Overall we had a great experience here. We came with a larger party and that seemed to throw service off a bit. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed but tried his hardest. Would have been nice to see other staff pitch in and help clear dishes. We all ordered numerous apps and different dishes, each dish was good but the seafood was excellent. I would recommend it as a spot to try as a change to other steakhouses because the Italian fare offers more variety that just steak and potatoes.

My husband & I were treated like ROYALTY at Rush 437 tonight! Trevor(the manager) greeted us RIGHTAWAY& began everything off on the right foot! Water & bread came VERY quickly & then our server– oh our server Miguel– BEST service we’ve had in Chicago in a long, long time! He was sooooo busy, but made us feel incredibly special(and we watched him with the others, he was lovely with them as well!). Incredibly attentive to our every need & just made us feel so special & at home! And Trevor, well, he runs a tight ship for sure– everyone was working hard as was he, but he was honestly so appreciative of our business(even though they were fully booked, he still made time to chat with us & make us feel incredibly special!!) We lived in Europe for the past 3 years, and ate in Milan quite often. This restaurant was VERY reminiscent of our meals there– DELICIOUS, authentic, classy… we can’t wait to go back!!! Thank you, Trevor & your EXCELLENT team!!!

We went here for NYE2016 and ordered the surf and turf from the pre-fixe menu. The food was delicious, generous portions, attentive wait staff, and we liked that they didn’t try and rush us through the courses. Looking forward to coming here again!

Appears to be a real nice, elegant place. However, there’s only one booth. Great place, Great food and wonderful staffs. I recommend this place steak & Italian food lovers.

Ah. We had such great expectations… $ 150.00 for a bad meal always irritates me! Service was okay, the waiter had too many tables but was extremely sweet. My husband had the linguine, it was okay. I had the Gratanati, potato dumplings in a heavy cream sauce. It was terrible.

Stopped in for Happy Hour. You couldn’t even tell if the place was open. Took forever to get a server. We were treated as an inconvenience. We probably would have stayed for dinner but left because of the terrible service.

Hours say open until 10 pm on a Monday. I go in. Order a drink. Settle in at place and get games on. Then at 820 pm with no prior warning, bartender says last call. Huh? I ask. He says well restaurant not crowded enough to stay open. So here is clue. Forget their posted hours. Forget what they say. Go at your own risk. Be prepared to be thrown out at their whim because staff is tired and wants to go home early. Avoid this place. Too many better places in same area. Joe’s, Eddie V’s(which has live jazz, unlike 437), etc. This place is a skip recommendation. No wonder they are offering discount gift cards at Costco. Tells you all you need to know. P. S. Manager brings out free white wine and pours for two people at bar, but skips everyone else. How insulting is that!!! Again, skip this place. Not above board.

Went here for my birthday dinner and both my boyfriend and I received food poisoning within hours after eating here. My mother and boyfriend contacted the restaurant after we contracted it and they were very rude about the whole situation and did not seem to care at all. Would never eat at this place again.

This Italian steakhouse offers great service and excellent food in an environment that differentiates it from the other steakhouses in town. It’s lighter and more open(less«clubby») than the dark wood red leather booth places. We had the Prix Fixe menu, which included our choice in each of four courses. Many of the starters and second courses had an Italian slant, but I wouldn’t really describe it as traditional Italian cuisine. Steakhouse staples such as shrimp cocktail were also offered. Both the filet mignon entrée and the ahi tuna entrée were really excellent: tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. We finished with an excellent tira misu. There is a nice wine list with some reasonably priced selections.

I really wanted to like the dinner more, but service was a bit off. Waitress was attentive at first, but towards the back half of the meal, she disappeared and was very difficult to get a hold of. The parties of 5 or 6 apparently took priority over our party of 2. It was also odd that my carafe of wine disappeared when I went to the bathroom(before my husband got to the table after parking the car). I assume someone poured the rest into my glass and took the carafe back to the bar? Foodwise, it was a miss on the Montecarlo chicken. Husband asked for no cheese, and the waitress repeated this and wrote it down. What showed up was the chicken entrée fully loaded with cheese. The kitchen quickly fixed the mistake, but then the Montecarlo was served without any prosciutto whatsoever… whomp whomp. The side of roasted cauliflower was flavorful and generous in size. I liked my gnocchi, but it was a little heavy handed on the cream sauce. Skip the profiteroles. They taste like the frozen kind(venture over to Paris Club for these!).

C’mon, it’s a Phil Stefani Joint!!! What else needs to be said! They stick with what works at 437. The menu was predominantly Italian. The menu is very simple with very robust offerings. The staff is well educated on the ingredients the dishes and recommended wine pairings. I got the pasta seafood pretty much most of the appetizers all of them to die for. My favorite item on the menu is the bananas Foster. It is such a great dessert and accents the end of a great meal!

Truly one of the best Italian steakhouses chicago has. Classy and classic. But still inviting and just enough of casual. The chef is a master and you should go. Yes. Go.

