to touch. Tips left in the jar and put on credit/debit cards go to the owner. This is very shady and illegal! The staff works very hard in the small kitchen/restaurant and that is clear to see no matter which location you eat at. The eggrolls are a weekend special only. Come early for them because they sell out fast. They are a little sweet for my taste but are still very interesting to try. Sometimes one location runs out more than the other but it depends on the weekend it seems. This is a burger joint and that does NOT automatically make it fast food. If you pay attention you see raw meat and eggs hit the grill and get cooked to your specified desires. So do not get uppity about a wait, you get what you pay for. If you want cheap and fast go to Burger King. The Loco Burger is my favorite but sometimes it can be drowned in gravy so I ask for light sauce and it is always just how I like it. Also, how they prepare their kimchi is the bees’ knees.

We get it… You were featured on Diners n Drive Ins n Dives. No need to over advertise this, let the food speak for itself. Overall it’s good, but just too greasy for me though to really be a fan of this place. Umami burger ~ truffled mushroom duxelle, sun dried tomato confit, togasashi mayo, bacon and smoked gouda cheese. First initial bites… WOW! Truffle roundhouse kick in the mouth. Really good, but as I continued to eat it felt like it was getting greasier and greasier the more I bit into it. Also, the burger was a bit too undercooked in the center for me. Kimchi fries ~ fries with kimchi, cheese, bacon, scallions, & sesame. Initially good, they failed to mention fries are cooked in truffle oil but once you get toward the bottom really unappetizing to eat. Way too greasy and soggy. My guess is from the bacon and the kimchi rendered in bacon fat. Bulgogi Bop Plate ~ bulgogi(Korean marinaded beef) served with rice, salad, and kimchi. Probably the healthiest of everything we ordered, but just okay. Nothing really to rave about. ‘Til next time, cheers!

I came across this place from Food Network Channel last week so we checked it out Saturday afternoon. When we showed up there & there wasn’t many people waiting or eating, but shortly after people started coming in. Our wait to get food was reasonable time. FOOD — My boyfriend & i ordered the kimchi fries and the cheese fries to share. I ordered the loco burger and he ordered the bNg burger. Taste wise we both agreed it tasted AMAZING! I saw some reviews on size per amount & people expected bigger. I’m a big/good eater and in my opinion i thought it was proper serving size. The burger was a normal size. When i read reviews i expected smaller from what people were saying. I left content and taste was on another level. My hands got messy but overall delicious! DECOR/ATMOSPHERE — It is a very basic location. I noticed it wasn’t the cleanest but if anyone has read any of my reviews… i’m not a huge picky person. If i like food to me hands down that’s what I’m going to do is eat so that’s the most important part. $$$ — As i mentioned, i saw people complain price for size. Comparing burgers to fast food it is a couple dollars more expensive but nothing crazy. I look at it as they offer something unique and tastes amazing, why wouldn’t prices be a tad higher. STAFF/SERVICE — You order and pay at the same time like any fast food typical restaurant. There is no one serving food or walking around cleaning. You are given a pager to wait for your food & pick up. The person who took our order was polite. They had a couple girls taking orders & another couple cooking. I defiantly recommend this place if your craving burgers with a twist. I was hoping i could have ordered the egg rolls but those sell out quick from what the show said. As we walked in they had a sign that read sold out for the day. Will return & hoping in time for the egg rolls.

Tad skimpy portion for price. Downtown prices that is additionally $ 1 – 2 more than usual. Neighborhood place, no trek necessary. FIREPORKBELLY($ 11) — the jalapeño and grilled onion is missing. Medium Heat is dominant, difficult to appreciate flavor. The coleslaw balances heat. BACONANDCHEESEFRIES — good seasoning on fries, crunch and portion. Skimpy on cheese topping. PHILLYEGGROLL($ 4.50) — overpriced. It’s actually one eggroll split in half. No cheese drizzle anymore. All meat and white cheese filling. Too salty. Great when paired with plain fries(a meal in itself). A better version at Sullivan’s Steakhouse(River North). SERVICE — counter service. No tips necessary, Yay!

