Yea… maybe this place is better when you dine-in? The waffle was delicious but not syrup came with it. The hash browns were under cooked as was the bacon which came wrapped in plastic inside foil like a hot dog or something. No straw for the milk shake which ended up being really yummy with a spoon. Personally, I won’t order delivery from here again MAYBE dine-in if the boyfriend gets hungry enough. Was going to chance it with maybe a grilled cheese and fry order, but they didn’t even cook the bacon all the way. No way delivery should take an hour when I live 4 blocks away and everything arrive cold and melty(the shake). Pretty disappointed too since I really wanted a good breakfast joint. Makes me miss Valois in Hyde Park SO much!

Updating my review as their food is much tastier. They must’ve hired a new cook because their is clearly a difference. They get 5 stars because they have improved their food drastically.

The place isn’t pretty, but it is clean and more importantly, food is done well. Wait staff is attentive, but not overbearing. Parking is available in back.

Wish I could give this place no stars. I just ordered from here for the first time today from Grubhub. I ordered banana crêpe & a reuben sandwich. Crêpe: Omg the worst! I chose the selection to have powdered sugar on them. Also, for $ 7.95 it didn’t specify how many you get. I got 3, wet, soggy, bland, sugarless crepes. They didn’t put the powder sugar, they tasted like soggy eggs with sliced bananas on the inside. Crepes should be a bit crispy. These were awful. Also dry, no nutella sauce or anything. Rueben Sandwich: This was actually good. Came with a pickle, I coulda did without the big pieces of lettuce & tomato on the side, but nonetheless the sandwich was great. Even though they didn’t put thousand island dressing like most Reubens come with. Also, it came with a cup of soup… this was such a heartbreaker as well. It was cream of chicken aka cream of crap. Straight outta a can, bland, hardly any flavor, thick gooey mush! I will definitely NOT be reordering from here again.

Food was greasy, and some what cold just like some of the waitress here. No Thanks I rather drive the extra 30 minutes to Hollywood grill.

Finally! A true breakfast diner — all traditional items you expect from a diner. Eggs, toast, bacon, sausage and coffee! While beyond traditional they offer unexpected items like organic eggs, challah french toast(amazing), and a full menu of other items like hamburgers, sandwich’s, dinner entrée’s and a full dessert menu. Prices — like 1990 prices. 2 people full breakfast of eggs, pancakes, toast, bacon and drink $ 17 with tax! For the mathematically challenged that’s $ 8.50 a person. Unheard of for breakfast in this area or the surrounding area — what can you get in Andersonville for $ 8.50? I love my Andersonville, but lets face it eggs are eggs — they should not cost $ 8! Service was fast, meal exactly as ordered, and so good — not greasy and HUGE portions! We visited in the evening but decided on breakfast instead. We ordered the following: Pancakes(2) took up the whole plate, well done and a little thinned out made them a little crispy around the edges(this is a good thing), bacon well done, not greasy(best bacon ever), hash browns instead of eggs(no up charge), juice $ 8.50(this was ordered for dinner) Challah French Toast thick but not texas toast thick great flavor and browned just right but not hard at all, 2 eggs scrambled cooked to perfection not brown not runny — perfect, bacon well done and so good, soda $ 8.50 Huge container of syrup to share, lots of cream and sugar on the table(my biggest pet peeve is to keep tracking down the server for condiments) Service she was fast, friendly all while they were about to close. She still seated us and said not to worry.( Unilocal said they were open until 8:30, but really it was only until 7). She still gave good service and food was excellent. Restaurant itself, old what can you expect. However it was clean from what we would could tell, it has a real diner counter in the back, booths and regular tables. Its not the Ritz, but not a dive either. You will visit for the food, not the ambiance. Street Parking only — meter /paybox. Location is Roger’s Park but NOT«that part of Rogers Park» — usually pretty ok to walk around freely. Lots of established business in the area that care about patrons and their community.

Grub hub delivery review: Do not order from here. Awful customer service. We were delivered someone else’s order and they offered to ‘switch it back’ talk about unsanitary. Got hung up on and snapped at. 30 minutes later still have the wrong food and refusing to refund us. I asked for a manager and the lady on the phone said no and that I could just talk to her. It’s below average diner food anyways, there are so many better restaurants in Chicago.

