A solid four stars for this little place in Chester. We had stopped in here for a beer several months ago but not been back to try their food. So I was not sure what to expect when we stopped by last Saturday for lunch,. What we found was a cozy little place that filled pu quickly and offered a menu with about a dozen options on it. There were a few off the menu specials as well. The wife had pulled pork sliders which were than enough to fill her up for lunch and were both well-presented and well made. I made a departure from my habit of trying burgers and sandwiches at new places and had a dish called the sidewinder. Whoa. This was enough food for two to split or even three to nibble on. Not quite fries, or wedges, these potatoes were thickly shaved pieces that were perfectly fried and topped with cheese, sour crème, pulled pork and green onions. This was all drizzled with a bit of creamy siracha sauce. Like nachos on steroids and with the aforementioned perfectly fried potatoes instead of chips. The other great thing about this place was the nice lady who was waiting on us. She is the owner’s mother-in – law and was just very pleasant to deal with. She chatted with just about everyone she waited on but kept the service going. This little place is worth a visit.

I mean, the food was good, the bartender was very friendly and fun, other customers were a hoot, my only desire was variety. It’s a small town and an even smaller place, so my expectations may be unfair! Bloody mary was good! But five stars for my experience!

Our ladies group enjoyed a delicious meal on the porch on a Friday evening. Several ordered the fish and chips, one ordered the shredded pork sliders, and I chose the shrimp tacos. They all enjoyed theirs but oh my word, mine were out of this world. We all agreed it was the best dinner we’ve had in Chester. We were grateful for the great service Connie gave us. The price is very reasonable!

This is such a warm and welcoming local bar! I walked I and was instantly welcomed by the bartender and locals. I just missed the kitchen closing but the owner came out and we had a great wee chat — she’s absolutely lovely! Their beers are great and mostly they’re just the most welcoming people! Wish I was on Chester for longer to go back…

We used an afternoon thunderstorm as an excuse to get off the water and into some drinks here over Memorial Day weekend. It was a fantastic experience! There are a bunch of microbrews available, some craft beers, a full bar, bar food, and indoor seating(bar and tables) as well as patio seating. What more can you ask for from a bar? Joseph whipped up some stiff cocktails for our group and also offered interesting conversation. He shared local history, including the bar’s own claim to fame, and we made small talk about people we both remotely knew. Then, after gaining our trust, he casually offered his experimental hot sauce. If he tries this with you, resist! It is the equivalent of molten lava(straight from Lassen’s fiery heart, surely) mixed with the spice of a thousand angry peppercorns and it will sear the inside of your mouth as if you licked a branding iron. It took a significant amount of time for us to recover from the sample he shared with us. I hope he wins an award some day for that bad boy. He also graciously tolerated/humored the members of our group who grew a little boisterous when inebriated, and pretended gallantly to be enjoying the experience. Thanks Joseph! Also a big thanks to Mary, the friendly owner, who sold us a sweatshirt and hat.

A very clean bar, the small selection of food is a step above the regular deep fried bar food. I had the Asian tacos which were very good and much bigger than I expected ! And I also had the pork sliders which were fair. A small but good variety of micro brews which i give 5 stars for! For a small town like chester its definitely a good choice if you want some good beer and tasty small plates.

First time here. Wow — why didn’t we come here before. Mary the owner was so gracious & the large beer on tap selection was fantastic. I loved the local brews. The special mushroom burger was great. We will be back.

Great new addition to Chester! At least 8 beers in tap, 2 big screens tuned into sports. Biggest surprise was the great food! Try the Asian tacos and sliders. Two of us split an order of each and were full afterwards. Great attentive service Next door to the lake Almanor fly fishing shop. Hence the name«thirsty trout pub»!

Great addition to the options in an otherwise quiet town. Solid micro-brew selection !!! Reasonably(really) small menu, but the pulled pork special was VERY good!!! Wings were cooked perfectly, great garlic sweet. Kinda thing. I heard no «ding» from. A microwave, so that is a good thing !!, I really want this place to do well…
