I used to really like this place. Not much of a fan anymore… last few times the food was blah… too pricey for so so food. Great music though. I love all of the old records!

the only game in town as far as coffee goes, thankfully they have solid offerings. personally I like the iced nitro but ive never had anything there that was less than good. they have a wide selection of baked goods, soups and sandwiches. the interior is warm and inviting and there’s usually something decent on the in-house turntable.

Very good coffee. Real cream. Chef who knows how to make real food. Serves it up beautifully, even artistically. Parking on the street. Clean restrooms. A five-minute detour from I 94. Absolutely worth it. I ordered the red cup coffee, goat cheese frittata on bed of spinach, perfectly ripe pear, apples, grapes, buttered 8-grain toast. $ 14 after-tax and generous tip. This is the place to stop.

As soon as I walked in the door I heard the Grateful Dead playing on the overhead speakers. Looking around, I saw the brightly painted furniture, the comfortable couches and chairs, the hardwood floors and the paintings of daisies and songbirds on the walls. The food and drink are tasty and inexpensive, and the whole place looks like it would be ideal if Indiana ever legalizes pot. I sincerely hope they do. Indiana needs more hippies. A lot more hippies. Anyway, if they ever do, this café will most likely become the go to place. There’s a turntable and stacks of records of everything from Hendrix to Public Enemy. It’s located in Chesterton’s beautiful downtown, across from the park. Lots of parking on the street.
My favorite place to hang out or meet up with friends on weekends. Their coffee are good and the staffs are friendly. Thumbs up!!!

Two great guys opened the doors for an out-of-towner early Sunday morning and made me a big, delicious cup of coffee ! Little did I know they don’t open on Sundays! Just my luck to catch them as they stopped in to pick up muffins to take to church. Thank you for your warm hospitality and for the cup of joe. I will be back when you are«really» open.

Great muffins! Food(breakfast) was good and plentiful, my cappuccino was a bit weak but companions lattes were fine. Love the classic vinyl décor and music!

Excellent coffee with a side of kindness! The owner(I presume) made me coffee after hours and even gave it to me on the house when I only had a credit card to pay. Some may be upset by an out of tower with her loud toddler wandering in(three hours) after hours. but I was met with kindness and generosity. We will be back during business hours to try the fantastic looking food. Espresso was perfect. Vibe was fun!

Loved it! The food was wicked fresh and the people were awesome. We just needed a place to kill some time and got more than we bargained for. We will definitely be back. It’s hard to beat a place with great food, service and record collection!

I first thought this place was too cool for me but it ain’t. I love dancing with the door coming in and the funky music always playing. So close to the beach and after dropping the progeny off, and that too if need be.

Did this place change owners? The wallpaper atmosphere seems better and the employees are better. Hope this nice change continues.

Great atmosphere, great coffee. A great small town feel. One if my favorite coffee places of all time. A bit pricy for me, but still overall love it.

I generally work from home, which means tons of frequent distractions. My adorable Rottweiler is barking all day, or the closets need to be cleaned out pronto, or I just HAVE to take a nap, or Law & Order is on… again. If I can’t focus at home, I venture out to a locally owned coffee shop or restaurant to get some serious work done. Today I grabbed the laptop and went to Red Cup Café & Deli in Chesterton. I will definitely be back for a relaxing brunch with the hubs very soon. Here’s why: The Red Cup serves Metropolis Coffee. If you’re from Chicago, you know what I mean. Smooth and delicious! They have breakfast specials, a brunch menu, and lots of hot and cold sammies. The baked goods look totally decadent. If I enjoyed sweets, I’d probably try one of each. There’s tons of free street parking on both sides of the street in front of the café. I’m sure it’s difficult to find an open space on any given summer Saturday when the European Market is in full force, but it’s no problem on a Thursday afternoon. The atmosphere is quirky and cozy, with lots of mix-and-match furniture including a few high-top tables and stools, couches and overstuffed chairs, and even a large dining room style table that seats eight. Great for groups, couples, and singles alike. The completely random musical selection is probably my favorite thing about the Red Cup. I’ve been here for an hour and have heard smooth ‘70s soul, synth-pop, ragtime and old-timey jazz, Wilco, Alabama Shakes, Modest Mouse, and Joy Division. The variety is truly impressive. Who knows what I’ll hear next? Ella Fitzgerald? Hank Williams, Sr? Stevie Nicks? Kraftwerk? The servers and baristas know what they’re doing and will patiently answer questions about the menu. In other words, you don’t have to be a regular to feel comfortable. Both the self-serve condiment area and the unisex bathroom are clean and tidy. There are a few tables on the shady sidewalk our front and free wifi. I love this place.

Had another great lunch here. I had the corned beef and sauerkraut with Dijon and Swiss and it was great. They used to serve Terra chips, but this time they had potato chips.
