MedStar Prompt Care – Chevy Chase

I came back to DC from an overseas trip with a major, lay me flat, flu or something and as my own primary physician was on a holiday break, headed up to the MedStar Friendship Heights walk in clinic. Ended up there twice for two different issues within one week (as I’m having to head back overseas again soon). As the daughter and widow of physicians, I can say that had totally prompt, totally professional, friendly, and very effective service and treatment. Would definitely return should my regular provider be unavailable.

Dr Mehaney is the best Dr. I have ever seen. As an ICU nurse myself, I think I have an idea about healthcare. Dr. Mehaney is extremely friendly and very smart so he makes it very easy to explain what’s going on. I can say comfortably he makes my wife and I feel like family.

I have been a patient at this location for several years now and the doctors and staff there now are horrible. Rude and demaning on the phone and care not one moment about what you may need, its about what they are doing at the moment. Called and was told to come on in and they could see me right away, showed up and the doctor on call was eating and said i should probably go to another practice or ER, even though it wasnt an emergency, and then when I tried following up to schedule an appt with the doctor, I was asking for a doctor to call me back and the nurse on the phone was offended that I didnt want to speak with her but the doctor so she bluntly stated, «since you dont want to talk to me, but a doctor, I can leave a message, there are no doctors here today» Um can you help me? is what I then asked and she replied «I dont know but I will leave a message for a doctor and they arent here today anyway» to which I then hung up.
Ever since Dr. Alphonse Mehany left this place has done nothing but spiral and is now a circus. DO NOT GO HERE!

I selected tis office because it was close to my office and home. First check up I had the doctor left the practice shortly after to have a baby. The second time I came I saw a new doctor who gave me a lab corp form and a pap smear check. She was nice enough but she too, told me she would be leaving this center. I was charged over $ 400 dollars out of pocket for unauthorized tests which I did not ask for. I came in for a simple pap smear. Now I have to resolve with LAB CORP and the office to get the charges corrected. Unfortunately, no one in MedStar has been able to assist me after repeated phone calls and letters. I will not return. Stay away.

If you are traveling by car and park in 5454 Wisconsin Ave., note that this office is next door. The address is Suite 401, but there is no 4^th floor in 5454.
When I arrived, I was told that not only was Dr. Radley not working today, but no doctors were. The front desk said they called all of the appointments, but I had no missed calls, voicemails, or emails. They did not have my phone number recorded correctly, so they updated it. I scheduled the appointment online through zocdoc, which has my correct contact information so I do not know where the mixup occurred.
I made the appointment because I had been ill for several days. The office staff informed me that the next available appointment was in two weeks. I hoped they would be able to fit me in sooner due to this mix up. I arrived home two hours after I had left, without having seen a doctor, still sick, and very disappointed. I will not use this doctor or this provider again.
I cannot comment on the quality of the doctors.

I recently changed my healthcare provider so started to look for a new PCP near my house. Fortunately, MedStar Chevy Chase accepts BlueCross Blu Advantage so I gave this place a try. The first time my appointment was cancelled because of a snowstorm that shut down the city, I couldn’t get another appointment until 2 months later since I was a new patient. That was fine since I didn’t have anything pressing to go to the doctor for; all I wanted was a blood test and get my vitals checked out.
Dr. Radley is the best PCP I’ve ever head. I don’t have anything negative. Normally doctor’s offices have a 30 minute wait before seeing the doctor but I was brought in immediately upon arrival. The nurse checked my vitals in a patient room. After filling out some necessary paperwork, Dr. Radley came in and asked my situation and if there is anything she should know about. She’s calm, polite, and knowledgeable. Basically everything you look for in a doctor. I injured my lower back while doing deadlifts so she gave me some advice to recover. She also asked for a follow up if the problem persist after a few weeks.
The nurse came back in and took 3 ½ vials of blood for blood tests. Dr. Radley said she’s going to follow up with me if there are anything worth noting in the blood test. She will also email a copy of the blood test for my own analysis. I am very happy with this experience. I think I found my PCP in DC.

I just had my first MedStar Chevy Chase experience and it was not a good one. I was kept waiting for over 30 minutes, despite calling beforehand to check that things were running on schedule. The doctor was incredibly low energy and spent 75% of her time sitting and typing things into the computer — very non-​personal. I am convinced she mis-​diagnosed me as well. I have flu-​like symptoms and the doctor thought it was allergies. Body aches aren’t symptoms of allergies. I was also gong to get a flu shot but was kept waiting another 10 minutes by myself, got tired of waiting and left.
I’m disappointed. This facility is very close to my office — super convenient — but the care was poor, wait time ridiculous (is my time not worth anything?) and the diagnosis I do not believe was accurate. I won’t be returning.

I have been coming here for almost three years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. It is easy to get an appointment and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen (and I’ve been to plenty of doctor’s offices where you wait for hours!). The staff is very friendly. Dr. Mehaney is great. He is personable and makes you feel very comfortable. He will call you personally if you have a concern and will return your blood work results himself.

If I have Negative staring I Used to give it for ur service MedStar is so careless abt charging their customers, Though i submitted my insurance it dint even care to look up and charged me the entire amount and later even when i submitted the insurance info again they least bothered about taking that information.
