Went here for dinner at 630. The waiter was nice, but I thought it was weird that they had run out of a few of the margaritas(coincidentally the cheaper ones) smack in the middle of dinner time. Btw, the restaurant was really empty. I asked the waiter how they had already run out of the house margarita and he just laughed and said well its 5 o’clock somewhere. Weird but fine. I got the 12 dollar one. For the entrees, it says you get rice and beans. My friend and I got 2 separate entrees, and they gave us one portion of rice and beans to share in this little center piece. I figured 2 entrees meant two portions. The food. I don’t know if it’s just what I got(chicken with mole sauce) but it tasted bad. I’m not really picky, but I couldn’t eat half of it. My friend liked hers though, so maybe it’s just that one entrée. The chips were really good I guess… and they refill those. And the outside seating was nice. 2 stars for that.

Queso fundido = solid, salty. Nice salsa. Enchiladas mixtas sauce has a BBQ sauce tangy quality. Three meats within very dry. Corn tortillas on flautas were soft throughout. Sauce on these also weird. Bartender solo. Overburdened.

The two stars are for the margaritas which were delicious and the guacamole. The atmosphere in this restaurant is nice but the food is extremely subpar, especially for what they charge for it. We asked what the spiciest dish they had was and the waitress responded«nothing on our menu is spicy.» Wait, what? Isn’t this a Mexican restaurant? The menu was quite limited and underwhelming. We were told their menu had just updated so I don’t know if it was better before. I got the stuffed poblano peppers… couldn’t taste anything except goat cheese which was disappointing. You’re better off going to a place like Papa Gayo.

Don’t mess with Texas. As a Mexican food connoisseur living in Houston, it is tough to find Northern restaurants that come anywhere near the authentic restaurants in the south. I decided to try Besito in Chestnut Hill while visiting Boston after receiving a gift card. Located in the Chestnut Hill Mall, it offers both inside(very dark) and outside seating(located directly on top of a busy parking lot — somewhat killing the vibe). Let’s start with the positive. If you like a dark and intimate atmosphere, you will like the inside décor. The bar is set up nicely and is attractive to the eye, and the margarita menu is awesome. I had the fresh watermelon margarita and it was truly one of my favorite drinks of all time. I wish that I could say the same about the food though. Besito just misses the mark on offering an authentic experience food wise. It seems like they try to do too much with sauces and heaviness, which these recipes don’t need it. Example… we ordered the ceviche, which a normal Mexican recipe calls for simply lime juice and salt over the seafood/veggies. This ceviche had a completely unnecessary thick orange sauce which killed any taste of the fish & shrimp. I then took a shot at the pastor plate — marinated pork tacos with pineapple pico. The pork didn’t taste like anything, because it was so overcooked and covered again in some type of overwhelming sauce. Again, they try to do too much instead of playing up the natural flavors of the meat/veggies/spices. In terms of service, the restaurant wasn’t even half full, but our waitress was really slow and we constantly had to look for her in order to order more rounds of drinks. We ended up trying 8 – 9 dishes and ordered a large round of drinks, spending over $ 200 for the 4 of us. I glad that we tried Besito, however, I can’t recommend the food unless you like a super Americanized version of Mexican.

Great service and food. The servers are so polite. They make the guac right in front of you and it was delicious. Not too expensive either. We got the quesadilla and they were very good! Would come again.

Food is ok service was great, but id rather sacrifice service for phenomenal food. As for as drinks, had there signature margarita recommended by our waitress, good cocktail just a little too sweet for me but hey its a margarita. Would I go back? Maybe but in no way shape or form will I be going back soon, there are just too many other mexican places to try and frankly a little better ie. Agave in Newburyport, MA or Portsmouth, NH. Price: cocktails, appetizer, and entres: Just shy of $ 100 including tip

