Three stars because when I walked in on a Thursday night wanting a mani/pedi there was one person to do it and she already had an appointment. It says all over the place you don’t have to have an appointment. A little ticked off… that was me. Also, the rude dude in the front who doesn’t know how to properly greet his customers didn’t help matters. I’ll go back, make an appointment and update my review on the service. For right now, I’m a little annoyed.

So I read everyone else’s review before writing mine, out of curiousity I guess. I had a terrific experience here, but I do think that they might be, as many businesses are, «in between» neighborhoods. In other words, they got a Spanish vibe but maybe many of their clients won’t end up being Spanish-speaking. The business cards are typical for Latino businesses too. That said, I still ended up with a really, really great wash and cut(plus style) for seven dollars. Of course that left me able to leave a crazy good tip, which I felt was well deserved. And hate to sound cutesy or shallow, but my person was Leslie, a smokin’ hot Puerto Rican single and available man. Yikes. Did a really nice job making me feel very comfortable and gave me a great cut. All I need to figure out now is how to «break up» with my current soon-to– be-former stylist who has become a friend. I plan to go back to Leslie.

I’ve been going here for years and had several differnt stylists, and never had a problem, always great service and a great haircut. Can’t beat $ 12…let’s me leave a 20 for an $ 8 tip and feel generous!

Maybe this place is okay for women’s hair, but I wouldn’t sugest going there for a man’s haircut. I live right down the street from Bellisima Salon. My first expereince was decent. I popped in for a quick trim between haircuts. The woman did a decent job for $ 12. I decided to stop in for a full haircut. Bad idea. I am not sure if there was a language barrier or what. I asked for a normal man’s haircut(business like) which normally includes a simple trim on top, tapering of the sides, and cleaning up around the ears and neck. I tell you folks, I can’t even describe on this post what I came out with. I don’t even know if she even cut my hair at all to be honest. Rougue hairs everywhere, super long in front, really short on the sides. I guess you get what you pay for.

I ran in last minute to get my hair styled for an important party — the guy working did an amazing job with what I gave him — I swore I would come back. Then I went in for a bikini wax and the girl had no idea what she was doing. Two hours later — I left in a lot of pain with an unfinished job. The wax wasn’t grabbing the hair — probably due to the fact that she kept putting lotion on(even I know wax won’t stick to lotion which I kept telling her) so she tried to use tweezers(!). I finially asked her to stop. She still charged me $ 45.

Great place for a quick, inexpensive cut. Hair trim specials on Tuesdays. I highly recommend Melissa. I have long, layered hair and she did a great job.

I came here last minute to see if I could get my hair styled before I went out for the night. I walked in around 11 and explained what I wanted. No problem, the 2 ladies said so I came back at 3. An hour or so later and $ 25.00 spent, my hair was perfect! Easy parking and the salon was really cute. They offer everything from haircuts(starting at $ 7), waxing, nails and extensions. I saw another girl get extensions and her hair blown out as well! I think I might have to try them for a haircut next time.

I went here in August after looking for a quick, cheap pedicure. I went on Weds since they have a $ 25 mani/pedi special. Melissa gave me a vigorous, thorough pedicure. She is conscientious, bordering on rough at times, but you certainly feel she is doing her job(at least I associate pain with gain). The mani/Pedi took almost two hours, a result of both her thoroughness and inexperience I think. The customer service needs to be brushed up on — for example, she was 30 minutes late, did not apologize, did not take my coat when I asked where it should be hung up ~ simply pointed to the other end of the salon and said over there, did not offer any beverage and just did not have the savoir-faire of a polished pedicurist(excuse the pun). This would be fine if I was going to a fast-food pedicure place, but Bellisima seems to have an idenitity crisis, since it looks like a high-end, expensive salon, yet their prices are cheap and staff are inexperienced and a little rough around the edges. Given the plethora of places in Chicago, I would probably not return here.

After my last pedicure experience I was looking for a new spot for my ‘foot work’. I am pleased to say that I have found it! Literally 1 minute from work… Melissa gave me a lovely pedicure asking me questions about what I wanted and taking time to pick the Lollapalooza mud out! I won’t go into graphic detail but she really took time and energy on my poor, tired dogs and also gave me a lovely leg massage with the best smelling lotion! While we were talking she confessed that it was her first day at the salon, I knew she seemed kinda nervous but wasn’t sure why… go see Melissa for the pedicure you would expect from a Michigan Avenue salon. I am sure she needs some new clients at her new salon… sweet girl! Lastly, $ 25 for this pedicure is a great value!