Neighborhood diner with kitschy floral booths, constant coffee refills, and a perfect amount of grease. Equal amounts of Spanish and English make this a great reflection of the non-hipster part of Rogers Park: union guys, older latino couples, families with kids, ball caps. No mimosa-brunch specials here – this menu has misspellings and hand-written prices in blue pen and you’re guaranteed a pile of buttery eggs and whatever you decided to mix in(Gyro meat, polish sausage or chorizo hold equal billing to the traditional bacon or sausage.) Big windows on the corner and lots of available booths means I like the atmosphere of this place. Service is friendly and fast(if not overly attentive) with no niceities like«I’ll be taking care of you today and litany of specials. The host greets some folks with loud good mornings and some folks by name and she points out table options and asks what you want. Coffee isn’t the quality you’d get from an upscale brunch place, but not as thin or stale as you’d get a lot of other greasy spoons, and they won’t let you hit the bottom of your mug. $ 10 minimum on credit cards is my only complaint, and high minimums(as much as I know credit card fees probably suck for local businesses) force a loss of a star in my book. But great diner nonetheless.

Wonderful! just the little corner diner you expect. Decent food, super cheap, and ok service. I don’t try to expect too much from an old diner and this place consistently pleases me. Also, I would like to note that the«guy in a doorag,» that served us was incredibly pleasant, attentive and sweet. It seems to me that«JESS. M» didn’t really need to mention his hair piece or call him any kind of names, he has always been pleasant and gracious with me and anyone I have brought here, but I know how badly some white woman can be subconsciously racist towards men of color. Don’t judge this place on an uppity white woman’s view, its really awesome. Its not trendy or fine dining, its exactly what it promises to be, well cooked food, big portions, slow but good service, outdated décor, and a nice place to come nurse a hangover.

Thinking back on the experience, it was 4 star worthy for the food and service. But there was a funk in there that could not be explained without delving into thinking about the nether regions of old ladies. Sorry. My lunch date agreed. Something«muy raro» about it all, but once the bread basket came by, it was up and away for my gustatorial foray into the greasy spoon diner recommended to me by an Über driver/lawyer. Something about that last description should have told me something was up. He’s forgiven. The croque monsieur was awesome. Ham off the bone on a perfectly toasted sandwich of french toast. Syrup and hotsauce were added: yum? Yes. Have to be back for some of the crazy omelettes at this joint. Overall, I left content and full beyond measure; even a little bit sleepy by the time the check came around. Give this place a whirl if you’re meandering the far North Side between daytime activities.

I went here after a place where we usually get weekend breakfast out was closed for renovations. Some of us in the group were still under the influence and in desperate need of calories. This restaurant served us well. The food is tasty and plentiful. We ordered Greek omelet, pancakes and challah French toast. All were good. The eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked. No limp chewy bacon. My wife reported that the coffee was the best she has had at a Chicago diner. The Greek omelet, while good, was a little bland in places. The feta cheese and potatoes needed to be better distributed. The wife loved the French toast.

It’s a diner! It is abundant, uncomplicated and tasty. This is my go-to place to eat when I can’t figure out what I want. Or when I want an omelette. Or when I want a sandwich. Or anything really. Go eat here!

Absolutely love this place! Every time I go in, either sit down or carry out, the wait staff is always very nice and patient with my orders. And the omelets are really good! Very big portions and super hot when it comes out the kitchen. I have never been disappointed

Wonderful staff super prompt delivery option and arrives hot as well. Option for making omelettes only egg whites($ 2.00 extra) is a little steep otherwise I totally would recommend this place for breakfast delivery. I have not eaten at the physical location yet so my review is solely on ease of online ordering and promptness of delivery.

Terrible. I ordered from this place for the first time yesterday, and will never order again. This was a take out order for delivery, and the only positive thing I can say is that it was delivered on time. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, an order of the potato pancakes with hot apples, and rice pudding. Let’s start with the turkey sandwich. The turkey was dry, and the slices were clearly cut close to the bone as they had big knots of gristle and connective tissue in them. And when I say dry, I mean DRY. The potatoes were flavorless paste that were also dry, and the gravy was as thin as water, and some strange dark reddish color I’ve never seen before. The bread this was all piled on was stale. As for flavor? It all tasted the same, which is to say none of it had any seasoning or flavor at all. The sandwich was supposed to be accompanied by soup of the day, which was not included, so as an added insult, I didn’t get everything I paid for. The potato pancakes seem like they may have been okay if they hadn’t arrived stone cold, and the hot apples were tasty, but full of pieces of the core, a few seeds, and large pieces of skin. The rice pudding? To call it pudding is stretching the boundaries of reality. I received a large styrofoam cup filled with a substance that resembled a cup of milk with rice stirred in. Thin enough that you could run it through a strainer. I don’t like to post negative reviews. In fact, the few reviews I do write are only when I have had an outstanding experience, and I tend not to complain about the negative ones, but I’m making an exception in this case because of the terrible quality of this food. I had a short stay in the hospital recently, and when I tell you that this meal was worse than hospital food, I am telling you this from a very recent experience, so you know I’m not exaggerating. Do yourself a favor: walk right past this place.