I became a huge fan of 437 Rush after my first experience there in December. My sisters and I came here to celebrate the holidays and had an awesome experience. While I’ve never been to 437 I really liked what they did with the spot during their recent remodel, it’s sleek and upscale while also being inviting, an A+ in my book. In addition to the atmosphere the spot also has great, attentive servers. Ours gave us recommendations when requested and was extremely friendly. One a starter we went with the buratta and it was phenomenal. One of my sisters had never tried burrata before and fell in love with it in short order. We also ordered a bowl of the lobster bisque, I’m not normally a lobster bisque kinda gal but there’s is AMAZING and definitely worth trying if you’re there. They also have a killer breadbasket, just make sure not to get too full on it before your apps come! For my entrée I went with the pumpkin ravioli in brown butter sauce. I was a little on the fence about ordering it but boy am I glad our waiter pushed me in that direction because it was outstanding and some of the best pasta I’ve had in a LONG time. They give you a huge portion and I couldn’t have imagined finishing it so I make sure to take it to go. In addition to ordering the pasta I also went with a side order of their brussels sprouts while they were good they were not my favorite part of the evening. One of my favorite things about ordering sprouts in a restaurant is how crispy, decadent, and flavorful they usually are. The 437 sprouts were cooked fine but did not fall under any of those adjectives. Not worth an order here. My sisters went with the steak sandwich and the porchetta. The porchetta was the only dish that truly missed the mark the whole evening. It was a large piece of rather dry pork wrapped in bacon and not at all satisfying. Additionally the polenta that accompanied it was not very warm leading to an altogether underwhelming meal. However my other sister really enjoyed her steak sandwich and we had a very pleasant meal over all. If you’re looking for classic Italian and steaks 437 is definitely worth considering.

We came here on NYE around 3pm and we were the only people there! The staff were very polite and let us have a couple drinks while they were getting ready for their NYE. Seems like a good place to have a few drinks — will definitely come back and check this place out!

I went here today for a business lunch and the food was decent. More than the food, the service was very good and attentive. Because it was lunch I had RibEye Steak Sandwich instead the more traditional steaks. One of my associates also had that sandwich and they accommodated his penchant for changing everything(not tomato, no onion, no lettuce, with mozzarella, with a side of red sauce, etc.) — so that was a positive. My other colleague had the Chicken wrap which looked, ok. In terms of the sandwich I got, it looked pretty plain, the onions were nicely caramelized, but the steak itself was a little… weak. It was a bit gristley, it wasn’t sliced just a slab of steak, the bun was a simple ciabbatta bun. There was nothing fun about this sandwhich from a visual perspective. From a taste perspective, well, I am giving this place 3 stars. It’s not bad overall, Given their location, I probably wouldn’t come back again unless they lowered their prices or ‘sexed up’ the look of their food and taste.

Yeah I know it’s known as a steakhouse but screw the beef. For me, their pasta dishes always excite me and if I want to go a bit«lighter» I opt for one of their cheese courses and arugula with their house vinaigrette. Yes, I know the amount of fat and calories in my cheese indulgence is probably more than a pasta dish but I don’t care. Service has always been top notch but not too formal in a weird upper crust steakhouse way, you know what I mean. I’m glad other people don’t like it very much because that means no wait times for me!

The Chef sent us «his choice» dishes as per our request on that special occasion. Cold cuts were super delicious, the risotto and the pasta too(see pictures!) and we ended up eating a lot of many different dishes. We matched all with a very good bottle of Da Vinci Chianti and thanked the Chef for delicious lunch. Viva Chicago!

«I would hug this cow to thank it for its sacrifice,» I told my co-worker and dinner companion across the table after taking the first bite of my 8oz filet. It was that good. No, it was the best piece of meat that I’d had in a long time; juicy, tender and needed absolutely nothing. She was vegan and didn’t think my statement was as sincere as I intended it. The steak wasn’t the only highlight at 437 Rush, though. The whole evening was an amazing experience. I was already intrigued by a business that has a sign in the shape of a coffin above the stairs that go down to the main entrance, but the deal was sealed with the first sip of that delicious Moscow Mule at the beautiful bar in the main room. The whole restaurant has an old-school class to it while serving a very contemporary, complete menu. Our(rather large) group shared a number of appetizers including the calamari and bruschetta. Entrees were heralded all around. The sides were also good, though the cauliflower was the benchmark for me. The aspargus was alright, but a bit of a let down in its plainness compared to the simple elegance of the other dishes on the table. The service was impeccable, always keeping us in stock of chianti or whatever anyone was drinking and bringing out our orders quickly and accurately. So, how did my vegan friend fare at a steakhouse? They made her a special dish that was much appreciated both in taste and sentiment.

Standard Italian Fare– Nothing Ground-Breaking Phil Stefani’s 437 Rush Restaurant is one of several Italian restaurants in the area. Truth be told, Chicago is one of the greatest American cities for Italian cuisine and the competition here is stiff. 437 Rush has a typical appearance of an Italian steakhouse. It’s clean and comfortable but the ambiance is nothing special. The service, as other reviewers have noted, is quite good– attentive and kind. The cuisine at 437 Rush is a mix of steakhouse fare with standard Italian dishes. The meats and Italian staples are done reasonably well but you’re just not going to find anything innovative or special here. There’s not much difference between 437 Rush and Maggiano’s except the price. To start, we had the fritto misto which featured fried calamari, shrimp, and vegetables. The calamari were good– crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. We also ordered the antipasto, which as also pretty good. The prosciutto was quite good actually. The parmesan cheese was a bit bland as were the olives. For the meal, I got the filet which was cooked to order and good quality. It was good but not memorable. Overall, Phil Stefani’s 437 Rush provides reliable takes on common Italian staples and steaks. In a market saturated with Italian restaurants, a place like 437 Rush needs to innovate and push the envelope more in order to stick out from the crowd. If not, it’s just one of a handful of upper-price range restaurants that will please some and disappoint others.
