I was a patient of Dr. Michael Parsons at the Festus office. First let me tell you I am an old expert of dentistry. The teeth I came with some 60+ years ago were not all that great. Over the years they required frequent trips to the dentist for root canals, fillings, bridges, caps and gum treatments ad infinitum. I have a lot of data with which to judge a dentist. A couple of years ago it became apparent several of my teeth were beyond repair, including four uppers right in the front and a couple more further back. It was time for implants and that is where Dr. Parsons and I began our relationship. He is probably one of the most congenial dentist I have ever been to as well as one of the most knowledgeable. I could go on at great lengths but the sum total of many visits is this; the staff was first class(I sent them flowers after my final visit) and Parsons is simply one of the best, if not the best, of the many dentist I have been to — — - ever. He is a prince of guy with a great sense of humor and damned good at what he does. I should point out Dr. Parsons is an oral surgeon.

*Disclaimer: this review is being written while on some heavy pain medications. Got my wisdom teeth out on Monday! I’m pretty terrified of all things medical and dental, as I’m sure most people are. I successfully put off getting my wisdom teeth out for over ten years(it’s a talent), but all of that came to a halt last week when I woke up with one side of my face swollen. My bottom right wisdom tooth went rogue and before I knew it, my dentist was telling me that I needed to get them all taken out immediately. I had officially lost the wisdom teeth battle. I was referred to Midwest OMFS, and I couldn’t be happier that was where I went. I was able to get an appointment just a week later, and the whole process was a lot less painful(in all ways) than I thought it would be. Dr. Parsons did my surgery and he was an absolute pro. I showed up at my 9:30am appointment time and had to fill out some paperwork. From there, we went into an exam room where I had to answer some questions. And yes, I said we, because I’m 28 and still can’t go through a medical procedure without my mom. We had to watch a 10 – 15 minute video about the procedure which honestly was the most painful part of the day… I’m pretty sure it was produced in 1980 and it went by very, very slowly. After the video, a woman came in to take care of payment and go through insurance forms. Then it was go time. I truly am grateful that the actual surgery part went by so quickly. I got into the room, had an IV within a few minutes, then drifted off to anesthetic land. Before I knew it, I was waking up and everything was done. Dr. Parsons was so kind and made me feel so comfortable, and he did a great job. As I was coming out of the anesthetic, I apparently put my fist in the air and yelled that I was the champion of teeth. However, I think the real champions here are Dr. Parsons and his staff. Thanks for making a crappy day less crappier than it could have been! Can’t recommend this place enough.

I came to this location for a consultation for my wisdom teeth removal. Since I’m an awful patient, I had forgotten to request that my regular dentist send them my x-rays ahead of time. Once there, I had to get a new set of x-rays and I wasn’t too thrilled about it. First. I have an awful gag reflex, so it’s torture biting down on those bite-wing things when they take x-rays. Second, I figured I was going to have to pay for it. Amazingly, they have this x-ray machine where you just sit down and it rotates around your head to take the x-ray. No crap in your mouth to gag on. Why don’t all dentist’s employ the use of these magical things?! Also, they didn’t charge me for the x-rays, which was awesome. Overall, the staff was nice and efficient. I talked to Dr. Kratky, who was very reassuring and confident, which put me more at ease.(I had surgery several years ago on my elbow in a different state and as I was being prepped, I was informed that the sedative they were using was what killed Michael Jackson. That’s how not to put someone at ease, by the way.) I also knew to the cent what my total bill was going to be after insurance paid for the surgery the following week when I left that day. The staff is really on top of things here. The doctors float around to different locations, so I had to go out to Wentzville for my surgery, which was fine. I didn’t HAVE to go there but that’s where the doctor I had just seen was going to be on the day I was available.
