My friends love Pete Wentz & Fall Out Boy, so we HAD to check this out while we were in Chicago. We were are confused once we got there. Maybe we picked the wrong night, but the target demo was NOT what we were expecting. We were expecting a young-20s, alternative/pop crowd, and instead got a late 30s-early 40s hip hop crowd. The DJ was playing old-school 90s hip hop, which is fine, just not what I was expecting from this place at all. Will have to give it another shot next time I’m in town. The photo booth is awesome though! Loved that!

I had the best Bloody Mary I have ever had here. It was spicy and sweet at the same time, so delicious. One the décor side — the Angels and Kings in LA seems way more authentic but this one is still cool. We went on a country night and the bad went on very early and was so loud for a small space that it made it very difficult to talk.

Had a great time here on night 1. Just flew in from LA for«off the distal culture» And the Chicago mid-winter dental meeting. Most hotel bars are fairly lame in the offerings of mundane décor, elevator music, and overly-polite-and-personality-less staff. Not at the Hard Rock. My bartender was James. Badass font of local knowledge. Over the couple hours I sat my ass in the well-cushioned barstool, my glass was never empty long, and was swiftly filled with some frosty cold brew. Got some good leads on local places and culture. Blues, pizza, dogs, beer, and games. Sorry I missed the live music, but they have it every night. Including my sounds of blues on Thursdays. Drink prices are reasonable. $ 6 a brew, for some good flavor in your glass. Not a bad place to stop for an early start to your night, and definitely not a bad spot to end it.

Six of us decided to have a drink and a quick dinner. Waiter screwed up the order, two of the meals he simply forgot to order. Getting a drinks was very slow. When he brought the food the rest of my guests we finished eating before the forgotten meals were served. I ask to talk to the manager, explained the frustration and her answer was Sorry I am the only one here tonight. Will not return to there or to the outdated hotel.

Great music for a hotel bar. This place is located inside of the Hard Rock Hotel and I must say, the music was awesome. There isn’t any dancing space so it’s really just a place to hang out with friends and enjoy a few drinks. Drinks were good and music was awesome.

I really enjoyed the mugshot line-up I thought that was a nice touch and being a huge Pete Wentz fan I enjoyed the different photos throughout of fall out boy and friends on the TV screen. I definitely think the music and the atmosphere was awesome and I would definitely come back whenever I am in Chicago again.

Wanted to stop at the bar for a quick drink downtown. Went on a Friday night and it was great – was able to grab a table for drinks no problem. A very hard rock vibe.

First time here for a birthday party on Saturday night, the music was definitely on point but that was about it. The bartender was overwhelmed to say the least. I waited about 20 minutes for a drink, and when I finally made it to the bar I just said forget it and left. Seemed a little on the small side, but big enough. I’ll definitely give it another try in the near future, the music merits a repeat visit. None of that Top 40 garbage here.

1 Star for atmosphere — although it is a small area it’s neat that they have live music. 1 star for some decent drinks 1 star for some decent food and service Cool chic vibe and dimly lit. Staff is friendly and attentive. The live music was seriously a plus but a bit loud if you’re trying to talk to anyone. The food is average but not overpriced. My blonde on blonde drink was quite tasty. Definitely a good stop if you are staying in the hotel!

The décor, the music, the class, the good service, the plentiful and varied seating, the prime location, the late hours: almost anyone could find a reason to come here… except if you want a quiet evening I suppose. The DJs are always doing their thing with extra vim. The bar is dark; very dark. But it works well with the rest of the semi-gothic décor. I’ve only ever sat at the bar, so I can’t comment on the waitstaff, but my bartenders are always on the ball. It’s inside the hotel, but it’s not a hotel bar, which means the prices are far more reasonable than you might expect, especially considering its Michigan Ave location. Speaking of location, it’s the only place in the area that’s open late night, so while I discovered A&K out of «necessity,» I was not disappointed.

My friend wanted to visit because Pete Wentz owns this bar, so I hopped on along for the ride! I had my fun people-watching even though it was a pretty quiet Monday evening. It must have been Adult Make-out in Public Night here… there was a couple being very tipsy-touchy-feely-kissy in the corner at the bar. Meh, didn’t bother me too much, it was kinda cute because they were acting like teenagers and I’m all for going back to when we were YOUNG(not that I’m old by any imagination…). There was another couple sitting in a booth near us that was quite… mismatched. A very pretty blond in her 20’s with an older chubby not-so-pretty-but-must-have-been-rich guy in his late 30’s. Also quite touchy-feely-flirty. I had an ’07 Edna Valley Merlot for $ 11 and an ’07 Five Rivers Cabernet Sauvignon for $ 10, quite enjoyed both of them although I wish their wine glasses were bigger. My friend had 2 mixed drinks and a beer for a total of $ 20, and he was happy. The atmosphere is nice with dim lighting, pretty chandeliers, and dark curtains decorating the walls. Our server was nice and attentive enough.

