Pine Manor College Child Study Center

I can’t say enough good things about this program. Class sizes are small and the teachers are dedicated and caring, helping each child to grow and flourish. They are involved with their students, and will gear projects towards the interests of the children. The lines of communication between parents and teachers are always open. They use the entire campus as their classroom, from taking books out of the library, doing yoga in the gym, learning about nature in the «Pine Cone Forest», and making scientific observations at the pond. Children play outside every day, which helps their social development immensely. My son has developed so much over the last year, and I am confident that the CSC has played a huge part in that. He doesn’t want to leave at the end of the day, and can’t wait to come back every morning. The schedule is great, with different program lengths according to your needs. Unlike many schools, they don’t close for random days off and multiple vacations, which is wonderful for working parents who won’t need to find childcare.
I know my son will be very sad when me moves on to kindergarten next year, but I am looking forward to sending my youngest there when he is old enough.

This place is amazing! I transferred my daughter here when her Montessori school closed, feeling nervous about the change and curious what could be better than Montessori, well its Pine Manor College Child Study Center! My daughter took a month to feel comfortable at Montessori when she started, at Pine MAnor CCSC it took about a day. The teachers are calm, loving, warm and interesting and interested. They post pictures of your children and send them to you (invaluable). They think up amazing projects that while being fun also teach. They have a science program led by specialists, a music program led by different specialist and each person on staff brings their own interests (my daughter loves her ‘dance class.’) The hours work really well, they do not close for a million different things, just standard closing like you find in home day care. Its a GEM! In a forest in a college campus (makes it easy to teach young the idea of going to college, or even what one is!). Access to all that a college campus has, gym, library etc. My daughter is looking forward to winter so she can go sledding and ice skating while at school! Please consider, its wonderful!!! I cant say enough and I am picky. :)

This is a wonderful preschool! The teachers and director are all amazingly warm and caring, and the campus is beautiful. The curriculum is well planned and the kids also do multiple supplemental activities (puddlestompers, yoga, music, etc). We have been so happy with the school and highly recommend it.

My wife and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found this pre-​school! We did a number of tours of other daycare centers and preschools in and around the Brookline area but this one impressed us the most, and continues to impress us every day. Incredibly warm and caring staff, great facilities and additional enriching activities keep the kids engaged throughout the day. Almost always a smile on our daughter’s face at pickup time! We highly recommend this preschool, and I’d be surprised if there’s a better all-​round option in the greater Boston area!

The child study center is a wonderful preschool. My child absolutely loves it. He goes there every morning with a big smile. The staff is very kind and are all just wonderful with the kids. Some of them have been with the preschool for over 10 years.
The kids have a wonderful space outside and on colder days they have a gym where they can run and play.
The kids are always busy with fun projects, they do Yoga every other week and a music teacher also comes in to play the guitar and teach the kids some fun songs.

I drove with my son-​in-​law to pick up my four-​year-​old granddaughter from Pine Manor preschool this afternoon. The first thing she said was, «I had such a great day at preschool today!»
A few weeks ago, while I was visiting her home, I asked her what her favorite thing at school was that day. She responded: «My whole school.»
From the time she began at the Pine Manor preschool in Brookline, just over a year ago, this little girl has thrived and blossomed. She has made friends and loves her teachers.
The teachers I’ve met are competent and caring, really getting to know each child. The facility itself is in a charming former house on the extremely beautiful grounds of Pine Manor College. There is a lovely yard outside for outdoor activities.
I couldn’t be happier with this program. I would rate Pine Manor preschool a 10 if it were possible.

This is a wonderful preschool on the beautiful campus of Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, not far off Route 9 East. The teachers are terrific and work as partners with families, and the Child Study Center is bright, clean and cheery with a big playground with nice equipment. I am very impressed with the curriculum and quality of the education; my children ask to go to school even on weekends. During the school day the classes walk to a duck pond on campus, go for nature walks in the woods, and visit the college’s library. There are outdoor activities every day, except when it rains or the weather is just too cold, and then the children are taken to the college’s gym to play which is a great alternative that not every school can offer. At certain times of the school day the three year old class has the opportunity to interact with the four year old class which is very nice.
The setting is very secure — no one can drive on to the Pine Manor campus unless they have a reason to be on the campus — everyone needs to stop at the security gate. The CSC has a key card access system — parents are given a key, other visitors need to ring a doorbell. There is an alarm the sounds if doors to the outside are open for more than a certain amount of time, alerting the staff.
Children can start attending the CSC at age 2 years 9 months.
The school is a lab school affiliated with Pine Manor’s Early Childhood Education Program. In addition to the classroom teachers, students from the college’s Education program interact with the children making the student-​teacher ratio quite high at times! The school is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). There are extended day options available as well.
This is a true hidden gem — most people come to the CSC by word of mouth. Families are from many different towns including Boston, Brookline, Newton, Jamaica Plain, and Wellesley. It is a great place and well worth a visit as you are researching preschools!
