Staff, food, paint job suck. Unfortunately food options in Chestertown are extremely limited.

Absolute worst dining I’ve ever had. Hostess was rude when checked at 6pm, they were out of half the menu, drinks were never refilled nor did any waiter come by to ask if we wanted more to drink. Dirty appetizer plates were left on the table the entire meal. Waited 90 min for dinner at which time a server came out to tell us 2 of us would not be getting fish n chips as ordered because they ran out. I told her fine, bring me a salad. The entire party was finished eating and the salad never came. New management is needed desperately.

Went Fishwhistle for lunch and had a restaurant .com certificate on my Iphone. They did not know how to take the certificate electronically. They said their manager was computer illeterate.

Worst dining experience ever. The rudest staff and manager I have encountered ever. My wife and I were on our last day of a vacation and we called ahead to see how late they were serving food. It was approximately 8:05 pm, Unilocal said they were open until 11pm. The manager said we will serve food as long as people are here. She never mentioned the dining room was closed and it was the bar menu. No problem, we order a drink, placed our food order and talked. Inside, there were 3 other tables with people, and 3 people at the bar. There was a large group inside and another on the deck outside. We received our drinks and food, then noticed a guy questioning the bartender. The bartender said last call, it was about 8:50pm. There were still over 20 people there! We finished our drinks, no one came to check on us, we finished our food(still nothing), pushed the plates and cups away and watched one kid cleaning up the bar area, the bartender with his face in his phone and the manager watching softball on TV. We sat there for over 5 minutes, never being acknowledged. At this time, we were the only people inside. I finally stood up and asked for my check. The young man that was cleaning up got it for me. I asked for the manager, she said that’s me. I said I understand that you are cleaning up, but at least take care of the customers that are still here. I said, you are watching TV, the bartender has been looking at his phone and I pointed at the younger worker and said, he is working. The bartender interrupted me while talking to the manager, asked me a question, then interrupted me while answering his question. He then told me not to raise my voice to him and told me to leave. I asked the manager if she was going to handle this, she just sat there and said she didn’t want to escalate things! I asked her another question and she then told me that she could have closed at 7. The bartender followed us to the parking lot(very bad idea), he said he was going to take a photo and call the police. Bottom line, they were not doing their jobs, got called out and decided to act like I was wrong for pointing it out. I wish I could put a negative galaxy of stars! Our evening was ruined to say the least.

As new residents in Chestertown the Whistle has quickly become our favorite. A very diversified menu and a friendly staff. The service has been a little slow on occasion but we enjoy the Waterfront setting and are glad to wait. Hope they can clean up the potholes in the parking lot. It can be a little treacherous on our frequent rainy days. I am sure we will be filling out our frequent visitor card in no time. Chestertown is a water oriented community and we and the Fish Whistle offers the only waterfront dining in town.

Good beer menu. Dis interested waitress and mediocre food. Would guess that if we sat outside and just had a few drinks looking out on the water it would be fine. For a nice dinner meh.

The absolute worst meat loaf that I have ever attempted to eat. Over spiced, dry, looked cooked days ago, if at all. No idea what type of meat was in it. Smelled funny, almost fishy, and tasted, let’s just say, off. Understaffed so waitress never came to check on meal. Told her when she brought the bill but she didn’t offer to comp even though I only had a couple bites.

The staff were wonderful and consistently ensuring we were serviced properly.(Refills, clearing of plates etc,) The atmosphere and food were top notch! Plenty of variety on the menu and best cream of crab I ever tasted!!! My friend ordered a custom salad and it looked professionally done and fresh! All food came out at proper times. This place is amazing. Definitely coming back when it’s warmer for drinks and apps on the deck!

This place was recommended to us to watch the Super Bowl. We sat in the bar, great selection of beers. We were told we could only offer off the late night menu(it was 6:30pm) and the crab dip was excellent. Unfortunately we were given«last call» before half time.

I wanted seafood and the Jambalaya was spectacular and the beer icy cold(and plenty of varieties). Gorgeous view of the water and even though my visit was during a very crowded tall ship event, the service was spectacular.

