I have been going to Redwoods since they opened and always loved the food, the management and the owners, all great people. We always ate at the bar and rarely had any complaints. In the past few years though, this place has become a great disappointment. My wife and I keep trying to give it another try, but every time we return the bartenders are worse than the last. I know it’s hard to find good help, but the lack of attention at the bar is really poor. We went back a few weeks ago and there were only 8 people at the bar and 3 times had to call to the bartender to get her attention as our drinks sat empty for more than 15 minutes. She spent so much time talking to her friends that she totally ignored the other 6 folks at the bar. I hope the best for the sake of the owners, but the management team really needs straighten out the bartender’s or we will not be back in the future.

Overpriced, sand in the clams, programmed staff. More of a bar vibe. Stick to the IPA’s and burgers. Wouldn’t recommend for a sit down dinner

Food has taken a definitive downturn. Returned the absolut chicken, after two bites, which had been a signature dish. Calamari was greasy and tasted like a frozen mass market item. Sad to report this unfortunate experience.

I definitely prefer Redwoods dinner to their lunch fare. You can’t go wrong with the burgers or the salmon. I also like their salads and nachos(always to start). Their food quality, service and menu continues to improve over the years.

Great service, attentive servers & delicious food(I highly recommend their salmon). You can never go wrong with Redwoods! And when I checked in on Unilocal I receive $ 5 off our bill.

I’ve driven by this place so many times but it didn’t have great reviews so we never stopped in. Today we stopped in. The food was delicious(burger, soup, wings) but the wait staff was so rude I’ll probably never go back. Our waitress rushed us the entire time and it was made quite clear to us(over and over and over again) that they were transitioning from lunch to dinner as if it annoyed them that we were there.

Been here many times for dinner and a few large parties. I’ve never been disappointed. Food has always been delicious and the staff is very attentive.

After a few hours at a local pumpkin farm with our 8 yr old, we stopped for early evening dinner. Waited about 15 minutes and then led to main dining room. Of course we’d picked one of the busiest October weekends(Columbus day Sunday), and the traffic and crowds everywhere confirmed this. Had a great welcomed drink and perused the menu. We 3 shared a large order of the freshest, tastiest(and not so easy to find this time of year) clams on the half shell. Our little one had, as he put it, «the best pizza ever». Thin, delicious, and all his own. My husband’s burger was great, my nachos were heaped with lots of the necessary yummy pilings and way too much to finish. Our waiter, Greg, was efficient and cordial, in spite of how busy he and the rest of the staff were. When we noted that it was a little warm, he and the manager immediately put on the air conditioner, and since the place was rapidly filling up, it was welcomed and timely. Not our first time there and will definitely continue to frequent, as the food is always great, the staff is always welcoming, and even though we did have to wait a bit between servings, it’s a pleasant atmosphere to relax in. And hey, it’s a fall weekend in Chester — traffic and lots of people are expected!

I was expecting much better considering the good reviews, but we were very disappointed. We ordered hot wings for an app. and they came out cold, but they were cooked inside. Make me wonder how much of their food isn’t freshly prepared, and just heat up. Those got sent back immediately. Instead we got the shrimp bisque, that tasted good, however there was no actual shrimp meat in the soup. I ordered the beer brined chicken sandwich for an entrée. Roll wasn’t toasted, chicken was again cold, and they forgot the avocado I asked for on the side. Even the burger was disappointing. Sorely undercooked. This restaurant left a lot to be desired, and I wouldn’t eat here again if you paid for my meal.

Love this place. Never had a bad experience, dinner, lunch, drinks whatever… They know me by name now, Lisa the bartender always makes my Guinness with a shamrock. The Filet and Salmon are 2 of the best dishes around. And they make a great burger, and chicken nachos.

I really love Redwoods. Their service, their establishment, location and of course, food, are top notch. We have been eating here for years, as it’s one of my parents’ favorite restaurants, and we threw their 40th anniversary party here which was a rousing success. The set up of the restaurant is great. There’s a full service bar to one side with some seating and a full dining area to the other side. It’s great when you want to just sit at the bar or eat a family dinner; you don’t have to mix the two worlds, but the option is there. They also offer outdoor seating which is a bonus. Love their french onion flatbread — I could eat this every day, it’s so light and delicious. Their steaks and burgers are also fan favorites and I especially like their crab cake sandwich and tuna steak spinach salad. The location is wonderful as well — right in the heart of downtown Chester. They also have a frequent dining program offering restaurant rewards. As for private events, we had one of the most successful parties last June. Working with Janet, the restaurants events manager, was such a fabulous experience. She really pushed to get us everything we wanted and went above and beyond for us. Planning parties, surprises no less, can be very stressful and she was a gem, so helpful and patient, recommending what would make our party the absolute best. And it was. The room, music, drinks, and food, oh the food, people are still talking about it. We did a buffet with passed hors devours, house dessert cake and an open bar — everything was delectable! We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome and neither could our parents and guests.

