So I wanted a last minute facial over this weekend and my salon couldn’t get me in til Monday. I found this place online and they were able to accommodate me. I made the appointment THEN read the reviews and I was a little hesitant to go through with it, but I was being selfish and really wanted this facial so I thought I would give it a try. Could be a nice experience or an expensive lesson. I had no problems at all. The staff was very polite to me and no attitudes at the front desk. My Esthetician was very nice and knowledgeable. It was a very relaxing experience and I will go back again.

I’m giving 3 stars just because I liked my mom’s new hair, but I advise if you want better reviews I would suggest getting better receptionist. Someone who is more friendly, courteous and not snobby for no reason. She made me sit in the waiting area and lied to me and said there was no room for me to sit with my mom while she got her hair done, when clearly there was because I could see. If it’s your policy to not let customers back there, just tell them. Don’t lie.

So I had a friend visit this salon per my recommendation based upon portfolio work, product lines, experience, and sense of professionalism. She visited the salon in the past month as a color client. Being a hair stylist I did my research, and gave this salon the benefit of the doubt, seeing as though I work in Chicago and she lives in Indiana. When she left the salon she called me upset, irate, and thoroughly disappointed. She said, and I quote, «I have never felt so unimportant. They talked down to me, the girls were all talking about each other, the receptionist was rude, and the stylist didn’t ask me a single thing about myself.» I felt embarrassed, sending one of my own clients to a salon I had thought to be professional and inviting. She is okay with her color, but will not be returning to this salon. I will be looking elsewhere for her. In conclusion I would highly recommend doing your research on professionalism and customer service. I would not recommend this salon to anyone, that is unless you just need to buy good product and need a quick blow dry.

VERY unsatisfied. I went in to get a full leg wax and a brazillian — I came out with hair still left on all parts. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I went back in 4 days later to get the rest removed(which was included in the price) however, there were STILL hairs left over. For $ 160, I expected to be hairless. If for some reason my hair wasn’t long enough at the time(which was not mentioned by the esthetician but I can only assume after the experience) I should have been told so. I would have waited longer and grew my hair out a little more instead of blowing so much money on a sub par job. I will NOT be going back. As a positive, everyone there was very nice and friendly. I have no complaints with the staff other than the esthetician kept making excuses.

my second time in here. I keep forgetting this place is horrible. When I came in the women at the front counter was apologizing to a customer about something the salon messed up. I walked up for a wax and heard two employees arguing over something a customer said. Finally, got my eyebrows done and taking a closer look she waxed one way down so my eyebrows look crazy. One is higher than the other! last time I went for a pedi and the lady was so snobby she didn’t want to touch my foot… really she just painted my toes. I go back some years later and I get a crazy eye brows. Never again! And to everyone else Vanis is the place to go. please avoid this place.

My wife went in for a massage, I had Lisa for mine. From the greeting at the door to the departure this was a very nice experience. I got a great massage, I had the half hour massage and Lisa concentrated on my back per my request. Really felt great afterwards. I will definitely go back and get the full hour next time. My wife and I have decided to treat ourselves to at least one a month. If you are looking for a nice experience go here, you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been to Serenity twice — once for a 30 minute massage and once for a pedicure. The massage was amazing and I felt like the price was a bargain for the service. The pedicure was also very good, especially the leg massage and foot scrubbing, but it was really expensive. If I am in the mood to treat myself, I will definitely come back.

VERYVERYVERYSNOBBY!!! I(Jenna-writing under hubby’s name) went in here recently and was treated like a nobody. The woman that was upfront acted as if she couldn’t be bothered. I don’t know who these people think they are but I have definitely been to nicer salons and they had way more class than this place.

I don’t really go «all-in» for spa experiences, but I get my hair cut here and I really like the job, Kelly, my «Stylist»(I guess is her title), does for me. When you go in, they offer you water, coffee or tea, so that’s pretty nice. They take your coat, and then you go into the back room where they cut the hair. Like I said, I get pretty picky about my hair, and Kelly cuts it the way I like(doesn’t take too much off the top) so it looks good, and usually lasts me a good month and a half. Bring cash for a tip, as you can’t add it to the credit card!
