We have been shopping for area rugs for a while, and we had an opportunity to visit Devon St while on a trip to Chicago. We ended with window shopping at Amar Carpets. Once we saw all the carpets at display we immediately decided that it would be worth the effort to haul the carpet from Chicago back to Cleveland. Amar Carpet has a large variety of carpets and rugs, the gentlemen are very helpful and will never force you to make the buy. They always want you to BUY only if you LIKE it. We love this place and whenever we are at Devon St we make sure we visit them. I have bought two carpets from them 8×4 and 11×13, extremely lovely design, $ 150 and $ 220. I haven’t seen anyone beat their price. The same designs I have seen on other websites online more than twice as expensive and worse in quality. Always ask for their help and they will show you a lot of variety. They will help you in taking the carpet to your vehicle also. Keep up the good work Guys.

We did not have an issue with the carpet itself but the customer service is next to zero. The guys who laid it down forgot to cut a huge flap that blocks an electrical outlet. When we called immediately after the installation to have the flap removed, we were told we would have to pay for additional labor. What?! So we decided to forego it. Now we are selling the place and HAVE to have the flap removed. We called again and were told we would have to pay $ 200. For an issue that should have never occurred in the first place that was the vendors and installers fault. If you want customer service, stay away from this place!

Two thumbs up for Amar Carpet. I never expected to find an elegant area rug for my living room on Devon Ave. But after visiting several(expensive) carpet stores and the big box stores(crappy), I went in on a whim and was surprised to see attractive, good quality rugs for reasonable prices. Many of the imported 8×11s are around only $ 200. They have a decent selection of both contemporary and traditional style rugs. Our sales guy was helpful and even loaded it into the car for us.

After running around to Target, Menards, Bed Bath N Beyond, and all the other usual types of cheap home goods stores, I found myself extremely disappointed in the quality level of area rugs for the money I was being asked to spend. So I decided, «why not try Devon St?» Bingo. Amar was the second shop I checked out. I tried a couple smaller ones afterwards, thinking I could score a better deal(and I could have), but I liked that the show room was big, organized, and clean. The gentleman who helped us was extremely patient, never once applying the hard sell that you will find very typical in the smaller stores. In the end we got a lovely and affordable $ 200, 8×11 foot area rug for our living room. If you have more cash to spend, they also have upscale rugs made of natural fibers. The guy even put it in our car for us. If you don’t have a car, they’ll deliver for as little as $ 20(to a distance of Lincoln Square anyway; yrmv). If you’ve never spent any time on Devon St, you’re missing out. This is a great ethnic neighborhood totally free from the tourism that ruins the nation’s Chinatowns.
