Worst salon ever! I get a blow dry every week so I got a good knowledge of what salons can and can’t do when you ask for a blow dry. All i asked for was a style with a wave in the bottom and he said that would be extra. Alex, if you don’t know how to do that style with a roller brush, you should reconsider going back to hair school(if you even went). Also, if you look down on customers who have groupon, THENDONOTPUTUPANAGREEMENTWITHGROUPON. I don’t know how they even let you put up a business because the whole time I was speaking to you, you couldn’t even look at me in the eye. You do not know what customer service is. I can tell you know you won’t succeed in prospecting for other customers because of this. Do us a favor and go back into doing something you’re actually good at, avoid customer service cause you don’t know the meaning of it.

Womp. Went to get a trim of my bangs and my daughter wanted some side bangs. She cut my bangs wrong and they’re crooked now. I didn’t ask her to fix them because I didn’t want her to mess them up even more. My daughters side bang came equally as bad. She was polite and nice but obviously didn’t know how to trim bangs.

Went for a men’s hair cut with Omar 3 weeks ago and just warning for all you men and ladies. Don’t go when the novelas are on… Why he found it more interesting to see what’s going on TV then cutting your hair. My hair came out below average and had to clean it up on my own. His service keeps going down so that was my last visit.

My cousin & I made appts to have Alex cut our hair on a Sat. We arrived on time but our stylist«was in the back» meaning not there yet. So since I was getting my hair colored, I decided to go first & my cousin would wait for Alex. The staff was OK but spoke little English & I don’t speak Spanish. They semi-understood what I was wanting for my ombré look so they began the process of bleaching my tips to take out the previous color. Long story short, the color is nowhere near what I said I wanted. It’s more of a dirty blond than a light brown. THEN my cousin waited 90 min for Alex to show up but to no avail he did not show so she left. Luckily he came just as I was finishing with the coloring process. When I was brought over to his chair, no ‘Hi, how are you?” «sorry for the wait», nothing!!! It doesn’t get any more unprofessional than that. Then he was pretty cold when asking what I wanted to do with my hair, like if I was inconveniencing him! He was very rough cutting my hair and didn’t even thin it out like I asked him to plus he burned me several times while blow drying my hair. I also want to mention the fact that he constantly kept walking away, taking calls & going to the front desk w/o a word like«I’m sorry, one moment», wth? The cut is nice but not worth the experience. Needless to say, I will never be going back to this dive again.

K, I hate to say it, as I have mixed feelings about salons in general. It’s true that they speak Spanish & often ignore their clients or double-book so that clients wind-up waiting forever to get something done. They also do photo shoots & hair/make-up for pageant contestants & such, so that it is always a wait, but DAMMIT, it’s really hard to find a good hair salon on the south side that won’t cost a super fortune(it’s a little steep for me, but I try to budget to get my hair done right). My hair always looks amazing when I leave the place. I did notice that this is the only place where they don’t noticably sanitize combs & brushes in that blue liquid stuff, they don’t brush the excess hair off of you at the end or even use vaseline or any other product to keep from staining the customers’ foreheads if they are dying hair. I always leave with stains on my face & ears, as they tend to be a little sloppy with that task, but I tip generously because despite all the hassles, they make me look like I have killer hair & they are really nice TOME. Yes, they could use a little more customer service but to be fair, most of the Tre Chique salons I have been to in my lifetime(even during my VERY brief modeling days), had a bad attitude; seems to be common; almost like you had to be a MEANGIRL to get the job!

OK. I know this review may sound a little contradicting, but here it goes: The salon and the service is terrible, BUT the end result is awesome. For the past three years I’ve gotten my hair done here only because I love the end result. The three star review is because this last time that I went, I got my hair done by Omar as opposed to Alex(the owner). I went in around five to get some highlights in, since I knew they closed at 6, I asked if there was still time to get my hair done or I could easily come in the next day… they said there was plenty of time and sat me down right away… well, 4 hours later I’m finally done. He basically ripped half my hair out from how rough he was being; I literally let out a Unilocal(no pun intended) as he was taking the foil from the highlights out of my hair and became VERY concerned when I SAWCHUNKS of my hair on the floor! Then to top it off he wanted to charge me $ 170 dollars!!! He didn’t even blow dry my hair… It was soaking wet when I walked out. I told him that the salon was not Mario Tricoci and i WASNOT going to pay 170 for basically being a victim of hair abuse, so he lowered it to 130. I paid it and told myself I WASNEVERGOINGBACK, but, call me crazy, it’s about time for a hair change and I’m thinking of going back but DEFINITELYNOT with Omar. Call me a masochist, if you wish, but as I said in my first paragraph, I always love the end result.

