Nobody ever answers phone. Been trying to call for take out but they do not answer ever.
So not going back.

A really good neighborhood bar. You get the feeling there that the place is filled with regulars. As a first timer, the service and quality of food were top notch for this type of place.

Nice place to go for a weeknight dinner out. The prices are good and there is a nice variety on the menu. It also is relatively clean and the things we had were well prepared. The greens in the salad were fresh and crisp. The food is fairly typical and did not see anything that is a standout, however, if you are looking for something solid and consistent, it appears based on our experience, you will not be disappointed.

Food was so so. Server recommended beef dip. Not good. Husband and son had burgers and they liked them. Service away from bar wasn’t great.

Went to eat with the family on a Sunday afternoon. The place was packed. There was only one waitress. She just couldn’t keep up, with no help. We felt really bad for her, but this was ridiculous .
Recently we tried to call Smittys for a take out order which we have done a few times in the past. It was a week night around 7:30. We called a few times and got no answer. The next time a man answered the phone and before I was able to speak he said angrily «we are not taking ANY to go orders tonite». He then hung up the phone. Guess they are not interested in out business… No problem, we won’t try again.

Definitely a fan. Great bar food: wings, mushrooms, cheese garlic bread. Also great Fried Chicken night on Wednesday, but go early!

I have driven by this place literally hundreds of times, but assumed it was just a local pub with average local pub food… nothing wrong with that, just not my cup of tea. But the reviews here on Unilocal encouraged me to try it, and with extra time and not much motivation to spare, I stopped in for a bite with the lowest expectations.
Wow! I still can’t believe it… the food is AMAZING.
My son ordered the toasted ravioli and the sourdough burger and I had the Chicken Artichoke and the potato skins.
NOTE: the portions are enormous, so if you’re not into taking some home, cut back on your order. Ravioli had TWELVE pieces… potato skins were enormous… both very good, but not reason enough for a 5-​star review on their own.
The burger was cooked perfectly and very good. As previously noted, the portion of fries was enormous. But the star of the show was the Chicken Artichoke… unbelievable…I was shocked! I expected they’d be good at bar food… it’s a 40 year old bar… but the chicken was downtown-​coat-​and-​tie quality… with mushrooms and artichoke and capers and tomatoes… I am speechless… and you will be too after you eat at this place.
Oh…one more tidbit… just one bartender, one server, and one cook… for a semi-​packed house and fast service… unreal.

You don’t go to Smitty’s for 4 star service you come to Smitty’s for the 4 star food. Service can be slow, so have another drink… you’re at a bar. I’ve been going here for almost 30 years and have had 1 meal I would say wasn’t outstanding.
The Caesar salad is amazing. (Get it after your meal) Fried mushrooms with horseradish sauce, anything from the entrée section, or a fantastic burger or ribeye steak sandwich, and when they say the pizza is worth the wait — they aren’t kidding.
The consistency over many, many years in a terrific product is what sets this tiny dive bar apart from almost every restaurant I’ve dined.
Tip: If you want fried chicken on Wednesday get there VERY early. The blue-​hairs will arrive by 5 and don’t stop until 6:30. If you get there around 6:30 you can expect a good 45 minutes to wait for, if there’s any left, some of the best fried chicken you will ever eat.

I love this place — veil cannelloni — burgers… veil cannelloni with red/​white sauce… I love it. I love it.

At this point, after frequenting this place for six years, I have tried the majority of the menu. I never had a bad meal yet. My go to is a regular board special, brisket of beef sandwich. The rib eye sandwich is very good as well. Blackened chicken, sourdough burger, I could go through the entire menu and recomend any one of them. Local family ownership that work there are great. The place is a bit dark. I have never been there on the fried chicken Wednesday night as it is too crowded; a Yogiism I suppose.

Came here on New Years Eve with some friends and had the Sourdough burger. It was a religious experience and the caramelized onions were just perfect. Comfortable interior, good beer and awesome service.

Who would have thought you could get such delicious food in a neighborhood bar. Everything I have ordered has been wonderful and fresh! The catfish is crunchy and light. The fried chicken was juicy and full of flavor.
While this is one of the busiest places in West County, it feels comfortable and welcoming. The staff is friendly, kind and thoughtful. I highly recommend this little bar to anyone looking for great food and awesome service.

Possibly the last trip I make before relocating, but it was amazing as ever last night. Best fried chicken in the County, easily. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because we consistently wait 45 min or longer for food once we’ve ordered, but I get that they’re very busy and it’s worth the wait. Also, easily the best value for dinner out there (2 chicken dinners and 2 iced teas were $ 21 total, and it was a huge meal). Love Smitty’s!

The steaks were perfectly cooked. The beer is ice cold and the local crowd is super friendly. Couldn’t ask for a better place. Service was great even though it was packed.

This is a place made up of regulars and older members in the area. I thought it was cozy and small enough to get a drink. Service was chill and food is reasonably priced. Fried Chicken is awesome. Burgers were made fairly well too.

A whole in the wall with really good food and good service. I really like all the food. My favorite was the 9″ pizza. Or the walleye, or the fried chicken all good.

My friend and I usually stop there for a drink. Today we decided to try lunch. First, the worst part about the visit was the parking. It shares the lot with 2 other very popular lunch spots. Once inside though, we were seated and waited on quickly. I got the Blacked Chicken Grill and my friend got the Brisket sandwich. Both were good. Service was good as well. About the only thing I would change about the experience besides the parking is to turn up the lights for lunch. It was tough to read the menu. I understand a darker environment for a bar but not for lunch.

Couple of friends had heard about this place and we ended up going a Sunday afternoon. Ended up being a fantastic experience. This place reminds me of village bar in Des Peres, but I think cleaner and much better food. Although the waffle fries their are righteous.
The staff and owner are very nice and attentive. And on top of that the food was fantastic. If your a burger guy or gal, this place is a must, I personally think its the best in STL. Ian Froeb definately missed this place when he wrote the article «Most Underrated Burgers.»
The table started with 2 orders of wings and we had to order another they were so good.
Going to be torn between ordering that burger again or trying their even more famous fried chicken next time I go there.

Wanna go diving? Well, this is the perfect spot! Smitty’s is a classic dive bar, but I have to say the food isn’t bad. Unfortunately it’s the regulars that ruined it.
Our group went here for an after work happy hour, not sure who chose the location, but I decided to roll with it. The place is dark and old, but has great service and food. Try the catfish special or the turkey melt. The fries are nice and crispy. They have some TV’s and a shuffle board table. That’s a plus.
The bad part was our group had to move 2 separate times because the «regular» for that table showed up and gave us the boot. We didn’t want to start somethin’ with the old dudes and probably the entire bar, so we just dealt with it and moved. So this is a bar full of bullies and I guess the staff is not hurting for business since they let this occur. Although I have to say the staff is super sweet besides allowing the authoritative behavior.
I won’t be back due to how unwelcoming the patrons were, but I honestly probably would not go back anyway…