Great-looking restaurant, terrific service, bland food. I was here for a late, weekday lunch so the kitchen may have been in a between-meals lull. However, that’s not a great excuse for bland food served warm, not hot, and an overly-precious presentation. One of the best parts of the meal was the chips and salsa that preceded it. The chips were warm and crisp and the salsa was fresh, bright and garlicky. Unlike any tortilla soup I’d ever had before, Besito’s is thickish and dark brown. It tasted pretty good, but if you’re expecting«normal» tortilla soup, you may be disappointed. It was brought to the table in a little teapot and poured dramatically into the bowl. Adorable. And not hot enough. The carne asada tacos(the waitress described these as «our version of fajitas») were also odd. The beef was tender and tasty(not hot enough), but the corn tortillas were thick and about the size of drink coasters. Cute as can be! Accompaniments included a tiny pot of black beans(tasty, not hot) and some very bland white rice. I’m a transplant from Texas to New England, so I’ll admit to being pretty snotty about Mexican food. But I’ve had far better, even here in Boston, with much less fussy presentation at a much lower price. A great addition to the meal was the churros«for later» and the little, Mexican worry doll( ) that were presented with the bill. The churros barely made it out of the parking lot. They were delicious.

We were extremely surprised at how terrific it was! We generally do not go to restaurants in malls, and my husband lived in Mexico for a while and worked in restaurants all over the U.S. for years, so he is ever so picky about any type of Mexican food. But this was on our way home on a rainy Friday evening when we didn’t feel like wandering to find a place in Boston or Cambridge. Loved the fresh guacamole made table side. We got medium which did not have much heat, so we will order the hot next time. I did feel sorry for the waitstaff having to maneuver those big carts piled with avocados and heavy mortar and pestles, through the aisles! Loved the ambience, a somewhat dark room, lit mostly by electric votives, which is very relaxing, and would make for a very romantic setting as well. The room is decorated in Mexican/Southwest without being too much of a stereotype. The warm yellow walls make up for the darkness. One note, the exterior wall of the restaurant has shutters that are closed tight that could give the impression that the place is closed — don’t be fooled, go inside and check! Portions are so large that we brought home half our entrees to enjoy next day. The enchiladas carnitas had a bean salsa rich with different flavors of peppers, meat broth, spices. Many other dishes had salsas that differed from the generic red tomato type, something you don’t see much in this area. We certainly appreciated it! The desserts aren’t listed on a menu, just recited by the waitstaff, so I imagine this means choices change frequently, but there are a reasonable amount of choices. We split a chocolate pudding that was almost as dense as flan, very chocolatey. When we asked if churros were on the dessert list, we were told they are actually complementary with the bill but the waitress obligingly served them to us early, so we could dip them in our chocolate dessert — fantastic! Service — felt a bit rushed to us, but we’ve noticed that fast service is what a lot of customers in suburban places require, and the service was certainly very helpful and friendly, so we didn’t take it personally. Disappointment and reason for only 4 stars — Only one margarita is available frozen, BUT it was great, lots of lime flavor in spite of pomegranate being one of the ingredients, and not sweet. My request to management — please offer a classic margarita in the frozen style, and then the husband will be very happy!

I ate there just the other night to celebrate my birthday with my friends and we enjoyed a spectacular meal with amazing service. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The servers were attentive, the manager even checked on us twice, but best of all we had the most patient and outgoing waitress, her name is Hannah, which we had to ask because she was so wonderful that we needed to make sure her managers knew. She took photos for us, helped us steer clear of an allergy, helped us decide which drinks to order, and gave us fabulous food recommendations. I will definitely be back soon.

The food is amazing, the service is fantastic. I am part Colombian and grew up in an area where I had easy access to authentic Mexican food. Upon moving to Boston I have found it difficult to find good Mexican restaurants. The first time I can to Besito with my non Hispanic fiancé, we enjoyed it so much we came back later that week. The guacamole was the best we’ve ever had. The enchiladas were tasty and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for good authentic Mexican in the Boston area.