I’m not sure why this restaurant currently has 3 stars(overall) on Unilocal. My wife and I just left and had an incredibly pleasant dining experience: 1. The location is phenomenal and outdoor seating makes everyone happy. 2. Our server was knowledgable, pleasant, prompt and made great recommendations. As a great server does, drinks were refilled before they were finished. 3. The food was great! We had the scallops as an appetizer — seared perfectly with great flavor profiles. My wife had the salmon special which had that wood burning char we came there for in the first place and I had the steak tips which were in a delicious sauce and cooked a perfect medium-rare. 4. It was a Monday, so they have their«2 for 1 entrée» special. How can you cook at home and beat that? 5. Finally the house infused vodka martini was a hit and the sour patch peach skin was a delightful surprise. This restaurant deserves better for the food and service.

First time here ! We ordered the tapas for our appetizer and it was not bad but it was not good ! My recommendation is the caramelized salmon and the calamari. Delicious! One of the bests thing about the meal was the dessert. The service very nice !

First time visit. Ordered soup salad and two small plates. Soup was the shrimp bisque it was too thick but tasted good. The crabcake and the lamb shank were OK. Overall experience average. If you’re choose to sit outside it feels like you’re sitting in the parking lot.

Great location with plenty of parking. I have eaten here on several occasions. The food is consistent. There is outdoor seating when the weather permits. There are happy hour specials. Thursday night has an extended happy hour. Many of the dishes are prepared on a wood burning grill. I will definitely come back. I sat at the bar and my bartender was awesome!!!

I’ve honestly never had a great dinner here. Some vaguely ok ones, never anything I can’t do at home better and cheaper. Overcharged for minor things(a tablespoon of guacamole or avocado), service is iffy. Salmon isn’t wild, it’s farm raised, I can pollute my body cheaper elsewhere. $ 25.99 for farm raised salmon? Really? While the fajitas are supposed to come with sour cream and salsa, if you get 1 tablespoon full, you are lucky. Ask for more, you are charged. They will load you up with cheap food like the rice, though. If it weren’t for the location and advertising, and liquor, I can’t imagine why anyone would go here. Atmosphere is iffy; if I want to eat outside, do I want to be sucking in exhaust fumes and gasoline fumes from the gas station next door? A definite miss for me.

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here this past Saturday night. We arrived a little early, prior to our reservation, so we sat at the bar for drinks. The service at the bar was wonderful, as were the cocktails. I was very pleased. The dining experience on the other hand was horrible. Our server rushed us the entire time. We ordered the Tapas for our appetizer and almost every two minutes, our server came back and asked if we were still working on it. The third time he came over, he said«I don’t want to nag you guys, but are you still working on that?» Clearly, if the thought that you are nagging us crossed your mind, you most definitely are… at that point, I told him to take it away just so he wouldn’t bother us anymore. Before our entrees came out, he even asked if we were still working on the bread basket. THEBREADBASKET. Doesn’t the bread basket usually stay on the table throughout the course of the meal? My boyfriend and I were picking at it, but like the tapas, I told him to just take it because I didn’t want him to ask again. Our entrees were great. I had the halibut and enjoyed every second of it, however I did not put down my fork once, for the fear that our server would nag me about taking my plate away. I don’t understand why we were hassled so much. It was a rainy Saturday night with many open tables so it’s not like they were rushed themselves. We won’t be coming back due to the service, though the food was good.

Based on reviews, I was anxious to visit this restaurant. We went with a couple of other couples on a recent weeknight. While it was a fun get-together, I found the restaurant disappointing. I was looking forward to starting with an Anchor Steam on draft. Based on Unilocal reviews and the menu itself, this seemed like a given. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the beer. Next problem was when we ordered a small plate of crab cakes. Small was the word as there were 3 tiny crab cakes. The main problem though is that there was a bone in one of them. The entrée of filet medallions were good but unspectacular. The best thing about the meal was probably the dessert. It was a lemon custard with blueberries which was very good. Our server was very nice and maybe it was just a bad night, but the experience was a letdown.

This review is for the private catering only. I was at a friends house in Chester a couple weekends ago, and Redwoods did the catering for it. From the staff, to the food everything was excellent, The ribs were the stars of the night. I went up at least 3 times for more. Other dishes included penne vodka, sausage and peppers and a beef dish. The beef was accompanied by a horseradish cream sauce which was divine. All beef should come with this sauce. The staff was so kind and nice. They refilled our drinks for us so we didn’t even have to get up form our table. If i lived closer i would defiantly come back to eat in the restaurant.
