DONOTGOHERE. Recently had them repair magnet on my shower door. Got a verbal estimate saying it would be less than $ 300 and take an hour. When I got my bill, I was shocked. I spoke to guy sent here(Don Clark) about the bill and he was rude. Told him job did not require 2 men to do a simple job. I was charged $ 180 for labor. They were here less than 30 minutes. He said there was traveling time included. It is only 5.7 miles from shop to my house. It cost me $ 350. What a rip-off!!!

I called Trout and asked them to provide a quote for my commercial property where I needed commercial grade glass doors and windows. I was told I would receive a quote in a few days. After a week went by, I called and spoke with Mike who told me he had the paperwork in front of him and he just needed to write it up and I would see it that afternoon. After waiting 24 hours, I called again and spoke with Mike who said the same thing, he just had to write it up and he would do it right away. I never received anything from Mike or anyone at Trout Glass so I proceeded to call The BEST Glass Co in Valpo which provided me a quote within a day.

Do not be discouraged if you have a small job, call for an estimate and do not receive a return call. I called, left a message 2x and never heard back. I was ready to write them off as mismanaged and look elsewhere. I happened to be in Chesterton and decided to just stop by the shop. Completely different experience. They were extremely kind, helpful, attentive and patient. They attended to me with my small order(mirrors cut for new shelves) as if I were a contractor with a large order. Their price was competitive, neither high nor low. Product turnaround was about 4 days, and they called right away when it was ready for pick up. If you are a homeowner with a small project(broken plate glass, mirrors, window pane needs) give them a try. You will not be disappointed with their service.