Just not that good! Table side guacamole is amazing but that’s hard to screw up. I got the veggie tacos and they didn’t have any flavor, it was just sautéed veggies with cheese and avocado, lacked any seasoning. Overpriced too! Papagayo is much better

There are a lot of mixed reviews for here. could live on Mexican food so I decided to check out Besito with a friend. It is dark inside with little lights. I do have say Besito has a lot of nice little touches. They brought us worry dolls and warm churros at the end of the meal. The 2 stars are for my delicious fresas margarita! They tried to seat us next to entrance even though, it was not crowded. I asked to move as I was cold and did not want to sit there. We ended up sitting at a 2 person booth. They brought chips and salsa. Some of the chips tasted stale and the salsa had a preserves texture. The service was slow. We both ordered a fresas margarita. It was delicious and probably the best part of the meal. We decided to order table side guacamole. We requested for it to be medium spicy. It was made to order but was not medium spice at all. I have had better i.e. Papagayo. I asked for it to be more spicier and they just put me a mini cup of cilantro. I ordered chicken skillet tacos while my friend got an enchilada dish. My tortillas was small and not heated. The skillet chicken lacked flavor and spice. I was disappointed and did not end up finishing my meal. I am hoping to be able to jazz it up for at home leftovers. It was really slow trying to get our check. So sad that I did not like it here.

Bueno, Bueno Bueno! Besitos is a class act time and time again. From the atmosphere to the attentive service, the staff went above and beyond at all times our visit. While the whole meal was amazing, what stood out to me was their amazing tortilla soup. They serve it table side by poring the soup from a tiny pot into shredded chicken, avocado and crème. The broth was beyond delicious, the way all the flavor melded together was a culinary marvel. Our meals and service were both a 5. They bring you warm little churros(heaven in a bag) at the end to top off your meal. A lot of places to eat in that area but Besitos is a stand out.

We had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! We came with our 8 month old baby and right after we were seated a very friendly waitress stopped by with slices of avocado and banana for her to munch on. She was given her own cup of water(we didn’t use it, but it was still thoughtful) without us asking. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We got the table side guacamole, and when we found it lacking in spice, I looked around for help and someone, not our waitress, came over immediately and addressed the issue. The food was delicious and served promptly. Plates were cleared as needed, but not so as to make us feel rushed. At the end, although we declined dessert, we were given a bag of warm churros to take home, as well as two little worry dolls. I thought these extra touches really made this place feel special. We will definitely be back!

We enjoy coming to this restaurant. The food and service is very good. They are average price in the Cheesecake Factory range. The house made tortillas and tableside guacamole are great. They make it in mild, medium, and hot. Neither the mild nor medium have any kind of heat. The hot has good zip but the heat can be in consistent based on how well it was mixed. I recommend the hot for more flavor. The menu is good ranging from your typical fajita plates to more intense Mexican dishes. Everything we’ve gotten was good. Not a big fan of the appetizers, but the guacamole is good enough for an app. Solid drinks as well, lots of different tequilas, margaritas, and mixed drinks to pick from. Overall its a solid restaurant all around. They do get busy on the weekends so I would recommend making a reservation.

We’re from California and are used to excellent Mexican food and did not expect such good food in Massachusetts. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent and my shrimp tacos tasted fresh and delicious. My wife’s fish tacos were terrific as well. The service was good and the bill was $ 38. Would never go back. Chips and Salsa were ok, but didn’t get my drink for 15 minutes after we ordered or even a water to wash them down. Food was bland and staff was not prepared to handle lunch crowd over Christmas break. Christmas break at the mall? They should be prepared. We watched as the tables around us had similar poor experiences with both food and service. It’s unfortunate, but It’s worth writing a review so you too will not waste your money here.

Besito is a nice Mexican restaurant located in the rapidly improving Chestnut Hill mall. It’s definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant. While I typically eat Mexican restaurants from fast food joints, my fondest experiences of great Mexican food were when I was in Encinata, Mexico. And Besito certainly reminds me of that experience. Given what we heard about the guacamole that is made table-side, we ordered it. We chose to order a mild version of it because we figured since our son loves avocados, he may enjoy it too. The guacamole is made table-side, which is quite a cool concept. It reminds me of the old school steak houses where they make your salad table-side. And the fact that it’s so fresh does make it taste better. Surprisingly though, it was the salsa that they give with the chips that we enjoyed more than the guacamole. It’s more a testament to how awesome the salsa and chips are. I think we ate like three baskets! Both my wife and I ordered an entrée. The food was tasty, but not out of this world. Portions were rather large and we had a lot of trouble finishing. Service was impeccable and the ambience was more than we could have asked for.