I had a nice time eating at bopNGrill. I got a kimchi burger and a loco moco plate. The burger was well-made and tasted very savory. The kimchi doesn’t overpower the dish. My only complaint is that the egg dripped a lot when I was eating the burger. The loco moco plate is what I’m going to keep ordering in the future. It’s essentially a rice plate with two burger patties, an egg, topped with gravy. I was surprised that something so simple tasted that great! Definitely recommend trying the loco moco at bopNGrill.

The onky downside of the food is the size of the burger. Oh, I wish It was a larger portion so I can go home and regret what I have put myself through. My boyfriend and I comes here on occasion when we are in the mood for kimchi fries. I got the Kimchi burger and he got the Loco(I believe that is what it is called) burger with a side of Kimchi fries. Again, wished the portion was larger so I can hate myself after but… haha. With the amount of flavor from that small burger, it is well worth it. Its super greasy and the yolk will run througg your fingers. The fries were great as well. They were season and super crispy.(Top with yummy Kimchi too, can’t forget that).

This place has become one of my new favorites for a delicious, but also quick and inexpensive meal. Everything I’ve had here is really good. My favorite is probably the bibimbap — bulgogi, BBQ chicken and tofu are all amazing! I definitely recommend the fries here also. Absolutely love this place!

Just ate here for lunch for the first time today. This place is awesome! I ordered the Bavarian burger with cheese fries and my husband got the bNg burger with kimchi fries. Both were super good. No problems at all. I was a little scared to try the kimchi fries, but they are amazing! I will definitely be ordering those next time. The restaurant overall is very clean and the staff is very attentive and friendly. So happy we are within walking distance of this place. It’s a must try!

Super tasty! I had the Umami burger and some Kimchi fries. The Umami burger was nice and juicy, and the fries were not bad. I will go back, but I would warn that the things I ordered were really greasy and a tiny bit salty. So I would not advise anyone who needs to watch their salt or grease intake more than the average person to be aware

So I checked this joint out after seeing them on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. My cousins are Korean so I’m always looking for a good Kimchi spot. BopNgrill did not disappoint. Parking is tricky so look around to find a street spot. It’s small but we were lucky to grab a table outside,(summertime) I didn’t make it there in time to snag a Philly cheese-steak egg roll so :( We waited about 15 – 20 minutes for our food because they stay busy. But it was worth the wait. Flavor Town all around. I had the signature Umami burger and Kimchi fries. We ordered some more stuff but I forget. The point is that everything was as delicious as they promised on the show. I can’t really speak to the service. It’s fast food, pretty much«what do you want?» Not rude or anything, just very matter of fact and let’s keep the party going. I had to drive about an hour to get there so I can’t visit that often but if I lived in the neighborhood, I would frequent this joint.

The low stars comment are usually come from the service. The food is ok. it’s good, but not worth that money. The portion of the meat is far less than the price suggest. I’d give the taste 4 stars. But the cashier that day we have was kinda rude. My friend was not familiar with Korean style so he asked some«freshman questions» but I don’t think that could be the reason that the cashier be impatient and not explain it properly. Also we asked for the free egg roll(I think it’s free on certain day), but just because we didn’t «order» it, so she didn’t put it in order, so they can’t give us after we paid and got our food. It’s ridiculous… I wouldn’t go back anyway.

Ive been here before when they still offered the Father burger which at the time i thought was good! In all of my visits here ive never tried the infamous egg roll they offer only on weekends… The food is phenomenal and service here is amazing! I highly recommend geting the Umami burger add egg, BNG burger, kimchi fries, and bi bim bop add bulkogi! Depending on the time of day you may find it to be crowded but i find going on cold days to be worth the visit minus all the lines! Prices were reasonable for portion!

I really wanted to like this place but my burger was soaked in so much grease it dripped every time I took a bite. I couldn’t taste anything but oil. My mouth and hands were covered in it by the time I was done. That did not make for a very pleasant eating experience nor a very happy stomach afterwards.

