Doctor Widerlite is exceptional and his nurses, medical assistants, staff and operations reflect his personal attention to patients and efficient responses.
I was a first time patient having been referred by my Internist. I have had IBS for many years. Now I am normal for IBS and taking 1 stomach pill/​day instead of 3. Much easier lifestyle… AMAZING!!!
Doctor Widerlite spent 45 minutes with me for the initial consultation. He said he learns 95% from talking to patients, the rest from examination and testing. Then he suggested a breath test — one of three or four available to test treatable causes of IBS symptoms. Meanwhile he had me slowly reduce my stomach medication.
Then he told me to CALL HIM in 2 weeks to report on my condition after reducing medication — I said call you? He said: Yeah, I return patients calls… and he did. Saves his time and my office visits!!!
The scheduler set up the breath test — very efficient process with paper instructions in large type.
The testing is set up in a long corridor of small rooms so there is little waiting and medical assistants and nurses are right there. The test showed I had an overgrowth of bacteria.
Doctor Widerlite prescribed an antibiotic and his medical assistant, Nancy, was in touch with me and the pharmacy (again personally by phone) to ensure I had the medication ad knew what to do. Again, an amazing person Nancy.
I was impressed with the organization — each doctor had a rolling laptop table for patient records. The patient on line records system is easy. The offices are modern and functional with separate spaces/​personnel for scheduling, medical, testing, records and signing in/​waiting room.
The follow up billing was also correct, processed without error through Medicare and TriCare.

Dr. Koff is a five star doctor with an amazing background in training and service to our country but most importantly, he is a damn good doctor. He was named top Doctor in the Washingtonian for a reason. He takes the time to listen, asks the right questions, and answer your own question. He has the right balance of calm, dignified demeanor with empathy. I found him thru referral from my primary care (Dr. Laura Hofmann MD, also great doctor). She referred me and she sent me into his good hands. I’ve been here twice now and have no regrets.
Staff is friendly and professional. Office is clean and they have multiple locations. I’ve been to their older location in Chevy Chase and now their current location.
I have never had to wait too long to see the specialist here. And that’s what you are getting, a specialist! I will be back for sure.