Pricey! The first time we went we got tacos and they were too pricey in my opinion. However, it didn’t seem like they used poor quality ingredients so there’s that. The flavors are too similar in all of the dishes, however. I felt like the tacos and enchiladas that I got tasted the same just different textures. Maybe that’s just mexican food in general? I do love the service here. Yummy chips and salsa is always a plus, esp. since I’m used to bread and butter. Churros and worry dolls at the end always put a smile on my face. If you are worried about paying too much for food you might not like, definitely go during lunch. Second time around we went during lunch and the prices are way better and you get plenty of food! The half sandwich half soup deal is superb, definitely could not finish everything, but I didn’t feel as bad since it was only around $ 12. Overall, this place is nice for fine mexican, but I’d rather just swing by Alcapolcos, which is 10 min. away and just more comfortable for me.

Wow. Blew my expectations out of the water. Nestled in the Chestnut Hill mall, I expected a stuffy, overpriced restaurant. We came here for lunch and got some taco plates. They were reasonably priced and had good flavor. The chips and salsa were pretty tasty, but a little oily. That was probably because they were homemade. Oh, forgot to mention… The chips are also free. We didn’t have any drinks except for water and their passion fruit tea. It comes in a cut little carafe and a side of agave nectar sweetener. The best part of the meal… The free churros at the end. They also gave us free worry dolls… Little figurines that help you get a peaceful nights sleep. We will definitely be returning.

Came here on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy to my surprise. I had made reservations on OpenTable and was seated right away. We were a party of four and we ordered a pitcher of sangria, table guacamole, complimentary chips and salsa, two orders of enchiladas mixtas, one order of chicken tacos and one order of pork with grilled pineapple tacos. For dessert we had a chocolate cake, tres de leche cake and complimentary churros. Overall, the food was good. The table side guacamole could’ve been more flavorful. The enchiladas were really like, I like that hint of spice. The desserts were alright, I was really looking forward to try their flan but it was out that night. The prices for these meals were a bit pricey considering their service(could’ve checked up on us a bit more) and food were just good. I personally wouldn’t want to come again unless a friend wants to try! However I do think if you’re craving for Mexican food, give this place a try and see what you think!

We went to this semi-new restaurant(I think the hostess said they opened in November) and were pleasantly surprised! I arrived before my friend, and was greeted at the door instantly. The hostess was very polite and complimentary! Killing some time while I waited, I asked him what he would recommend, and without thinking, he named off 5 dishes, no pauses in between. It didn’t sound like he was giving me a memorized speech, so I was impressed. My friend arrived and we were then instantly seated. It was early, the place was empty, but by the time we left, the tables were occupied. We started off with table side guacamole, which was fresh and delicious! We then got some margaritas. I got the Classic margarita, and my friend selected the Pepino one. I was satisfied with mine, but the Pepino one was overpowering and did not agree with our taste buds– so I would not recommend that one. Our dinner selections were on point, enchiladas carnitas, and Pastor iron skillet tacos. Generous portion size and nothing to complain about. At the end, our waitress asked if we wanted a dessert menu, and I had looked at my friend and said«of coarse we want dessert for your birthday!» Later on, without looking at the dessert menu or saying anything to the waitress, she had brought out a Tres Leche cake with a candle! I was surprised and pleased that she had heard me and brought that to our table! When our bill arrived, we were given miniature figurines to put under our pillows later on to ward off evil spirits, and a small bag of warm churros! Overall, great experience, friendly and attentive staff, and great atmosphere!