Geez… how to review, if I was reviewing for this particular trip I would have given like 2 stars, but the food was 5 as far as greasy burgers go. I got the loco burger with no onion or mayo… yeah, I dont like Onion, I know, I am completely weird and all. I am used to people not listening to my quick talking, high paced vernacular and all, but the register girl was right with me on this, and got my order, repeated it back to me, put up with my first time there, no idea what I wantedness… and was super nice. Got the burger and after I had a few bites noticed it had the onions. They were super nice about it though and gave me a new one, and it was delicious … like really really good. And the fries were actually very good as well, not the normal fast foodish type fries. The other thing that was less than stellar… the before mentioned really awesome front counter girl was diligently doing her job clearing and cleaning the tables after a family left, and did something I dont really like, and that is spraying cleaning fluid from about 3 feet above the table for like a minute, which brought the cloud of chemicals my way and most likely all over my food and me. Sure… I appreciate her desire to rid my food of harmful bacteria, but alittle bacteria builds character I say(actually all bacteria is rather little… but I digress). Anyways, even though that happened, and the fact I consumed really bad for me food, it was a really good burger joint and I recommend it.

KIMCHIBURGERISLEGIT. I was afraid that the a strong kimchi taste was going to cover up the subpar burger but that was not the case! The burger alone would have been good without the kimchi/egg but it took it to another level. One modification that I should have asked for was an over-easy egg as opposed to sunny side up(as you can imagine things got messy; think hands covered in yolk & spicy kimchi juice). FRIESARESOMEOFTHEBEST that I’ve had. They’re double fried french fries which make the consistency amazing. Just the right amount of crispy & soft in the center. I had them plain but would be open to trying them in different styles. The restaurant itself is small but for whatever strange reason, not busy at all(went at noon on a Monday). The employee who took my order was sweet & although she said the Umami burger was her favorite it is very heavy. I opted to go the Kimchi route and I’m not upset with my decision =)

Bopngrill is kinda neat! I honestly avoid fusion since the crowd it attracts is typically pretentious, but this was kinda good. Since its by a college, the crowd is mixed and the music is decent. I ended up ordering some Korean chicken. I was expecting winggggsssss but it was still good nonetheless. The portions are decent as well, though the food can feel pricey at times(its next to a chipotle so…) but overall, I’d go again.

Not sure if I just ordered the wrong menu items or if my expectations were too high because of all the hype. I’ve eaten here twice now and my feelings towards the food are eh. I like the atmosphere but I think the prices are a little too high for the kind of restaurant this is and the food has underwhelmed me both times. First time I was here I ordered a loco moco and was kind of disappointed. Nothing was wrong with it, but I feel like I would have been better off eating at Aloha Eats if I wanted a loco moco. Second time I had an actual burger and that was better but I’m still not sure if it was worth the price. Definitely recommend ordering burgers here as a lot of my friends have the same«eh» feelings towards a lot of the other menu items. Also, kimchi fries. These things get SOMUCHHYPE. Once again I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I thought the kimchi fries were just a huge sloppy soggy(emphasis on soggy) mess. I think I prefer the kimchi fries at Del Seoul and maybe even the ones at Yeowoosai over the ones here. All in all, bopNGrill isn’t bad and if you’re into the whole Korean-fusion trend, you might really enjoy it.

Grabbed dinner with a bunch of friends here and since I wasn’t too familiar with Korean cooking I didn’t really know what to expect. I figured a Korean burger spot would be a good introduction though. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the counter they had run out of the Philly bulkogi egg rolls. We had to settle for the Kimchi fries which were a whole lot better than I thought, considering it’s fermented cabbage. I got one of the plates, the loco moco, and it was super savory. Just two burger patties with rice and gravy topped with a fried egg. It was good but I just kept looking at my wife’s umami burger with truffle and mayo and smoked gouda. If I went again, I already know I’m getting that. Be prepared to wait a few minutes as well. I think it took about 20 from the time we ordered to get our food. Totally understandable as it seemed like a popular spot, but just a fair warning in case you’re looking for something quick.

BopNgrill is a hidden gem up on the far north side by Loyola. Living in the area I had heard about how ridiculous the«Father» burger was and had to try it out myself. Soft bun, two patties, three onion rings and an egg stacked a mile high. That thing was a BEAST. I might still be full a few days from now, which makes it a great value too! Burgers in general are delicious here! The Korean entrees look really good as well. I’d suggest trying either a kimchi burger or kimchi fries as it seems that’s what most people order(I personally don’t like Kimchi). If you find yourself up by Loyola and are hankering for a big meal come check out BopNgrill, it won’t disappoint!