We randomly chose this bar to meet up with friends this past weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The bar is small, but dark, quaint, and cozy. There are a few tables set up in addition to the seating at the bar. I am not sure if this bar gets busy or not, but when we were there at about 7 pm on a Saturday, there were just enough people… not too many people, but not dead either. The bartenders were very friendly and offered great service… and they actually smiled!!! Love when servers smile… such a simple and eezy peezy thing to do and means so much!!! I definitely want to mention the bar stools/chairs. These have got to be the most comfortable bar stools/chairs I have ever sat in… and I have sat in a lot!!! Every bar should invest in these… I could sit at any bar forever if only these stools/chairs were present!!! We will most likely venture back to Angels & Kings on another evening with friends!!!

Did I go to the same place as below reviewers? So someone in my group decided we were going to Angels and Kings to see a friend’s band. I had never even heard of the place, so I had no preconceived notions. I was really surprised by how crowded it was! And how much fun everyone seemed to be having! The band was a big bag o’ fun. They were playing with tracks. Kinda lame, but if bars don’t pay enough to get a large dance band, I guess the tracks will have to suffice. I remember thinking to myself that many of the patrons were quite pretty. And that they seemed like locals. What’s funny is now that I know of this place, I hear it’s a touristy club? NOT the vibe I got. Really cool people who were just digging the music. Side note: the band played Tik Tok, and had a male singer, and it was an awesome cover! Loved it. I will surely be back. Note that it gets very crowded the later it gets.

It’s official, Pete Wentz’s bar is cooler than him. Okay, the place was neither crowded or overpriced. I waltzed in there around 9ish on a Saturday(and yes I know that’s early) and grabbed a seat at the bar, and found the bartender to be refreshing and fun. Mixed me a French martini(his choice) which was awesome and I met some interesting people in the process. A Band from Houston named Windsor Drive, some hard core Sox fans, and people that weighed in that I was from Houston… Great crowd, great drinks, and short walk back to my hotel. Loved it!

Okay, this review is coming from the POV of both a patron and member of a band who was asked to play at Angels and Kings. It pretty much sucks on both ends. The stage is TINY. There’s almost zero room for any stage movement. The guys in the band were literally on top of each other the whole time. There’s no room to store gear anywhere. It was completely terrible. The atmosphere of the bar is like a high school lunch room. It’s full of little tables of holier-than-thou hipsters all talking shit about the table next to them. Completely lame. And the drinks? Insanely overpriced. $ 5 for a can of PBR? And that was a special? Seriously, gimme a freaking break. They do get minor points for the music that was playing the night I was there and for the«Fall Out Boy Sucks» that was written on the wall in the ladies room. Not enough to bring me back though. Sorry, Pete.

Okay, I admit I totally wrote this place off as a douchey place because: A) I think EMO is gay B) I think EMO is gay I came here with my cousins that live in Chicago. It reminds me of a classier Carbon in Santa Monica. Dark, narrow, small. One big redeeming quality of this place other than non-Hollywood types here(Probably because this is Chicago) was the music! Whoever was spinning last weekend must have hijacked my Ipod and proceeded to play all old school hip hop and a special MJ set. One BIGFAIL is that you guys sell 40 oz. Colt 45’s for $ 6. What kind of a gimmick novel thing is this that you charge double of a 40 actually is? It was comical however when I did see a group of d-bags walking around with their popped collars and 40 oz. Another fun thing about this is that being from California, dumb drunk broads are still the same. One kept on bumping my bum knee when she was having a convulsion – Oh, I’m sorry, she was dancing. I think. And when she saw my utter pissed off face she tried to talk shit. It went like this: Dumb townie: «Either dance or shut up» Me: «Bitch, Target called, they want their outfit back» Oh yeah, and she proceeded to spill water all over herself. Good DJ though. I will be back. And next time I’m kicking her in the neck. And I snuck into most of their group shots and totally ruined it.