The best thing Besito has is the table side guacamole. They make a huge bowl of it and it is just awesome. In addition to the guacamole we got the crab cake and a friend ordered the tortilla chicken soup for appetizers. Both were good, but the star was the guacamole. For my entrée I ordered the Pastor tacos. The pastor is a nicely flavored pork with tiny pieces of pineapple. It comes in a skillet with a couple sauces and a small salad. It also comes with rice and beans. The tortilla was a small corn tortilla. They are about the size of the palm of a hand, so they are small. They do say that they would give you more if needed. I didn’t really care for the tortilla to be honest. The pork was really flavorful and I could just enjoy eating it as is. A friend got the salad with a chipolte cream dressing and steak. The steak was tender and flavorful. I may order that if I go again. When giving the check they gave churros(enough for everyone to have 1). It was so good! Overall I had a nice experience and would definitely go back. Some other reviews mentioned poor service, so I just wanted to note that I had no issues. Asia was our waitress and she was really good.

Went at an odd hour during the weekday. Greeted by a server in Spanish, asked for a bigger table even though we are only a table of 2. Server rejected us and kept telling us it is for big parties even though there only only 3 tables of customers. Got pretty upset and had to talk to the GM and she was very kindly brought us to a big table. Now to the food. They started us off with salsa and tortilla. Tortilla tasted really fresh. 1. Table guacamole. Made fresh in front of you and you get to choose rhe spiciness. Great for people like me who cannot handle hot. 2. Melted cheese with oinions and peppers. I don’t like onions but I was able to enjoy this dish. 3. Main course– pork and pineapple tacos. 4. Main course– Short ribs. The outside of the meat was marinated very well but the meat felt boiled and not much taste in the middle 5. side of corn 6. side of plantains.(def get this) If you are not in a rush, you should take your time and enjoy their music. Makes you feel like you are somewhere else. Overall experience, other than the fact that it’s a carbs meal, I will recommend this place for their food, environment and music. Definitely go at odd hours. They also give you a small doll in the end to put under your pillow to take away bad dreams.

«Chad’s Eats» review of Besito Mexican Cuisine: Mexican(semi upscale) Location: Chestnut Hill, MA Parking: Being at the Chestnut Hill Mall parking is ample and free Décor /Ambiance: Low lit, high energy with avocado carts rolling around. There is a festive ambiance and a beautiful wall of lit candles. This was the eye catcher for me Greeting: We were a bit early for our reservations. They said they would have a table for us shortly. Then a rush of folks came in and it was rather congested and chaotic. I think most of these folks did not have reservations. I had thought the hosts was going to lose track of us but almost to the minute our reservation was for, she grabbed two menus, made her way through the crowd and found us to to say«Your table is ready» and she brought us to our table. Menu mix: Creative classics and some inventive creations with rooted with Mexican influences. Great variety! Water /Bread service: Chips great, salsa bland. Water tasted great, fresh tasting and not a hint of bleach Drink pour: Got a 16 dollar pour of a high end tequila… real light pour. Let’s just say the next round was a lower end tequila. We had ½ shots of a set of tasting flights at Casa de Pedro in Watertown and those pours were equal to Besito full pour. Food quality: Overall I thought the food quality was fine but didn’t wow me like other Mexican restaurants I have been to. I went here for the purpose of having mole sauce. I have never had it. I had the Enchiladas de Mole Poblano. Two big enchiladas in a moat of mole sauce. I found it tasty, lots of depth in flavor, ver rich. For appetizers we got ceviche del dia. It was bland, not the best I have had. I like a nice bright citrus flavor and didn’t get it with this. The carne asada tacos were very good served on a soft corn tortilla. My wife had a creative dish of encrusted Mahi Mahi with two sauces which was great. I enjoyed her dish more than mine. I also got a side dish of Mexican street corn which is served cut from the cob which I liked. This was great. Little side crocks of really good Rice and black beans served separately also come with your meal. Your meal ends with some complimentary churros. They were nothing remarkable. Service: Started out friendly and energetic but as soon as a party of 8 sat next to us then all attention shifted to that table. The large party was also read a bunch of specials which we were never told. Value: Aside from the tiny pours I felt the prices for this restaurant class was fair. It would be better if some of these weak points were addressed. Bathrooms: Impeccably clean! Would I return: Unfortunately I am in no hurry to return. I am continuing my search for other authentic Mexican restaurants