Well, I was going to this place for the last five years or so and getting my haircut by Mary, who did a great job, but no more! To backtrack, I used to live in the neighborhood, and decided to go in for a haircut several years ago. Mary(Maria) cut my hair, and did a fantastic job. Now, I’m Caucasian, and the place is 100% Hispanic, with Spanish being spoken the majority of the time. There was many times when I waited for Mary to cut my hair as she’s having a conversation with a co-worker, never apologizing for keeping me waiting, and being semi-rude in the process, but I always put that in the back of my mind because of the great haircut. I moved to Lombard around two years ago, and kept coming back to Mary(Maria). Keep in mind that not too many people were ever friendly towards me at that establishment(at times I felt like an outcast) but I kept coming back. Since I moved to Lombard, I decided to attempt to call for an appointment so I would not have to wait for two hours as I’ve done in the past. This past week, I asked one of my co-workers to make the appointment for me(she speaks Spanish). She called on Thursday, and even verified it on Friday. This past Saturday, I make the forty-five mile trek to Alex Salon from Lombard to the Southwest Side of Chicago, thinking that I was going to have an eleven o’clock appointment. Well, to my total dismay, Maria was treating/cutting a woman’s hair. None of the people at the front desk even looked at me as I attempted to talk to Maria, asking her what happened to my appointment. She gave a halfhearted reply that explained she wasn’t in work on Thursday, and had this appointment instead(even though my co-worker called on Friday to verify the appointment). She stated I could come back on Monday, and I said OK(or I could wait two hours). Well, I got in my car, and thought about it, and came back and told the guy at the front desk that I could come back in two hours. He yelled to Mary in the back of the salon(who was at that time shampooing her client) and she gave a rude reply that she could do it in two hours. Again, no apology of any sort, no explanation of why I wasn’t told she was double-booked… I thought about this in my car, and told myself I would never go back there again. This is an example of racism and very, very poor business practices. So I found a place in Villa Park(thanks to the good reviews on Unilocal), got my haircut, was able to communicate with my stylist and the people in the business, and came home happy, as my ride was only ten minutes from my townhouse to the establishment. I should have read these reviews years ago, as Alex Salon is reviewed terribly on Unilocal.Thank God for the internet, as I’m now using it as my point-of-reference from now on for any service that I decide to get. Back to Alex Salon… Enter at your own risk. If you are Caucasian(as a woman described in a review below) you’ll be treated like an outcast, plain and simple. And for as many good salons that are out there in the greater Chicagoland area, I was a fool to keep going back there, and I advise you to not frequent this establishment. It’s not aesthetically pleasing, as again, you can find better!

After leaving a review in April for my early January visit, I’ve returned once again. I’m giving you all another chance! Why? Because the roots were coming out of course, gotta get the highlights touched up! Here’s Alex, salon owner himself doing my hair again. He was pretty annoyed, frustrated it appeared. More hair pulling once again. The shampoo and conditioner portion was HORRENDOUS as I wanted to just curse out the old hag doing the wash. It’s NOT supposed to be painful, it should be gentle and relaxing. I honestly felt that there was some sort of racial crap going on in this place as other girls who were getting their hair done seemed at ease, serene and not in pain like myself. Touch up was finished after 2 hours… Came out just fine. Alex quoted me 60 dollars for the touch up upon entry to his salon, he charged me 70. I returned 2 days later to get my 10 dollar refund as I didn’t catch it the first time around. That in itself was a bit of a hassle. I WILLNOTBECOMINGBACKAGAIN. GUARANTEED.

I came here once and I described what I wanted to do with my hair, and before I can even get a seat to get it done, he gives me this gay look like euuuuu. Seriously what a Jerk! We ask to cut our hair the way we want it! I walked out of this place and tell everyone not to come here! This place is horrible, People don’t waste your money here!

Request mari for a haircut. I’m pretty particular about how my hair comes out… very long with layers. She listened to what I wanted and actually did a really good job blowdrying my hair…(I usually have to go home to blow dry myself cause I walk out looking like have a fro) The place seems to be going through remodeling so not the pleasing place but I went cause a friend recommended it. Note… I spoke to her in spanish the whole time.

My sister recommended this place. Set appointment with Alex. I’ve been there twice for a haircut and both times have been very pleased. I have long hair and Alex cut my hair better than I expected, beautiful layers. Then he has a young gentlemen blow dry my hair, he is good. I came out looking like a hot mamasita and was happy with the price. I get compliments on my layers. Will go on my next cut :)

I walked in to get a up-do done for my short hair,(above my shoulders) i was told $ 20 bucks Alex ended up doing my up-do and charged $ 40. Also I had some guy do my brows, not only did my brows come out THIN(hoochie thin) but the damn guy wasn’t even prepared i had to pop out my own eyebrow brush and comb them then had him pluck out a few missed hairs! Both Alex and Mr. unprepare certainly didn’t get a tip from me! This was 3 years back who knows i’m sure they replaced Mr. unprepare since that’s how Alex runs his show!