Rockfish cooked to perfection, tender, flaky. Delicious savory oyster stew full of plump oysters. Nice selection of national and local craft beers in bottles and on tap. Friendly attentive waitress, hostess, and owner. And, at sunset, a wonderful view with orange playing across boats and the bridge and the opposite shore. Loved it, and we’ll certainly return.

Great food, drinks and view. The inside dining room felt a little stuffy at lunchtime but the deck wasn’t. Friendly staff.

I find the food and ambiance to be surprisingly good. The ambiance odd probably the best part and the meal itself is average to above average. I found that there salads are a strong point as they are better than average. Entrees are average in my opinion. So when faced with that choice I recommend Caesar salad with chicken. My entrée sounded amazing but it ended up being ok.

No Cheers for what I have come to call the Bar of Bad Decisions. I haven’t eaten at the restaurant in a year because I wrote it off as overpriced and not great(not terrible, mind you, just not worth it). The restaurant and the Bar share a nice deck, which is the only reason for the additional star in this review. Because it has been some time since I ate at the restaurant this is mostly about the Bar. The Bar? It’s loud. And sticky. The bartop? Eeeewww. The floor? Yuck. Tables? Yeah, sticky. Last year I at least had good service at the bar. This year, the staff was largely the same but the service was not. Not being a cute female, I spent long periods trying to get service while sweet young things walked up and got immediate service. One bartender was too busy doing tequila shots with a group of young women to pay attention to anyone else last time I was there. We needed food and we were there 20 minutes before the«late night» menu started at 9 pm. By the time one of the three bartenders got to us it was after 9 and we were told rather pointedly that we were too late for the full menu. Bad service didn’t stop then, of course. The three bartenders didn’t agree whether our burgers(OK but no choice how it would be cooked) and chicken fingers would be delivered to our table. Finally they did yes but the one who brought it to us chastised us for not waiting for it(for over half an hour) at the bar. Nice. So, it’s a loud, dirty, badly run bar where people seem to go to drink way too much(I did see my first 750 ml bottle of Jägermeister there if that tells you anything) and make poor decisions. And to wait too long for service. And for food. And to get treated rudely by the staff. Now you know what to expect; good luck if you go there!

A local suggested Fish Whistle for lunch so I thought it was good idea. Boy, was she wrong. Firstly, I found it rude that I was not allowed to be seated in the dining room(U was dining alone); I had to sit at the bar because they had«several large parties on the way». I ordered the Fish Taco. It’s not a fish taco, its a fish wrap and it was the most disgusting meal I’ve had a long time! The fish tasted like it was caught in the Chester River. The accompaniments(pico de gallo, guacamole, and some sort of spicy cole slaw) were equally gross. I couldn’t eat it and pushed it away. I can’t believe they have the audacity to charge $ 14 for that crap.

Maybe I had high expectations for 23 $ shrimp and grits, but it tasted strange and like it was doused in hollandaise sauce. Extremely disappointing for the price. The BLT and the club sandwiches both arrived without Bacon — I mean really, its in the name of one of the sandwiches! Service was mediocre at best at 5pm. Truly disappointed I spent that much money on such a poor meal. Only redeeming factor was the view and time with my family. Really wish someone had asked about my experience or they had comment cards.

Perfect restaurant to go to while visiting Chestertown. We went here to celebrate my grandmother’s 75th. It was a quiet place, but the waitress was awesome. The wall is all windows looking out onto the water. The bar is separate from the dining area and the bathrooms are clean. The warm potato salad is amazing and dessert… White chocolate GLUTENFREE melting cake. It was so good! It only got 4 stars because the table was sticky and I think the chicken was a little undercooked. Other than that, all of the food we got was great. Bottle of wine for $ 16!

Have read previous reviews and were a little bit hesitant. However the prior concerns have obviously been resolved and Fish Whistle now generates a high quality local product. We had great service and very nicely crafted food. We will be going back and recommend others do too.
